We picked up this scale model aircraft on an amazing Christmas sale and decided to get it out again for you all to do a 4 month follow up flight. The E-flite Piper Cherokee rc airplane features a 1.3m wingspan. It also has NAV lighting, flaps and a full-flying stab, plus 3-4S LiPo compatibility. This radio control plane sure surprised us!

TheRcSaylors Name the pilot “Ralph”... cuz you said the plane could go “TO THE MOON”, if you wanted.
😉 ✈️ 🌙
The Major problem woth this plane is parts always seem to be on back order. Even prior to the pandemic major problems woth parts always out of stock.
Pilots name should be Frank
I started watching your channel when the shut down started. Since then I have purchased 12 planes for myself, my girlfriend, my daughter, and my granddaughter... Now it's 13.
I would name the pilot "Chip". Cherokee Chip.
kr6dr I second for Chip!
Wow, I'm doing the same thing, but I'm Only on #9, but only one was for my grandson. So glad I'm not the only one!lol
Hey Saylors, thanks for that low and slow scale flying of a gorgeous scale airplane. Not everyone wants to tear around through the air doing prop stands, inverted flying and full throttle for 5 minutes. My Pitts and clipped wing Cub are scale and meant to fly like that, but a Cherokee, a Cessna 182 or a B-25 Mitchell were not, yet a lot of UA-camrs fly them like Extra 300s. If that makes you happy go rip it up, but there are a lot of us who love scale looks, scale flybys, love imagining that it's the real thing. So again, thanks for the video. I am going to buy one from HobbyTown today!
Spiff, if you enjoyed our video so much, please consider ordering through our link provided in our video description box. We work really hard to provide this free content for everyone, and ordering through our link doesn't cost you a single extra penny, but we actually get a small kick back for you doing so. If however, the hobby shop was able to provide a better demonstration of the airplane and offer you more information than what we provided, by all means support them. We greatly appreciate your consideration to support us for our hard work. Thank you, and Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓
Glad to hear you giving thanks to God, we love watching y’all. I’m a 43 y/o trucker who just started flying a Mini Apprentice S. Keep up the good work!
I have the Piper in my hangar and I love flying it. I fly on 4s 3200 and its an amazing plane with great characteristics.
“Foamy half man”. Love your videos. I have a Cherokee that’s a smaller version and not 3d. Beautiful plane and great flying and camera work.
As a retired Airframe and Powerplant Technician I worked on that aircraft type for a flight school. That looked so real until the loop and roll LOL! :D Great flying!
I bought this plane and love it!!!
It’s a shame it has already been discontinued.
Thank you guys for all you do and keep up the good work God bless!!!
Love the extra fly by!! That could be fun too, having some of your friends flying their planes too. Thanks for the follow-up on the Cherokee! Love that plane!
Always fun to watch you guys flying! Keep it up!
That is a Smooth Flyer! You Really have me Wanting Planes Now!! Looks like a Lot of Fun! 👍👍😎
That is a lovely plane. Looks as though you could fly it scale or have some aerobatic fun with it too.
I'm a student pilot on the actual pa28 ...the entire horizontal stabilizer moves up and down along w/trim tab. This model is 99.5% near scale the real plane...nice stuff!!
This was great trainer back in the 60s an 70s...I did my first solo in a 140..back in 1977..it was a blast to fly!! I wish Piper woul go back to building them again!!!🐦🐦🐦
Love flying mine here in Victoria off the grass.
Hey Saylors! Nice video and nice plane. That all-moving horizontal stab is faithful to the full scale Cherokee.
You may have just made me spend money.
I agree that plane is one of my favourite scale flyers.
4s really woke that baby up!!! Pretty sick!
Nate and Abby -- I know I speak for many of your subscribers who appreciate your efforts to publish frequent content. One reason I enjoy your channel is that you review rc products for beginners and novice hobbyists. And it's nice to see you revisiting your favorites as well, giving us additional information on the products you enjoy during your time off camera. However I do have a question. At Nate's skill level, and given the choice of owning either the Valiant 1.3m or the Cherokee 1.3m, which would you prefer? -- Thank you and stay safe.
Just received my new Cherokee. Can’t wait to maiden it!! Flyvalleyreview
Have fun!
