“New York isn’t in that top 5 for me because the accessibility to know the spots. It’s really hard to find great spots unless you’re from there….They aren’t a super welcoming group of people. They want you to be a tourist and that’s it.”

He's totally on the money about New York. I'm a New Yorker and one of the main reasons why we don't like touristy people at local spots and hidden gems is because as soon as the word gets around about those places they started catering to tourists, upping the prices of food and lowering the quality.
But, it’s the biggest tourist spot in the country
As a native Houstonian, and former Chicago resident. Chicago is definitely a city that likes to mix and match and come up with all kinds on new food creations. Salute!
Yea Chicago is def a food city. As is Houston. I'm a Houstonian too n know Im gon eat good in the Chi
Chicagoan here, born and raised, and our food is soooo good but New Orleans is #1 hands down to me. I absolutely love Houston though. Everytime I go, I get some Frenchy's. Lol
Funny. I was born in Chicago, then lived 25 years in Houston and now 11 years in NYC. There is no comparison between NYC and Houston. Houston is FAR better food. I was a little too young in Chicago to remember the food except pizzeria Uno ☺️
@@HumanBeFlychicgao is not like that
I'm in Milwaukee I love the food here and then I go to Chicago sometimes for the food.
Keith is one of the most genuine human beings I’ve ever seen in my life.
Louisiana food hits different
💯💯
Louisiana is a state.
@@blackblake3658and?
Louisiana has the best seasoned food. And it ain't 504 it's 337. Iykyk
It was terrible in my opinion. I went to NOLA for the first time in June. They cook way too much with swine. Just way too disgusting for me
THIS MAN IS SO RIGHT ABOUT ATLANTA!!! the bad customer service is just rampant! people who THINK they know the restaurant business out here trying to copy what they saw somewhere else. very VERY few places in OUR community that are about the QUALITY and not about being seen. not to mention hoping your catalytic converter will not be stolen!!
😂😂😂
Atlanta is overrun with transplants ,90% of the restaurants in the city of Atlanta aren't run by people from Atlanta. This is not the same city I grew up in. Downtown used to be mostly local mom and pop stores and restaurants. Now it is saturated with out of town entrepreneurs and corporations. 7 -10 people you meet aren't from here. ( I'm only in my 30s)
I live here.. he's 100 percent right.
@@blinkonce29facts im 21 born and raised. looking at my old photos and pics from the 90s u can’t see the streets and how much has changed… not just architecturally.
Lol 😅😂😅😂
He aint lying about NYC wanting to keep it's secret spot on the low...LOL.
The gatekeeping is real. Once a place blows up prices and accessibility is over.
Yea because we greedy af, once the owners see tourist at their spot prices double at that spot and lines out the door.
He is right tho i grew up in nyc so my experience when i visit will be different then someone visiting for the first time .😂You can't blqme new yorkers tho .There are 10 million plus in new york city alone.Lets not forget the migrants and people visiting so if a place blows up its gonna be hard too visit .
Gatekeeping is on another level in NY😭😭
Its understandable. The tourism is ocer the top if there are no secret local spots, nyc will be unlivable for locals
Chicago has great food for whatever you have a taste for 🔥
Chicago has such great food 😋😋
Louisiana is a state where you can stop off any exit driving through and get amazing food…New Orleans is definitely the top but the whole state is just purely amazing when it comes to food
yeah, if you only eat seafood & fried anything 🤣
New Orleans is obviously more popular , but I had better food in the 337 area, no disrespect to the NO but that’s just my honest humble opinion. Ps why do ppl from NO get mad when someone say that 337 food is better than 504
@ you’re one of the few, some ppl really get in their feelings about it
As an old head that has traveled to USA and the World, No one can really argue with New Orleans and Houston. It would be straight up hating. Those two cities definitely valid. Still remember the first time I visited New Orleans back in the day and sat down for a regular ole plate of fried catfish.🤯 That was decades ago and still that place is hard to beat… And Houston literally has a sprinkling of New Orleans plus supreme Tex-Mex!
Im from New orleans, and honestly, there are good places and bad places in every city I've been to. But the food is cultural and stands out southern Louisiana.
NYC got the best food simply off of it's diversity but like he said he's judging off of accessibility... NY is HUGE so an outsider is definitely not gonna know where to go
I agree
This comment shows you know NOTHING about Htown 😂
Miami has diversity so does Houston,LA ,Toronto, and New Orleans and have better food
@@beenSol00 u gone have to prove that

