the global obd2 is mandatory to not display wrong readings . the factory side is allowed to display the limp home values of a temp. if the 2 differ then you trust the global obd2 side. not often is the global obd2 of more use then factory side and not often does clear codes fix anything.

Had this exact problem on a 207 with same engine. Totally caught me off guard and a wiring diagram started me to suspect the ECU and wasn't untill I reset the codes I discovered this. Wonder if its a Peugeot design or other manufacturers.

I have the similar problem, but only in summer time. My temperature goes MAX-normal-MAX-normal-MAX-MAX-MAX... Than I have to stop vehicle, disconnect battery, wait 10 minutes and drive. During MAX, fan does not work, AC also.
yea,i got 307,after i changed temp sensor,thermostate,cooling fan not turning on,i presume that only thing wich is to check,maybe relay or fan it self...
It happened to me exactly .. the plug was broken just a little bit of glue .. problem finished 😁😁 By the way the reading of the gauge is coming from the bsi not ecu directly. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge sir. Is it really raining because here we almost melt 😂😂

It is possible that the coolant temperature sensor to leak and cause water to travel up the wiring loom to the ECU damaging wires and components in its path and the fault dont disapear and come back again and again ?
I have the same problem, only occurs when temperature is under zero. If I understand well , after change coolant sensor I should remove all errors saved on computer ?

If that is what is wrong in your case, what do you want me to suggest? 🤷♂️ I would only say, to change the thermostat first and see what happens, unless the loom has been checked and is definitely faulty... 👍👍👍

Hi there im from South Africa i have a similar issue with my 308 16vti the problem is by mistake i positive probed my temp switch then was getting error code ect short to ground replaced switch cancel the code but still gauge stays in the red so i dont know what to do please help thanx in advance
The solenoid valve left side front of C Head , 1x10 hex, place rags below, wiggle it out, mesh screen will be blocked spray clean WD40, re assemble, oil pressure can not operate on VVT. Alloy flakes may be from external oil pump rhs above oil filter, leaks from here change o rings in pump.
Hi sir I've tried everything and now I'm stranded kindly advise, mine does this immediately when you start it it takes like two mins then it overheats, what can be the problem, the water pump is fine, radiator is fine but immediately when I start it the temp gage goes up then it overheats immediately

Thank you Luis for the info. About that P0014 exhaust camshaft dephased fault code. Have you any info perhaps for that fault. I have one DS3 with 1.6 vti engine and that code constantly cames back. I look for live data and i saw that position of exhaus camshat which ecm is wanted to se is not the same with measured position. It's go off for about 3 degrees with ignition on engine not running. With engine running those two parameters goes off even more and can not folow each other, then ecm set that code and car starts to run like shit. I am not being ask for the fix for that problem. I was doing something else on this car, so i didn't go further investigate that problem. But now car comes back next week to fix that too. Sorry for off topic.😊 I saw that code on your scanner so I was thinking maybe Luis have known fix for that french crap ? 😆
Start by make sure the timming is correct! From there, move to the actuators etc... No point to suffer in advance... Lol Worry as you face the problems... Thank you for watching and for your comment!
You can swap inlet and exhaust sensors as they are the same so can rule out sensor fault. As luis says check timing, the chains are made of chocolate and stretch also plastic chain guides break and I have changed dozens of them!
Hi, my peugeot 308 is showing same error but i have not changed temp gauge. Can you please suggest solution? It is diesel engine. When i switch on ignition it suddenly shows high temperature and than again shows to normal than again shows high. It shows like unstable temperature. Thanks

I agree you, but today i scan a peugoet 207 1.4 vti engine & the dtc p0118 comes up & can't delete it because it's parmanent & the fan runs 2 nd speed never stops till i stops the engine, i delete all codes but this p0118 still remaining parmanent, any ideas ?! I checked also the wires between the 2 temp sonsors and they are ok, my brain will blow 🤕

i do that but after 2 weeks the customer complain is appeared with fan run when he starts the car and the engine cold
80+k miles, problem of oil consumption and recently low oil, temp sensor causing fan on cold engine also inhibited advance VVT,

This was not the thermostat... was the temperature sensor that was replaced...

That's normal... some cars run at an higher temperature... due to the pressurized system etc...