Great rc plane. The real aircraft is easy to fly as well. Another great video. Take care mate.
Love the looks of this plane it's going to be a goal probably not my first one though lol
I love the general aviation planes. I started with a park zone cub, then a umx turbo timber, carbon cub s2 1.3m, that when I knew I was hooked in the hobby. My next plane was a draco, then a carbon z cessna 150t, RV-7, cirrus sr22, then a trojan t28 1.2 with retracts. My next is going to be something EDF. The progression in this hobby is very close to how you described it. I don't own the Cherokee but it was a hard 2nd contender to the cirrus when I got it. I'm sure this is a great 2nd plane for someone getting into this.
Very nice, with so many flying events being cancelled,we need a new RCS Fest
Beautiful plane, you guys are great, enjoy your content, keep it comin👍🏼👍🏼👊🏼🔥
what a sweet plane guys flys really good thanks for the upload.
Love the channel and love the suggestions on planes. I actually have thought about buying this plane but with my budget have to really think which plane to get. I did recently buy the Arrows Bigfoot based on your review of it and the great price I got. Thank You!!! Still need to build it and maiden if the rain ever lets up.
Getting better at flying I see
What do you think Abby? " On 3s!" I'll second that!! Flies really nice.
I enjoyed watching it more before the 4S battery actually.
(Reference to the movie "Airplane!") Shirley.
and don't call me Shirley! lol
Im looking at this for a second airplane. Currently fly a TTE.
It has never been discontinued.
I bought the Cirrus sr22t 1.5m instead of the Cherokee. Love all the scale bits and interior lighting.
Wild Bill , Great plane
So in South Africa this thing shipped, ready to fly costs about a month’s salary for a middle income earner which puts it out of reach of many but I was lucky, a friend got one and very early in its life he lost signal (as one does with Spektrum) and hit a tree, he was so disappointed he just wanted to get rid of the thing so sold it to me with a battery and the useless AS3X Rx for the equivelant of around $60! The only damage was a small dent in the LE about half span and that wing root was pulled out - a tiny bit of epoxy and ten minutes of repair and it’s good as new! I am still waiting to maiden but I will almost certainly be modifying mine as a twin so I can have my dream come true and own a Seneca. I designed a very simple mod to twin that allows me to convert back to a cherokee, the whole Jose comes off and the twin wing mounted engines are basic foam shells around ply motor mounts that just attach to the wing with screws. I’ve already completely transformed the cabin and cockpit with a scale pilot, detailed accurate panel, yokes, seat harnesses and even a miniature copy of the aviation magazine I work for in the cockpit, other mods were the scale stiffeners on the Venter section belly, a fat exhaust stub, static wicks, wing root gap seal runners, various antenna and ports and Piper style pitot under the wing - last will be a repaint with Piper placard decals
I love the chubby fuselage. Very cool.
Wish we were allowed out of the house here in Pa ! Nice plane Nate
Let's hope things start to open up safely soon 👍⚓😎
Piper Aarow is a retract but the Piper Cherokee 6 which this is based off is more of a family plane. The Cherokee 6 means you can get 6 people in the plane.
I like this plane, I'm thinking about getting one but I already have the Carbon Cub on order and a couple of Master Series planes from FT
"Hey Abby maybe il give you a shot next time"😆
Great Video, I agree with “Peter” as a Piper pilot
Now that is an awesome name too 😃👍😎⚓
Nice scale flight on 4S....like 50 G maneuvers at mach 1.5 scale flight! Even steele gut Steve (the pilot) is puking and bleeding out of his ears after those insane maneuvers! 😂
Hey, I have this plane and I speed tested it
Straight is just going straight and level with no dives. Dive is diving from about 300-500ft and leveling out about 20-30ft above the ground and going straight and level after that. This was done on a low wind day.
3S 2200 straight 66mph
3S 2200 dive 81mph
3S 3200 straight 59mph
3S 3200 dive 82mph
4S 3200 4S straight 82mph
4S 3200 4S dive 93mph
I think the 4S in a dive is limited a lot by aerodynamics. With some modifications I think it could hit 100mph.
Tests were done with a dynamite GPS speed meter.