Moved From Chicago a few years ago. Shout out to Mariano's grocery. That was the best grocery store I've ever seen. The most delicious hot food! I hope
They're still in business!!
I miss the Chinese food in Chicago as well. Great times!!
Yes, Mariano's and Chinese food still hitting here🥰
Hello, any suggestions for Chinese food restaurants in Chicago?
Where you move to because you must not have been to a Wegmans or HEB
@agegotyou25 what side of the city??
Me too. Like Chicago Chinese food more than Houston.
You dont have to be in the know to find good food in NYC. The city has such a competitive restaurant industry that forces restaurants to actually cook good food.
The problem with NYC though is it’s expensive. Yes you can get good food for $100-200 but what if you just want cheap and good eats on a normal basis like something for takeout?
@@reneek1672lol? That price is so outrageous. You talk about eating a Michelin star restaurants. You don’t think NYC has hood spots? NYC has good food for every price range
Plus you don’t need to know the spots when there’s a ton of food Apps.
If Keith isn't an undercover Michelin employee, them cats are definitely watching his channel for new spots off the radar to check out😸🤷🏾♂️.
Keep up the good work, Sir. Big Up & Bless Up
The New York City Wine and Food Festival is based in New York because NY has one of the
best, most vibrant, and robust food scenes in the world. People travel to NYC from around the world just to attend this event.
Ppl travel to NYC bc they dk better.
Yeah but like he said he's focused on the AA community and there's good food to be found but it's spread out and probably not the same density of a place like New Orleans or another chocolate city. I'm from here and I have a problem finding good soul food at times
@@Prodigious1stBorn ....He did not mention soul food. Great cuisine is scattered all across the city. If I don't know where to go for a particular cuisine, and want to explore, I defer to the enclaves. For example, when I want great soul food, I usually have to go to Harlem. For great Asian food I usually go to Chinatown. For great Caribbean food I go to Flatbush Brooklyn or Queens. For Indian food I go to Queens.
It only the best to NYers because y'all actually believe your best at everything. So comical.
@@earth2air2water
He didn't mention soul food specifically but he said "people who look like us,and come from the same background" which is African American cuisine aka Soul Food. Besides Sylvia's in Harlem, As an NYC native and resident, I struggle to come up with an institution known as a destination strictly for Soul Food.
Texas in general has SO many options. Our neighbor once told us she sold her house and moved to Houston for the food. We from the Chi!

See, I'm okay with my city New York not being on his top 5. New York has the most diverse cuisine in the world, with well over 700 languages and upwards of 1,000 cultures, we have everything here. But all the food from New York just fits. We have the best of some dishes, the only of some dishes, and other dishes that are just okay. New York is a food capital because it's the only city where the entire world can find home.
We might not be the “best”, but we'll take the crown for the greatest.
I concur 💯
It’s not even that serious
YALL SELFISH!
Stop playing 🗑️
I agree. If I want to try Eastern European food, theres South Brooklyn. Authentic Asian food? There's various neighborhoods for that. Caribbean food? Jamaica Queens, the North Bronx, Flatbush & Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn. Greek food? Egyptian restaurant? Astoria. There are a lot of choices here.
Born and raised in toronto and hes not wrong! One of the most multiracial cities in the world. So the food spots are endless
Multiracial ? Please, it’s only Indians there
@ 😂😂 don’t get Toronto confused with Brampton. But yes Multiracial, when you can find all different types of cuisine pretty much anywhere in the city you go than id like to think so.
@@loonatic42you’re rather ignorant AND know nothing about Toronto.
@@loonatic42Toronto is definitely multicultural. Majority of the Indians live in Brampton which is like a 40 minute drive west from Toronto.
Toronto has cultures from all over the world. Authentic people making their authentic cuisine. T.O has it ALL baby!!
As a New Yorker, I get what he's saying. He's right but we do that because there's so much money and people here that if a restaurant gets too hot it can change a neighborhood. I grew up within walking distance of Katz's deli (80's) and that neighborhood is DIFFERENT now. We don't want that to happen in other places. New York has spectacular food tho
Yes Chicago...we do have great food and culture here.
Yes my home town Chicago 🙌🏿🙌🏿 we got the BEST FOOD!!
We do have some amazing food but I agree NOLA is definitely #1. I would probably put us before Houston though.
I’m from New Orleans…want to take a trip to Chicago. Where should I go?
@tswagg504 millennium park, downtown Chicago the magnificent mile
S/o to New Orleans and Baton Rouge for getting the recognition ⚜️⚜️⚜️
Keith reason for New York not being a top 5 makes sense. You really gotta be from there to know where go and most locals don’t want their spot blown up.
I keep hearing that. These secret amazing restaurants in NYC. Do they really exist and if so, why so secretive about them? Do people think the food will run out?
@reneek1672 id say something along those lines, having visited once, they dont need to be known. And beinf new york if they do blow up, they can lose their touch trying to accomadate all the new clientele. And staying high production consistently for so long
Yea like.. why are people so strange?@@reneek1672

