Hi, first and foremost, thank you for taking the time in order to give this game the light and sincerely think it deserves. Given the amount of games which releases in a year generally, and given the fact many of them happens to have a géant budget, it is unfair the type of project Banishers appears to be, get very little coverage even in France 😔 .. Unfortunately judging by several comments under this vidéo and others covering the game, it is unfair to criticize its animations or graphics. DontNod is a humble French small studio which i have known about since i played Vampyr in 2019, which was wrongly critiqued with the exact same judgment upon Graphics and Stiffness in the animations. However, the strenght DontNod posses is the Writing of their scénarios as well as Main and Side Characters and Choices that matters. They are also very efficient with the soundtracks and ambiance, Vampyr is a proof of it and i genuinely recommand playing it or to watch vidéos in order to appreciate the visible efforts and improvements DontNod made since Vampyr for The Animations/Gameplay ! It reminds me very much of another French Studio : Spiders , which also posses à limited amount of budget and released Greedfall .. there is also stiffness in the combat/gameplay/ graphical parts ; but the Art vision, Soundtrack, Writing largely make up for its logical weaknesses due to à lack of budget. I played very few of GreedFall because i did not find time to invest like i would like to ; but it is another Game with soul and Spiders or DontNod are Impressive, as they achieve to write original stories/powerful charm ; even their limited gameplay add a certain Charm, because i know they made the best they could to deliver the best game they could and their efforts is very well appreciated. Sorry for my very long comment, and coming back to Banishers i drew similarities between Vampyr and This next Game as both offers Original Storylines/Ideas as well as dualities : in Vampyr one would play as a Doctor who suffers à tragedy, by becoming à Vampyr --> the choices made in the Game would make the main protagonist very powerful ( if one decided to bite the Npc's and in order for them to have the Best Quality blood and therefore being able to gain more expérience, you would have to find them à cure to their disease ; meanwhile if you decided to Cure them and play as a Doctor, the player would have very limited of points to improve Jonathan Reid and combat would become much more difficult ). As for the Anthea's Bar being filled as we strikes with the Main protagonist , it is a very good detail ( although it exists in every other Games ) because they do have a couple relationship and i see it as she try for as long as she can to help her husband in a new ghost form .. i might be going too far as for the details but this is how i see it 😊 Excellent video, very complete , salute from France 🇫🇷

Bro, great video. How do you like the graphics? I've become a bit skeptical where UE5 is being used on consoles. Is there a big difference in graphics in performance and quality mode? Do you know what resolution is used in those modes?
Thanks! That graphics have been pretty solid. I’ve been impressed with main story cutscenes in particular, but the graphics while playing normally have been good, too. I’m a bit spoiled with the graphics of Horizon, as that’s my main game, but that’s like the best graphics out there lol. Still, even with my eyes conditioned to Horizon, I’ve found Banishers to look quite good. I play on performance mode and I don’t think it looks very different from resolution mode. However, there will be a day 1 patch and I expect it will improve stability. Even in this prerelease build, any frame drops or stutters really haven’t been too bad.
I would say you could play it either way actually. The combos are there if you want to use them, but you can also get away with just hack-n-slash if you make sure to dodge a lot.
The problem is that if I get a game then I won't to enjoy every aspect of it to the fullest. So if this is very combo oriented then I guess it's not the right game for me. I unfortunately suck hard at combos >_
How many boss fights is hard to say. I haven’t been counting. There’s at least a handful of major boss fights throughout the main story and then lots of boss/miniboss fights throughout the story and side quests. There’s also special areas you can go to fight the bosses from quests infinite times.
Yea I felt the same way at first, especially after just coming off Jedi Survivor which allows you to change the FOV a great deal. But I will say after playing it for a good 4-6 hours I’ve gotten used to the FOV and it bothers me less the more time I put into it 😊

Same here but I’d almost bet he won’t give one as he either didn’t like it enough for a review or he signed an agreement that said he wouldn’t until after the games release. @@brandonbishop7932 I absolutely hate early reviews. Just seeing how FF7 Rebirth lifts the embargo a whole weeks before release means you can get spoiled so much easier.