Batteries were all venom and 30C
Abby we all know Nate isn’t good at being quiet. LOL. But all in fun love every minute of his info and opinion. Love love love that plane . Toss up between it an the RV7. .
With a 4S call him Chuck!
@TheRcSaylors
Can you do the v900? 120mph+ airplane. $180. 3 and 4s powerhouse. Can you do a review?
Name the pilot Cherokee Charlie! Great video!
Right place right time
Love it. Just got a fpv race drone and planning on another plane or 2 very soon
I learned in a PA-28. I think I’m going to buy this model. I want to see if it flies like the real thing.
I have a carbon cub and a few umxs, and this is DEFINITELY the next plane I’m getting. I’m asking for it for my birthday and that’s in 2 months
I won our club fun fly contest last year with this plane last year. It is a great all round plane.
Nate I tell you the truth, this plane you fly as good as you say you are.
You would have loved the Eflite Taylorcraft from a few years back. It was a great scale flyer. I loved flying it about 6 feet off of the ground down the runway. Looked really scale. Scared to fly it now. Can't fix it if I break it.
Thanks as always! Respectfully the best thing to come along is not H/H smart batteries. It's Frsky and cheap telemetry. I know exactly how much battery I have left on every flight and have been enjoying such for more than five years. I love H/H but man, it's about time. Again, really appreciate you guys.
I think you should call the pilot "Dizzy" in honor of those impressive snap rolls!
You're right Abby. Less is more when it comes to constant commentary. Cool plane.
4S made huge difference....👍
Stop reading my mind Nate 😋. I’m buying a aero scout tomorrow and I was literally going to comment tonight and ask about setting a lipo alarm because I’ve never owned a plane that wasn’t a 1s powered plane. Lol kind of freaked me out that you literally picked tonight to mention lipo alarms.
Cool plane I'll get one soon thank's guys always enjoy your videos name it Popeye Piper 🐶
Nice plane and verrry fast 👍👍👍👍
How did I miss this? Nice Nate, really Nice. I just purchased an older Horizon Pawnee Brave! It has interior lighting throughout the plane. The thing glows at night! I am so excited to fly it. I intend to upgrade the motor from a 750kv to a 800 kv and replace the two blade prop someone switched out back to a 3 blade. I couldn't find a 10x8 as was original so went to a 11x 7.5. No one sells a 10x8. I have no Idea why. The Pawnee has the heavy aluminum type landing gear that I am not a fan of. The E- Flite Truck also has the aluminum type gear if memory serves me correctly. The Truck is the same as the Pawnee. I found that interesting.
Ok your pilots name is Darol. Love the hobby and your channel.
Norman! LOL
We need to get Norman back in the air soon 👍⚓😎
Gary where you been at I've been waiting for your flight you playing hooky LOL just kidding nice to see you in here Gary Squad hey check out my comment on your last flight
You guys should review the E-flite Twin Otter
My first plane was the Flyzone Calypso, followed by the Flyzone Sensei, and then the Dynam Waco. The eFlite Cherokee came in fourth, and it is a gorgeous plane. Part of the attraction for me, was that, a few years ago, my wife and kids gave me a certificate for an introductory flying lesson for Father's Day, and I got to fly a real Cherokee.
Alas, after only a few flights, I made the mistake of not checking my rates switch when I took off, so every movement of the sticks resulted in way too much response. Before I figured out what was going on, the Cherokee crashed. Had it happened now, I likely would have recovered, due to having a lot more flying experience, but at that time, I hadn't developed the reflexes yet. I still haven't decided if she's repairable. It's still questionable whether the damaged parts can be repaired, and if they need replaced, I'm right about at the point where it would be cheaper to buy another PNP, than to buy the replacement parts. She's the only crashed plane that I haven't repaired (yet).
Watching yours, makes me want to get it in the air again.
Haahaaa..name em ..Mr.peppers..👊🤓👍
The most revealing thing you've ever said: "smart batteries are the best thing to hit the hobby since foam". My Cherokee is in the post - I plan to do the world's only twin Cherokee - pretty much a Seneca to the uninitiated but those who know know that the Seneca is actually a twin Saratoga/Cherokee6 but there's no reason the Cherokee 140/180 airframe can't be converted to twin and it looks great too. BTW its referred to as a 'stabilator', or an 'all flying stab'.
