AoE2: DE Campaigns | Sundjata | 4. Blood on the River Bank

- Remember the infinite gbeto bug in HD? Yeah now it's the opposite...
In this scenario, Sundjata is finally powerful enough to take on the Sosso in a pitched battle along the Niger River. You have way less to start with, so you must defend long enough to (theoretically) gain the support of Sumunguru's allies. Once you (theoretically) have their support, you can take down your rival!

27:19 you get control, i think you need to clear the "prison" and all the building in it, or atleast the castle.
I remember when the princess ran away after i destroyed the gate but I couldn't control her yet. Once I gain control of the princess an enemy Cavalier is charging towards her
27:19 This was so infuriating to see you getting control of the princess and letting yourself get distracted at the EXACT same time!
I have some other version of the campaign apparently, because in hard difficulty I got thrashed by the green and yellow AI with waves after like 2-3 minutes into the game every time I tried to play.
I believe the AI was patched to be more aggressive. Try walling up. Walling up really helps in campaigns and AI.
I thought this was the Boer Zulu battle that happened 16/12/1838 at Blood River
By following your early booming strategy I was able to win on hard (with lots of pauses of course :) Also I think when you played there was a bug that prevented you from getting the achievement. Thanks again!
personally i won this mission on hard the same way i win most scenarios on hard: Walled of the entirety of your base, maybe a castle behind and turtle. This scenario even lets you build a wonder.
the DE Scenario AI is really bad with walls in almost all scenarios. they dont know what to do and just park their melee units behind them without attacking the walls.
The Mema will stop attacking you as soon as you get near the Castle where the princess is guarded... so you can rush the castle with your initial scout and get the green to stop attacking you
Maybe it's not even worth trying to protect Malian trade outpost?
Coincidental or not, but the yellow player always offers the alliance soon after the dock is destroyed.
- Don't forget You can get achievement "With the Help of My Sisters" for amassing 100 gbeto after helping princess.
It was just 100? I got more than 400 and it doesn't stop to spam warriors until I won the mission
That bug didn't happen for me with the Gbeto princess. I (somehow) got control of her and sent her back to the castle. I destroyed all buildings in that little outpost and it worked.
I think the princess gets converted to your color once the castle in the outpost gets destroyed. What happened here was that she unfortunately got converted right when she was under a sumanguru tower.
@@Jullan-M And that Ornlu looked away from her at that exact point 😂
@@Jullan-M The newest update I think only converts her to your side if you destroy all the enemy buildings in that camp. I didn't get her until every last building was destroyed
"It's not my fault! The girl ran off and killed herself!"
Help, I'm being attacked by Sumanguru! He's outside my house, hitting my door with his sword!
This campaign is only Sosso so far. Geddit??! Also, for an infantry civilisation, it sure is frustrating having to march champions across such large, sparse maps.
sending siege weapons undefended! are you Iraqi man?
tough mission, sad red has infinite resources. won with 20x cavalary, 35x cavalry archer, (just realized how garbage is the cavalry archer with its delayed ranged attack) 5x monk and 5x treb. 2x castle at front filled with archers, also killed yellow first
Indeed, it is a stupid mission because of those infinite resources of red because you run out wood in the end.
@@marnixds well idk if you have played the other missions, (im still doing it all on hard) but the new DE campaigns and DLC campaigns have enemies with infinite resource and infinite unit spam on every mission
@@fnzvsaz5216 I have not noticed this so much yet just here but I saw that you can also win this building a wonder because it is complicated to battle a wave of soldiers and you can´t advanced a lot unless you battle them on 2 flanks.
Try defense of the Grey ally and make out the Secondary Objective of destroying the towers. It's another Tabasco defense! XD
27:30 Omlu the Wolf although good player (but not so intertaining and nice) as Viper and Hera sometimes does mistakes because he is taking much of the moves of the enemy not serious hahaha "what now!!!!!!!! pain in the eyers....NOW!!! I need to figght the mema guy toooo, Mummmyyyyy :) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Praise the Mali STEEL army of champions!!! hahahahahahah
yeah its hard since there's lack of resources.
I won by making Yellow Ally then later build 2 castles at their base.
Later I start building docks at the Green Base then cannon galleons to free the Princess.
After that, Green start attacking red.
Since resources is slowly dissapearing, I just mass trade carts and build a super economy & slowly took my time to beat red.
Man in this game you really don't have time to take your time and get things moving... this took me almost 2H
same here but the omlu works wiht his champions ... me and you as moderate players work with cammel or cav and with rams or tribushet >()))))))
@@svaraeigdusvojl I only worked with trash units. The the Imperial Age unique tech gives cavalry +5 attack, so a total of +7. I used Pikemen in the early game to get rid of Sumanguru's Camels and only spammed Scout Cavalry later on because they are cheaper in terms of wood. Used Trebs to destroy Sumanguru's buildings and that was pretty much it. It was kind of easy after I sent my first scout near the place where the princess is held, so Mema wasn't an issue. Nor was the wood because I just sent vills to Mema's village to chop wood from there 😂
Yeah i don't know what the script designer devs is thinking. I play on moderate and it feels like it's hard actually. Enemy attacks very very early with huge amount of troops.
Here's silly me, having just finished this campaign in HD building almost nothing but gbetos and a few rams and trebs, and wonder why nobody on UA-cam (in DE though) builds gbetos. Why, I wonder, am only I so smart!?
Well, now I know.
This campaign or rather this civ Gets kind of boring because. All you really need to do On any of the scenarios where you can build abac. Or have access to castles, Is get your Eco up and running and get to castle, age and build gambetos. And that's it, They may be glass cannons, but they f****** annihilate. Everything once in large numbers. You don't really need to do anything else, It can be helpful to nix in some cavalry. Now and again, but for the most part sixty gambetos , Elite and fully upgraded.
Washes away everything cause you can replace them just as quickly as they die and they're great at. Taking down towers that are hiding behind walls.
Sick and tired of these missions where the enemy attacks so fucking early before you have any chance to build up any defence or troops!!! I had no idea red would send so many camels, infantry and even rams as soon as you green and yellow's requests
