  • We are still in Texas, this time we are boondocking in an area called Devils River. Accessed by a 22 mile long dirt and gravel road, this area has no services. No cell signal, no electric or sewer hookups, and, in our case, not even a bathroom nearby.

You captured a beautiful, remote part of Texas in your fine video! Love that background music.

@@jeepdude67 : This drive reminds me of Pinto Canyon Road southwest of Marfa. Ever driven that? Take your jeep!

Thanks! Yeah I’m unstressed because I don’t have to deal with Seltzer and Joyal’s dictatorship!!

The generator could be heard 5 miles down the canyon, if you are downwind. Also you can hear a windmill squeak a couple miles from you in a gentle wind. That is why (for 50 years) we camp on the Devils. We would rather hear a squeaking windmill than a generator. Enjoyed the video, and leave the generator at home.

Was the road as difficult as the web page says it is? Or should i reconsider taking my tucson there 😅

It's not too bad. The first section off the highway is pretty well graded and just your typical back country dirt road. Any vehicle can make it. The last section gets a bit rocky, but it isn't anything that a little patience, proper lines and moderately high clearance vehicle couldn't handle. I would recommend booking a campsite near the visitor center, not the more remote sites down the canyon. There's a section that is really rocky near some of the equipment sheds that might prove difficult for a Tucson. Air down your tires a bit and you should be fine on the other sections.
