Without loop closure, will there not be error? Does this error remain in the system or is it rectified by other any means if the robot does not come back to its initial pose?
There is really no limit. Depends on the implementation, Project Tango uses it to map the inside of a building while some folks we know have used to it map entire neighborhoods.
