I live in SE Florida. It's a different lifestyle and classic often looks overdressed. The principles you teach can apply to any climate, but any tips on polished hot weather dressing will be appreciated.
A pr of Pearl studs will transform a tee shirt and jeans outfit. I have a very pale pink, thin belt that I love, in addition to a black, and medium brown. Silver hoops look great with a striped, nautical top. A classic pr of black loafers is a must have for me. I also like to have a navy pr with some type of hardware detail. Am eyeing a red pr at the moment.
I have similar challenges mentioned by the viewer from Florida. It gets up to 115 degrees in my locale, and the older I get, the more difficult it becomes to dress for the heat. I collect linen, of course, but if you have any tips for looking good in the heat, I'd be so grateful!! Thank you for another joy of a video!!!
You always look so put together! Living in SW Florida I rarely have an opportunity to dress in fall or winter blazers, scarves, etc. We have had more cold weather this year than normal though, so my blazer came out a couple of times! 😊 I do love all your lovely shoes and wish my poor feet could handle pointed toes and spike heels again - the way it used to be.😅
My feet never could tolerate pointed toes or spike heels! It was a huge problem finding appropriate shoes for my formal office that I could actually walk in. One of the best changes in fashion ever, is that comfortable mid-heel (less than 3 inches high) footwear is much more widely available now, thanks to the pandemic. It was the only good thing to result from it🙂
Loved your ideas and the accessory I get the most bang out of on trips is scarfs! We just spent three weeks in France and I changed up four outfits into many with the help of my scarfs. I was lucky to find some lovely new ones while there also. They take up such a tiny space and provide endless opportunities for new looks. Almost always get compliments and ladies often say, “I have a drawer full of scarfs and never remember to pull them out.” Thanks Beth.
I travel back and forth from Boston, Ma to the Tampa, Fl. The classic way of dressing is in my blood. Classic dressing and accessories you mentioned are very doable in Fl. It depends on whether or not you want to do it. You can count me in as one who does. Excellent video!
I love accessories! My first rule accessorizing: never use anything with initials that don’t match your name. My second rule is never dress with a logo unless the company is paying me to showcase their logo.
I totally agree! If they pay me i Will flash with brand names. In my country you Will also risk being attacked do second reason to skip it. When i was in venice i watched loads of chinese ladies dressed from top to Toe in loggoclothes. It wasnt looking elegant at all- just tacky
You flat-out look like a supermodel in the outfit with the blue cardigan, striped shirt, and yellow skirt. Wow! Stunning colors on you, and so elegant. (Must run out and get myself a yellow skirt!)
So often my focus has been on the garment. In actuality, better quality accessories and stylishly worn jewelry and scarves can make or break the look. Wise advice offered here! Thank you.
Color is my basic...Beautiful Pearl studs...choose several basic necklaces...accordingto your size...a few bracelets...A ring thatis you...leave clutter alone. Always a wonderful hairstyle, basic and flattering. Simple.
I lived in S Florida for 4 years. Just a youthful getaway. 😂 I missed Autumn Winter Clothes. Snow. Back to Long Island and NYC. Retired to N.J. High Heat Humidity in July August. More than enough
Another great video Beth! I think accessories take an outfit from ‘fine’ to ‘classy’. Jewelry, silk scarves, quality belts, stylish shoes - all the little touches add up to create a polished look. In hot, hazy summer weather - I like to wear casual dresses, linen suits, and good quality shorts and tees. Break out the cute sandals, handbags, sunglasses and hat - and you still achieve that put together look. My only personal rule is that I make sure everything is in good condition and tailored to fit. ❤
I live in the Phoenix area also and believe me, when it's summer (almost 6 months) we want to wear as little as possible. I look for lightweight vests that cover the right spots. Not easy to find though.
Beth, thanks to you, I have rediscovered belts and scarves! I always thought to wear a belt, you needed to be a size O. Well, no more. As you said, a belt really does finish off an outfit. Have always loved scarves, but forgot about them. How they transform an outfit is amazing. Thank so much.
Great ideas Beth, always enjoy your videos. Love accessories, especially those tried and true like pearl studs and gold hoops. Also large sunglasses and silk scarves. Hollywood, here we come. Lol 😂
I don’t have the space to store many new clothing items, but there’s always room for a few more accessories! I love gold and/pearl jewelry, silk scarves, and great genuine-leather bags, footwear* and belts. Also, they don’t have to be replaced, as my whole clothing wardrobe needed last year because of weight loss (50 lbs. over about five years). *shoes and boots are necessities, but function as accessories, too, the footwear sets the size tone of each outfit.
I very much appreciate all of your great ways to look good , however not all of us can afford these items can you maybe recommend some items that are more affordable. Thank you
I just found your channel and so happy I did. I love your style and since we are similar in age you are a godsend to me. My new favorite channel. I noticed your lipstick also and since I am a redhead I find it hard to fine colors that aren’t pink or red. Neither of those work on me. Could you share the name of your lipstick? Thank you
Welcome! I'm wearing lipstick and lipgloss from Pat McGrath. Here are the shopping links: rstyle.me/+4ssjdmeUPtF4BPf9_7QSBw rstyle.me/+9RQ_y_MGYwNtYiZdIGQnmg
My sunglasses have to be prescription, but this year I was finally able to get not only two different-style and -color prescription sunglasses, but two style/colors of clear prescription glasses as well (one pair is a frameless style from Silhouettes, the most comfy ever). I can’t wear contact lenses anymore because of an eye injury, but having this much variety in eyewear almost makes up for it! Younger women, like my college-age niece, love wearing clear glasses, whether they need prescription lenses or not, they wear plano glasses are a lot, just for the look, I love that. Contacts aren’t worn much in my profession anyway, I’m a geologist who worked in engineering my whole career, and glasses are much preferred in among the group of scientist and engineers, over contacts, too.
Love your videos, but there are elements of my style based on weather more than fashion. Raincoats with hoods are an essential for anyone who moves to Seattle. Similar is darker colored shoes. I once told a co-ed that she needed different shoes--she was in pink suede UGGs. They were cute in September and would be ruined by Halloween. I love jewelry, especially earrings. I've always tended towards yellow gold, but if I can find copper for summer, when I live in long tank dresses, I'm a happy girl!
I’ve always been right on time, it’s much more considerate to other people and has long been a habit. Even when I had a flat tire on my way to work (it was rare for me to drive in, rather than take the bus or ferry), I managed to be on time for work because I always allowed extra time. The only times I was late were in the first few days after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, after being turned away from overfull buses and ferries, but this mostly affected my homebound-trips. Being even a little early can be a problem for your host, so I never go to events too early. (My ex sometimes wanted to arrive an hour early, embarrassing our hosts who were just getting out of the shower, etc.). I plan and prepare for my events down to the minute, making a reverse time table beforehand, to cue me when to do each thing, like put a roast in the oven. I want the food arriving to the table piping hot, but not over overcooked, and everything beautiful and welcoming for my guests.
I don’t want to look expensive because guys going to think I’m reach and going to he disappointed, kidding, thanks for your advice and I know it’s about to look elegant comfortable and confident
imo, the major upgrade any woman can and should do is a great hair cut. put the money out for the best cut for your hair and be sure to interview a few salons as to what they suggest. nothing says cheap like cuts-r-us when your over 50 and cant hide the goofs with curls. take a picture of what you want and dont be shy..after all they have the shears so speak up before the cut

