    Excellent video and I agree with the title it is really stunning. The views of London on the final approach was brilliant. What a change to watch an aviation video of this quality and to hear the natural sound instead of the distraction of music like so many youtubers seem to upload these days. Thank you so much for posting as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Fabulous video, maybe not the best airport for nervous passengers though. I imagine London City Airport must cater mainly to business passengers because it's quite a long way to some of the main hotel and tourist areas. Traveling by tube from Heathrow to central London would only take 25 or 30 minutes longer.

    • @flyingdutchman2876
      @flyingdutchman2876  2 роки тому

      That depends a bit on the approach and the direction of the wind and also whether the sun is shining (you don't want to film on the sunny side, it will reveal the cracks and stains in the window, you will have autofocus issues and the contrast will be to high). I was sitting on the right hand side coming from Switzerland during easterly wind and no sunshine, which makes an almost perfect combination. Just make sure you have a proper window seat (check seatguru.com), fly a lot and hope for some luck. Press the camera very firm to the window to avoid unnecessary motions. Have fun!

      Was it a Flybe plane? We flew in one of their prop planes from Exeter to London City on the second flight, when that route started up in 2014. It was a bright clear day and we traveled along the south coast, up to the Dartford River Crossing and up the Thames. The views were spectacular, and the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth looked sooo tiny.

    You were lucky to get such a very clear view. I can tell you what some of the lesser known sites are. The River Darent & Erith Ness appear just after the Queen Elizabeth Bridge as you cross over the M25. Danson Park appears in your video at 7 minutes 40 seconds and Peckham Rye Park appears in your video at 9 minutes 43 seconds just before the plane turns North. You just missed Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena at North Greenwich after turning again at the Shard.

      Try flying at night. The approach to Stansted is impressive, you can see the whole estuary lit up, Essex, Kent, over to Hastings & northern France!

    I can't believe how close to the Shard it came. Can you imagine the noise in the offices inside the Shard?