Well at least Keith recognize Toronto food is bussin’
People from New York jumped in the comments and didn’t hear one word he said and proved his point😂😂😂
New Yorkers prefer to talk over listening 99% of the time 😂
He literally said it's accessibility not that the food is bad..😂😂😂
The logic is so stupid. Because NYC it’s less accessible? Like huh? More options means more opportunities to find food that you like. It’s almost unbelievable to think a person can come to a city with 50,000 restaurants and not find something they like.

I feel that NYC food is excellent. He did not go to Queens and Brooklyn enough. Miami, Chicago, and Toronto is crazy
You’ve never been to Toronto so that’s why you don’t understand .
@ have you been to NYC??
He has funny taste buds.
@ I see you haven’t been to NYC either
If you went to Toronto, you would understand why it made it to his top 5.
Yessss‼️ Baton Rouge is a hidden gem….my family on both sides are cooks 🥰
I live in Baton Rouge. When I tell people where I'm from, people always say " Man y'all got some good food there ". I would say "you mean New Orleans"? They will be like "No! You guys do"! I think it because we are between the flavor hub. New Orleans have the flavor, Lafayette area have the Cajun spices, and Mississippi have the soul. That why Baton Rouge have the perfect flavor for as taste. We mixed all the ingredients together. IMO
Im sorry NYC will always be top 5 they literally have everything you can think of foodwise and more especially on the mom and pop level. But I understand access and knowing were the spots are can be tough to navigate to.
The key word is HIS top 5

He's Right about Chicago !

As someone from Houston I agreed New Orleans will always be number one.
Always
Chi town we truth🎯
The fact that Chicago has influenced so many other states on how to make a variety of good foods, has always told me that my city is in the top 3. People come here to get food , freeze it and fly it back to their state cause they can’t get it where they live. Also, so many other states have “ Chicago styled” themed places. Not only is food here GOOD, but we have a very large variety of good places to eat of all different cultures. No hidden spots.
Shout out Chicago!!!!!
Chi-city!!!!
Chicago has the best variety
I have to disagree with how he’s judging New York food. It’s very narrow in how he’s judging it. New York has the most diverse food choices in the nation. Especially if you hop on the train outside of Manhattan.
The typical person won’t jump on a plane, then hop on a train, search for a place that’s suppose to have great food, and then walk blocks to that location. He’s right bc it’s terribly inaccessible in NYC
Diverse doesn't have anything to do with taste
Diversity doesn't have anything to do with taste
He's spoke on quality not diversity. It's hard to pinpoint the best particularly with African American cuisine because the city food scene is so expansive and so many differing opinions. Everybody thinks their hood spot is best and some might not even want to share that precious information because over exposure can create problems too
Just got back from NOLA! Everything was delicious....the buttered French Bread was delicious 😂!
NYC is renowned for having some of the best food in the world. There are multiple cuisines at various price points.
Also, you can easily jump on a plane and get great food in New York City. Not sure why he excluded NYC. Seems strange.
Anytime someone says that’s they are immediately invalid. Stupidest thing ever. You can go anywhere in NYC and get the food often BETTER than flying out of the country lol

Detroit DEFINITELY is underrated. And I’m from Houston
1) Charlotte (and most of NC)
-Best BBQ, Best Soul Food.
2) NYC
-Best Pizza in the world, most food options, get any kind of food 24-hrs.