Very nice style overall, as well as speaking style which is very easy to listen to. The outfits and accessories looked fabulous. I did find the first 3.5 mins too long before getting started and think there was too much “filler” - most women would know the basics, I imagine - so I sped it up but it still was a bit waffly and often was too slow getting to the point. So I didn’t hit ‘subscribe’. May try another video another time as you have great style.
Please don't say ear rings... they look terrible on me. I just can't stand them on myself, love them on others. I live in S. FL and wear scarves with every outfit, I like how they look. I don't feel dressed without them. And since my arms are no longer athletic looking I always wear 3/4 length sleeves. And as I don't like my legs I wear pants, with excellent fit, 100% of the time.
Maybe 'expensive' isn't the best way to phrase it, but I want to look the best I can. Beth has shown me how to choose smarter more complimentary outfits, and the looks can be duplicated in many price ranges... (I have found some great dupes on QVC. )😊
I think rather than expensive she is trying to tell us to dress showing respect for ourselves but choose your own style, something that makes you happy and comfortable!
She's talking about the web page you showed for the watchband you had on. I also noticed it and that some, if not all were in the 100s of dollars. Most of us can't afford to buy watchbands, purses, shoes, jewelry at that price. Maybe one item, but not all. I have purchased expensive looking gold hoops at places like Marshalls that don't cost in the 100s.
Maybe Coco Chanel DID take one piece off! I watch a lot of these videos, and I am starting to get tired of the words effortless and elevate. Everyone is starting to sound the same and I’m longing for some individuality! I thought the photos you used were great.