it crashes on PC and its a known issue even the deves aknowldge it but expect us to fix it by going into the game files and changeing them, or change to dx11 and none of them work.
I’ll admit the basic enemies do get a bit repetitive as you run around the world, but it takes a bit to figure out how to fight them effectively and there’s some cool bosses/minibosses around the world. What you saw here was only a small fraction of the combat encounters available.
But you cannot compare this Game to God Of War 😅 .. it is so unfair, DontNod is a small French Studio with à rather small budget and Focus is also a French publisher ; i do think they made the most with what they had and it looks very promising ; but again, i might be the right audience for it, one of their game Vampyr is one of my favourites .. and i like games such as Vampire Swansong as well made by another French Studio. DontNod's best attribute in their game is the Scenario, it always have been .. give it a chance when the price drop. It remind me a bit of GreedFall, another French Game published by Focus 😊
I can see what you mean, but I would say the hits feel like they have more impact in-person. Not GoW level, but it feels pretty good. GoW is also Kratos hitting beefy enemies, so it’s suppose to feel like every hit has a lot of impact. Here, you’re a regular person mainly hitting ghosts. Still, I find the combat feels pretty good. I also have to agree with @pablo-ig7tx here. This is a AA game, not AAA, which means the budget was far smaller than something like GoW (Ragnarok cost $200M+ to make). With the smaller budget, I feel Don’t Nod really put their attention where it mattered and ended up with a AA game that can honestly hang with AAA titles. No, it’s not as good as GoW or some of the other top tier games out there, but it would be unfair to expect it to. Still, I feel it punches above its weight class.
@@Pablo-ig7tx Focus right now is maybe my favorite publisher, they published Evil West which I LOVE and they’re also publishing Space Marine 2 another title I absolutely adore waiting more than a decade for the sequel. But for me personally Combat is what satisfies me more in a game.
Pity the combat looks so clunky and monotonous. Just switching and bashing, no real cool moves to show off. But the idea is interesting, so I will get it anyway...
Maybe I didn’t showcase it well enough here, but Red’s ability to use the rifle, Antea’s spectral abilities, and the perfect switch mechanic definitely make it more than just bashing.
Maybe it's cuz it was a special combat area. Kind of like a tutorial ain't it. In the main world I should imagine you're free to play how you like more or less
@ArktixOfficial Nope, I think you did a great job! I'm totally in, the combat looks to be a pretty good upgrade from vampyr and I get some of those vibes in the style and approach but with more of a open world rather than openish zones
I am gonna be honest. Your handling of the combat did not sell me on this game. It looks incredibly slow. Maybe that is a skill issue but I am not impressed.
That probably wasn't the best example in this video. As I mentioned, most of what I showed was a specialized scenario where all damage was nerfed except for perfect switches and damage after dodges and such. In regular scenarios, the Banish is much stronger and is often a finisher.
Banishers could and should be so much more. For one, devs could have at least made different looking weapons for each unique bonus. There are tons of missed opportunities. Tbh, I’m halfway through the game and it’s beginning to get repetitive.
You can spec your skills and gear for a rifle build! It would be difficult to ONLY use the rifle, but you can certainly make it your main weapon with the right build.
So, it doesn't feel as tight as something like GoW and there's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun. My only real grip with it is that the parry its difficult to nail consistently and you have to run back to shelters to get more healing potions.
Very clunky for modern day discounts , im willing to buy this game only because of Reed's combat moves because its very similar to god of war , but im not a big fan of Antheas , pretty lame
I would say "severely lacking" is a big exaggeration. It's a lower budget game, so the combat mechanics don't feel as tight as something like GoW and there's also a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it's fun.