Awesome plane!! Good third plane?
Looking at this for future..
Abby, I'm intimidated by all of them. I'm only a park flyer and I'm happy if I land in the same park that I took off in!
Seems like every time you guys go out to the field, it's about to rain lol
Andy was a rock, Stryker fell apart! I like Stryker. That really is a great looker!
Good stuff, thanks guys !!!
Nice video guys
Another great video. Might be my 4th, and first low wing.
SWEET piper!! Pilot name: Wimpy!! GREAT JOB SAYLORS and thanks!! 💟👍😘
nice lookin plane...i've got the cirrus
I think you should call the pilot "CHIP" good night from Las Vegas
I'd love an RC plane, just know fine well it's going to end up either lost or broken on its maiden flight haha . Love watching them fly though
You should try one of the horizon hobby UMX series that speaks to you ;) CHEAP (!), durable because it's light weight, and quite precision along with advanced safety features. You will get hooked immediately 😂. Do it! Do it! I love flying all my life, it's just a feeling that I can't describe
Nice video that’s a nice looking plane I have a question for you all I have a hobby zone Air scout Can I use the same transmitter And Band it with a airplane like this
Yes you definitely can 👍⚓😎
@@TheRcSaylors I watched both videos of this plane and thought you should know that the link to but it isn't working
I think he should be called "Crazy Joe Tempest" because of the song "Cherokee" by Europe whose singer is Joey Tempest.
The pilot should totally be called Peter
“Peter flies the piper”
Have you noticed this plane over rotating with the stabilator or does the who thing move? The real Cherokee the whole horizontal stab moves
ive had my eflite cherokee for 2 years now and always fly it flat out on 3300mah 4s and have never had an esc or motor failure with it...
Nice flying day, except for maybe an unfortunate Bumblebee🛩 🐝. I would vote for Stevens pick, guy sounds like he lived for flying. Sorta like Nate. You should have flown Abby =/ on air /=. ⚓⚓👍👍🌈💞🌈👍👍⚓⚓.
Kinda early squad where you guys at stay safe all 😎😎😎😎😎⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Sorry! YT's a bit late tonight! lol 😂
👍⚓👍
But I *just got* the Notification!
😩
No early squad here bud. This is USA meaning it is NIGHT time....
RAV3N FPV it’s night for me to lol 😂 I say early squad for subscribers watching there vids early not cause of day tune or night time lol 😂
Hey Nate! Would you say the Cherokee is like a low-wing cousin to the Valiant? People seem to underestimate that plane a lot, too.
Hi, where and how do you keep all the planes. Do you have special storage location for them. They take up so much place. Keep up the great content. I r really like it and it really helps when you aren't allowed to fly. Greetings from Belgium.
Wow
Pilot looks like Pip ! imho stay safe and my best regards from Alan in the UK 👍👍🤗🤗🐕👼
You guys ever think about doing a fpv wing?
The pilot must be chuck Yeager
I used to follow you every day. Since you rarely fly drones now, I rarely watch now.
Would love to see your own project plane, for xample headtracking on a plane etc. That would be great. Im sure with your xperience in the hobby, i believe u must have your own preference.
I think I’m pick this up soon lol y’all made it look so fun I got to have one
Dang nate! Nailed it on the head! First plane was the aeroscout 1.1M, then the Eflight P47d razorback, then I got the umx turbo timber and the umx citation longitude, the aeroscout and umx turbo timber I picked up the day you reviewed them! I’m looking into edf’s now and I’m favoring the viper, it’s got flaps for a slower landing and the speed I crave! What do you think? Think I can handle the viper as a 5th plane? Fly with the DX8E transmitter
Love the plane. If you get a chance to fly a Cirrus, definitely give it a try!
Looks amazing
The field your fly at... is that the same place you run on the oval track? Looks like the Tristate Model Flyers Field. Do they allow anyone to use the track or you gotta be a club member?
I have the Eflite Cirrus. Which has a similar airframe. There’s no doubt in my mind Abby could fly this without safe. If she could shake the nerves lol.