My approach, is no waist seam. I wear shift dresses, and linen or seersucker overalls.
@@EvelynSaungikar No waist seam makes perfect sense, I'll remember that! Thank you!!

I live in SW FLORIDA. I love your style tips. While we live a very casual lifestyle, we also love to go out on special occasions.
You look stunning in everything. Love your haircut too.
Oh thank you!

Thank you! I just love that color combo!
thank you! I found this to be very helpful in updating my style & wardrobe.
Glad it was helpful!
Well done ! I appreciate your straight to the information.

And accessories last a lifetime!
Chanel is my favorite style but I will not follow her advice on jewelry because clearly she does not follow it herself!!
Thank you, Beth! Enjoyed this helpful video so much!😊
Thanks. This content is like a virtual cheat sheet for the upscale look I need.👋🏽

A stylish haircut adds the crowning glory.
A good haircut & colour is a must to looking great 😊 Beth I enjoy your videos .
Which is impossible to get with thinning hair.
I also live in Miami, Florida but love all your advice ❤
So glad!
You look great and so put together. Thank you for the tips!

The power of a gorgeous clutch, I agree. Thanks for good advices Beth! 🥰
My pleasure!
uggg! I hate when I’m talking to someone and they become enthralled with the message on their wrist!
LOL! I hope you feel that way when someone picks up their phone.
same here. AZ is a challenge for some months of the year!
Noted!
It is a special challenge when you get to the age where you want to hide your arms.
I’m in Arizona too. I’m retired so my fashion stops for the 6 months of extreme heat!!
Help us Beth!!❤

Beth I love accessories. I have so many but this really helped me! I need a small room just for accessories. I loved this video it was perfect❤❤
I'm so glad!
Love your take on style! Today, I love this green print blouse you are wearing. Please share the source! Thanks
We link all the clothing items in the description box.
Good morning. Great seeing you this morning. Pat in NC
Same to you!
I refuse to be a free walking add for a designer. Especially after paying top dollar. In my opinion, it's not classy nor elegant.
Great ideas Beth, always enjoy your videos. Love accessories, especially those tried and true like pearl studs and gold hoops. Also large sunglasses and silk scarves. Hollywood, here we come. Lol 😂
You can never go wrong with any of those accessories! Thanks for stopping by!

Beth, you are so beautiful that all looks great on you. Greetings from Tennessee 😊
Oh thank you!
Love...your advises😊
Thanks so much!
A great purse or jewelry piece is a place I will spend a little more money. A classic great clutch or shoes can go the distance.
Couldn't agree more!
This is for women with m.oney, right ?
First thing is to quit wearing ripped clothes and pajamas in public.
I told. A person to not come to my home in pjs any more....
I like my distressed jeans! 👖 making them up with a stylish blouse and accessories !!
Smart watches might be practical but definitely not elegant
it is on Beth :)
Amazon have nice bands for smart watch’s 😊

The most important thing is to be slim.
And where do you get that? (I have seen great fashion for plus-sized but it takes a great eye & sense to do it with flair).
I love earrings
Before I take one thing off, I put something extra on😂
😂😂😂
Too cute!
Love this chanel

Easy-to-say
No waist, therefore no belt, EVER!
Just found you...kudos!
Welcome!
Classy!🙏
Thanks so much!
I read recently, that Coco never did say that. And looking at the pictures of her I’m pretty sure she didn’t.
LOL!
Advice from my mom that I agreed with: Replace plastic buttons with metallic ones.

Did I see the Caviar watch at "$40,000.00?"
No! The caviar watchband is approximately $600

Maybe 'expensive' isn't the best way to phrase it, but I want to look the best I can. Beth has shown me how to choose smarter more complimentary outfits, and the looks can be duplicated in many price ranges... (I have found some great dupes on QVC. )😊
But I wear my Fanny pack with everything. At least it’s a designer bag. Lol

$40,000 FOR A WATCH BAND...WHAT ordiENCE r u going for
LOL! There is no watchband going for $40.000. No idea what you're referring to.
She's talking about the web page you showed for the watchband you had on. I also noticed it and that some, if not all were in the 100s of dollars. Most of us can't afford to buy watchbands, purses, shoes, jewelry at that price. Maybe one item, but not all. will NOT wear a smart watch
