@@oldmanoldtruck thanks for watching. I’m working on getting more natural color saturation. Really tough in lighting extremes going in and out of shadows.
It was. It had just enough skid plate and rock slider strikes to scare the kids. If you still want some of that old-school rutted out Hurricane Creek feeling just take the right exit. You can see it at the end of the video. There’s a chapter marker for the turn off in the description. Thanks for watching!
Looks like you exited out the right side. There’s still a few spots at the very end area that didn’t get graded on that right fork. I think that is a different road from Hurricane Creek.
@@redbeastadventures yeah it’s a different road. I’m not sure the number I’d have to look it up, but it can still get you to Max Patch Road just further south.
Bummer. Took the fun spot out. Just a green now. Guess I’ll have to give it 5 years to rut out again. At least the right exit looked the same. Thanks for the info btw- I hadn’t heard.
@@dadventuretv2538 the rains the last few days should help a bit. I don’t think much was super packed down so possibly a head start on the ruts? Thanks for watching!
Keep in mind this is a fire road and its made for accessing private and state property, it has to be upkept every so often, be thankful they just graded it and didn't shut it down like so many other great places
Thanks for watching. It has washed out a little in places since this video. I have 13” to my differentials and I hit skid plates a few times. With a good line and possibly a spotter in a few places maybe. I wouldn’t guarantee an unscathed run especially since I have not been back since I shot this video.
Poor driver skill and lack of lockers wear down trails in dfficult sections. Larger tire size actually decreases wear due to increased surface area and grip.
What trails would you recommend for a beginner with a 4x4 Silverado? Just looking for something easy to get off the beaten path to go look at leaves this fall.
@@Boomhauer0777 All of the popular WNC trails are great for fall color. Doable, but a little tight for a pickup. Goat Trail is heavily washed out in places. Shelton Laurel is basic although tight. NC 105 above Linville (rough gravel road), for sweeping views of Linville Gorge. Above Maggie Valley- go early to see elk and bears- Heintooga Road- Highway U.S. 19 by turning on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Soco Gap and going to Wolf Laurel Gap, then following Heintooga Road (look for signs directing to the marker). Tree driving and Mountain Views. Max Patch for a mountain top with 360° views. I just posted a short Max Patch video. Also the SCAR- South Carolina Adventure Route, Pinnacle Mtn road at the eastern edge of DuPont Forest. You really can’t lose wandering around in fall.
@@Boomhauer0777 I’m a stock Sahara on 33” tires for now. I put trail configuration in the descriptions including tire pressure and sway bars connected or disconnected.
Love the video, love the commentary but hate the music, I have to mute the music. I’ve been on Hurricane Creek several times, I live 30 minutes away, so will have to check it out. So I’m hoping they didn’t take the fun out. I like difficult spots even if I have to winch, it makes it more interesting.
@@SecretSquirrelOffroad so got through the video and probably won’t back, if it doesn’t have any challenges what’s the use. Use to be one of my favorites. Have you did Shad Road, off Hurricane Creek?
Drove my 92 Trooper thru there many years ago. I was in dry conditions and never had to use 4 wheel drive and never saw another soul on it
Good video, well done. Thanks for sharing!

Looks fun
I’ll ah e to wait a year or two to go back now. For a 2.5hr treck from Charlotte it’s not worth it now.
With the high traffic due to its popularity, it'll be rutted back out within a year or two.

What are the wheels on that white Wrangler you pull in behind at the very beginning?
It is a 392 with a lot of AEV add-ons. Not sure about the wheels. I’ll find out and reply here.
Those are actually stock 2022 392 wheels.
They woyks not need to grade it if jeep owners with huge 37 to 40 inch tall tires were not tearing up the trail.