-Best ethnic food, 2nd to NYC in most options.
4) Miami (and most of FL)
-Best Seafood scene, Best Caribbean Food, Best Hispanic Food.
5) Chicago
-Best Sandwiches, Best Sausages
Not gone lie, I agree with him. I’m from Chicago and I’ve lived in West NY. The whole time I lived in WNY, I couldn’t find any place that I just fell in love with in NY. And everyone knows that a Chicago trip is mostly for the food!! Great picks.
He's entitled to his opinion, but as a native New Yorker, I strongly disagree. We have some of the best food in the country and I have traveled a lot.
DC and New York have a variety, top-notch cuisine.
But he makes a point tho if you not from nyc its gonna be hard knowing the best spots because people in large wont give it up.I am a native new yorker born and raised in brooklyn.
@Samuel-eo1pj I respectfully disagree. It might have been like that at one point but with social media the way it is today, you can find the best food spots anywhere you go. I'm originally from Harlem and some of the best food I've had were recommended from IG or YT. Nothing is that secret anymore.
@@AggravatedMan365Repectfully just because social media exist doesn't mean there are not gems locals won't tell or give up unless they one live there .I didn't say you can't find any spots in harlem where you are from with google but even you and i know spots in nyc that people won't give up.
It's Louisiana by a mile. This man named New Orleans AND Baton Rouge. Truth be told, Lafayette, Louisiana has both of them beat.
I knew we were on the list ! Here in Chicago our food is AMAZING! I'm born and raised here our food has ALWAYS been 🔥🔥🔥! Our pizza is better than NY!

1. New Orleans - I agree!!!
2. Houston - I have not been there yet! But, I heard good things.
3. I’m from Chicago! So, I have a bias.
Seattle - very underrated. The food is clean.
Man you Houston is a must go. It’s worth the trip. I actually lived in Houston for a hot minute but I grew up in Baton Rouge and I’m glad he threw Baton Rouge in his underrated list.
Protect this man at all costs. Love seeing how everyone getting in their feelings over where they live LOL.

I agree with New Orleans, Houston, and Miami. Still need to visit Chicago and Toronto.
The fact that Memphis isn’t on his top 5 or underrated list, has me concerned. Also, the way he feels about NYC is how I feel about Miami. The best food and experience I had in Miami was in lil havana but the other areas I visited weren’t that friendly and it was hard to find good food spots. That was just my experience but I’ll go back and try more places in different areas
Cheers for the number 3 Chicago ❤
I was in Houston is August. Houston has great food. Lived in San Diego. The crane asada fries are what I would fly out for.
I agree I've been living in Atlanta 20 years. The food scene sucks.
Totally agree with Atlanta ! I live here and its bad
Too many restaurants are trying to be 5 Star, instead of just catering to the everyday Joe. It's fine, but it sucks if you just want to try the place but can never get a table.
@mysterion5136 I agree the food here is decent, its just the service is horrible and it has been like that for years!

The Atlanta hate is real.
Atlanta food is great!! But the customer service is abysmal. IMO Savannah and Kansas City food heavily slept on.
They are hating on Atlanta.
Food is mid in Atlanta
Stop hating because your city is trash.
New Orleans native in Houston. It’s 🔥
Chicagooooo
I love that Keith talks about accessibility with good food and service for everyone. Makes me think how all these food places are in Las Vegas but they are so expensive. As a tourist, I settled for a food tour (which was great) and trying to find mid-priced places to eat. But the restaurants and hotels prices are getting out of hand there.
Stop relying on the strip to criticize Las Vegas, Next time try ink Kitchen, Taste Buds, Boston Pizza, Vanilla rice and R Burgers. Not too expensive but extremely delicious.
@@flyboysneighborhood I am coming from out of the country, so I am trying to save money from having to take too much transportation and move around as a single person. NYC is just different I’m a Pennsylvania guy that’s been there a lot of times. NYC is literally probably the only place that the Keith Lee effect won’t work. It’s so many people so much variety the hustle and bustle and the nonchalance attitude towards celebrities because of how normal it is to be around them. They don’t care for all that.