Does it have new game + mode ?
Good question! I’m not quite done with the main story, so I’m not sure. I’m trying to find out for sure before my review video goes live though!
Lot of similarities with God of War it’s uncanny
Yup! Definitely a lot of similarities to GoW.
When did GoW let you choose to kill important characters and lock off entire quests??
does it have pvp?\
Nope. Banishers is a single-player game.
It reminds of GOD OF WAR play style.
Absolutely! It feels very much like GoW. The switching between Red and Antea adds a unique twist though.
Dad of Boy combat? Dang not a fan, but I like the concept. Hope this one works out for Focus though. They make interesting games if nothing else.
Straight off the bat the reanimated enemies will get old in 5 minutes it looks like Souls Of War but yeah it's ok
I’ll admit the basic enemies do get a bit repetitive as you run around the world, but it takes a bit to figure out how to fight them effectively and there’s some cool bosses/minibosses around the world. What you saw here was only a small fraction of the combat encounters available.
Looks great, skull and bones on the other hand absolute garbage
Each blow in GOW feels heavy and has impact. Here the combat looks shallow, Evil West did a way better job than this.
100% agreed 👌🏼
Whren Stellar Babe preview? 😆
Just like Dark Souls
right, are there more unique special abilities?
I am gonna be honest. Your handling of the combat did not sell me on this game. It looks incredibly slow. Maybe that is a skill issue but I am not impressed.
Naw not even skill it just looks super slow on general
I wish the "Banishing" worked like a Takedown instead of minor damage.
That probably wasn't the best example in this video. As I mentioned, most of what I showed was a specialized scenario where all damage was nerfed except for perfect switches and damage after dodges and such. In regular scenarios, the Banish is much stronger and is often a finisher.
@@ArktixOfficialappreciate the clarification.
@@ArktixOfficialAside from Burst, how many other special abilities does she have?
No problem! Antea ultimately gets 4 special combat abilities (manifestations). Plus, there are the Perfect Switch combos that involve Red and Antea.
Banishers could and should be so much more. For one, devs could have at least made different looking weapons for each unique bonus. There are tons of missed opportunities. Tbh, I’m halfway through the game and it’s beginning to get repetitive.
I hope I can fight only with the rifle, because I don't like the torch at all.
You can spec your skills and gear for a rifle build! It would be difficult to ONLY use the rifle, but you can certainly make it your main weapon with the right build.
@@ArktixOfficial Nice! That's what I like to hear. I've played 1h and so far so good. Thanks for the answer.
Nice! Hope you're enjoying it 😁
Another 42% owned Tencent game 😢
No idea what that means…
combat seems janky and imprecise imho. Just being honest.
So, it doesn't feel as tight as something like GoW and there's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun. My only real grip with it is that the parry its difficult to nail consistently and you have to run back to shelters to get more healing potions.
@@ArktixOfficialAgreed. As I play more I parry more too though.
Very clunky for modern day discounts , im willing to buy this game only because of Reed's combat moves because its very similar to god of war , but im not a big fan of Antheas , pretty lame
Huh god of war mixed with the witcher interesting
The framerate on performanv emode is horrible 45 constant fps skmetimes 60 its horrible to play induces motion sickness
combat looks pretty difficult
There’s a learning curve for sure, but it gets easier as you get the hang of it.
Flop
Nah
I bought this and the combat mechanics suck. I regret the purchase.
Ya I think I will pass on this one
I'm already engaged and focused on completing it 100%. Combat is annoying and it gets a little repetitive but it's not so bad.
I just watched a review that said the combat is severely lacking .
I would say "severely lacking" is a big exaggeration. It's a lower budget game, so the combat mechanics don't feel as tight as something like GoW and there's also a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it's fun.
@@ArktixOfficial I’ve been waiting on this game for a while so I’m definitely getting it Tomorrow.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it 😁
I like games where you create your own player now a days
