Nice stuff Lloyd. I think Nick Cave has had such consistently strong output that he manages to pick up new fans in every era of his career. I am one of the people that absolutely loves The Birthday Party, but I can see why it would be a challenging listen to some. I think Rowland S Howard is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Also Your Funeral might be my fav Bad Seeds album 😂I also really like the Grinderman albums too...OMG 😂Push The Sky even though it took me a long time has become one of my favourites as well. Lloyd we really are on different sides of the Cave fence. Ok we're back. I'm with you on Nocturama. I would have Boys Next Door, Dig Lazarus, Carnage, Murder Ballads & of course Nocturama at the back end as they are the least listened to for many different reasons. The remaining records I can't really separate. I probably could but I'd find it very difficult. I can't think of anyone else who's been around as long as Nick that has had such an amazing high quality of releases for almost his entire career. To prove that point I bet you can't name anyone else who's been around for any length of time that can still go out on tour & play pretty much the entirety of their latest album and only a handful of older songs. Most who've been around for a while basically play greatest hits shows & maybe play 2 or 3 new ones. I'm glad you ranked 'em because I couldn't. Well done. Cheers...Ben PS I'm still getting my head around Wild God, but side two is where it takes off for me

      Hi Ben, great reply mate,
i totally respect your opinion of Nick Cave's albums because you are an aussie LOL.
Nick Cave is one of those artists where there is no right or wrong with album rankings, Dylan is another one where there are so many facets to the music that everyone likes something, most of the people i know who like Cave prefer his heavier rock sounds over the mournful downbeat songs so i get where you are coming from.
to answer your question, Paul Weller plays the majority of his latest album when he tours a new release. on his latest tour he will have two albums to promote, "fat pop" and "66", as he couldnt tour "fat pop" due to covid restrictions. i think Neil Young also plays the majority of tracks from whatever recent album he is touring for.
but apart from those two, yes, i would be hard pressed to name anyone else, Elvis Costello maybe???
i almost gave up trying to rank the albums it was such a difficult task, well a head-fuck actually, LOL, and i thought doing Elvis Costello's ranking was hard!!!
think of doing Dylan but i might just rank them per decade or just a top 20 maybe?!?!
on Wild God, good album so far but like you i am still absorbing it fully, time will tell how good it really is.
anyway, thanks for watching and giving an in depth reply mate.
      are you an AFL follower?
      Regards Lloyd

@@LloydBoonworldofmusic2 Good call on. Weller & Neil. I haven’t seen Weller for maybe 20 years. It was fantastic. I remember quite a few Jam songs mixed in with what was his latest at the time. I’ve seen Neil 3 times. First was the Greendale tour which he played that front to back & a 40 minute encore consisting of only 4 songs one of which was Like A Hurricane that was nearly half of those 40 mins (it was great!), next was the year he played the Big Day Out, but I saw the Bowl show which actually was a pretty deep dig into his non Crazy Horse catalogue & weirdly ending with a cover of A Day In The Life, and the last time was the Psychedelic Pill tour which was with Crazy Horse. He played a fair chunk of the newie but also pulled out some deep Horse cuts. That was probably my favourite show even though I had some older people yelling out for Heart Of Gold & saying just play a song when Neil got into some awesome feedback drenched mayhem. Thankfully they left early. Probably only knew Harvest not realising a Crazy Horse shoe is a different kettle of fish.
Unfortunately I am a footy fan. I saw unfortunately because I follow Essendon 😢

@@benrankins4446 i think 2010 was the last time i saw Weller, saw Style Council half a dozen times in 1984, Weller solo three times. Neil Young, Big Day Out, Psychedelic Pill tour and an intimate acoustic gig. i love Crazy Horse and "greendale" is an awesome album IMO. i havent like much of his new material over the last 20 odd years, quantity is no substitute for quality IMO.
Geelong fan here (with a soft spot for Freo).

@@LloydBoonworldofmusic2 I agree about Greendale & that he’s quantity over quality. It’s frustrating because there’s always 1 or 2 great songs in there. If only he’d be patient & just wait to get together just the cream of the crop

Gee I thought the Nick Cave video would have had more responses. Myself I prefer the raunchier side of the Bad Seeds / Party Nick.
I'm a bit over his preacher type releases although I understand with his recent events they may have brought that side of him more.
I haven't listened to much of Wild God yet, what are your thoughts ?

Hi Phillip (not sure why i called you Matthew originally LOL), i was actually unsure how popular this video would because it is Nick Cave, seems to be a love/loathe artist for most people.
i have listened to Wild God three times already, and i have not really decided on what i think yet, it seems okay but nothing has really grabbed me yet.
thanks for watching and commenting mate - Lloyd
