Nice video, here's a tip that might not be obvious but I my many years of experience I can tell you that it is 10 times more dangerous to be wearing gloves around power tools that bare hands. While it might seam like they are "safety" gloves the reality is if that saw or a drill grabs that glove, it's gonna pull your hand in and do 10 times more damage to you than a little nick or cut you would get with bare skin. I've seen many of these accidents on job sites, in manufacturing plants and in lumber yards. NEVER wear gloves when working with rotating tools!
in this case i totally agree to clint. Being a maschine builder and now certified engeneer for more than 40 years. The most lost fingers or serious hand injuries i have seen are produced by gloves caught by saws, grinders or rolling tools. Therefore it is strictly forbidden to use them in my buiseness. We don‘t have hands like a model but we have excellent hand cleaner....
Surely the solution for SWAG would be to locate and center drill the holes from the backside of the plate (but only partway). That way the customer could identify and finish drilling just the holes that they need for their particular saw?
Gave me brain storming idea to build my own… I built a stand and put my bandsaw on it with extended arms . This shows I can add this table to my unit. That’s Kwel !! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Daniel for this very nice and very useful video on Swag bandsaw stand. You convinced me to buy this stand given the quality of its design. So I have just ordered this stand (after viewing your video) for my Milwaukee BS125.
I totally agree with the extra holes and slots, on mine they tend to act as snag points for smaller pieces when I'm cutting narrow or small pieces. Other than that, I love my stand, I have used it a heck of a lot more than I thought I ever would and would buy another if I needed to.
I just bought the swag table and I agree with you about the piece on top with all the holes. I bought my foot controller from Amazon made by Wen which is only 12 dollars and my miter piece i had from my Jet bandsaw which fits perfect and it also fits my poter cable 12 inch sanding disk.
Thanks for the careful review, very helpful. It looks like table wobbles side-to-side, since the side legs are not secured to each other. I think I'll give some triangulation to the side legs so it's a solid platform. Also, note that SWAG now offers a bare metal undrilled "blank insert plate" for the stand. Drill and countersink just the holes you need for the saw.
This is a one of a kind must. Made my life so much easier with trying to figure out the assembly of saw to table. Thanks for taking time to make this video!!
I’ve had enough for a couple years and the holes always irritating when I use it but it turns out they’re really not that big of a deal. It’s more of an Aesthetics thing
Liked, subscribed. At least the holes could help collect chips that might otherwise lift a workpiece. I appreciate router tables and table saws with grooves in them more now, after using completely smooth tops. I used to hate seeing them, but they do have some purpose. Not the same I know. Anyway, cool video. Thanks for making it.
Some UA-camrs have reported squareness issues between the blade and table top. Did you happen to check yours? As far as miter gauges go, as long as the slot if the typical 3/4 x 3/8, any decent miter gauge would do. Looking into ordering a Swag table for the HF Bauer portaband saw...I manged to score one for $80 with sale coupon and other discounts. Great review. Yeah, those holes...totally agree.
Making separate plates for each make and model of saw would cost them a lot more. Not only is inventory control going to be more complicated, there will be that many more CNC programs and setups, which is also going to add to costs. The way they did it makes the most sense.
I don't mind the extra holes, I am a tinkerer and make things to keep cost down. So paying extra for a single saw mounting plate makes no scene If I replace my saw I would have to purchase another plate, that is just waste.
@@DanielWoodell I know, I’m not blaming you. I’m saying it makes the entire kit look like a DIY hack did it. I agree with what you said on how it makes it look terrible.
I just ordered this table on line but now worried I have not gotten an acknowledgement of the order or nothing on shipment. Maybe I should have checked more for the low price it was listed for. Place is in Florida. 3/20/22
3:20 I agree with you that SwagOffRoad cheaped out on the mounting plate and yeah they should make one specific plate for each specific model! 8:00 another reason makes assembly more complicated than it should be. But when you ever change model of bandsaw or even brand of bandsaw then your covered with the extra holes but most do stick with one perticular brand and just upgrade from old to new model within that brand so in that case Swag could eliminate half of holes in the plate version you ordered.
Did you buy band saw separate never seen this what your doing. Do you have any video of a person drillimg holes into a kreg plate to fit mastercraft ( Canadian Tire brand ), Router. I need yo drill holes in kreg plate to fit outer to then buld a router table i have a top and a fence my vision not very yood being diabetic for 15 years.
Please don’t wear gloves when using Porta Band, if you catch it one time, you will know why. It’s the same as using a rag on lathe work, rips off fingers. Just trying to help.
@@robertbutler8004 How difficult to supply dedicated plates? There are not that many manufacturers of those saws. Why ask us which saw we use - you get the 4,840,712 holes in the plate anyway...
Just received my Porta Band Stand today. Will install this weekend after I find room for it on my bench. It is going to force me to do something that I have been putting off - finding a place for everything that is cluttering up my bench. The stimulus check came yesterday just in time to pay for this. Thanks President Trump!
It a little finicky when trying to get exactly precise cuts. It can be done but if you’re looking for Xtreme precision I would not recommend a specific set up
I appreciate your position on the extra holes in the plate. But for me having the other holes means I can go buy a different model saw and swap it out without having to order a new plate. Both opinions are valid I think.
I have the older HF model (the Chicago Electric #62800) mounted to a SWAG offroad stand. The material on the right side of the blade hits the saw motor casing by about a 1/4" as you slide material through (the left side obviously does). Does the Dewalt have the motor and frame assembly off set enough where longer material would clear? My HF one is wearing out and time to replace. Thank you for your time.
its easy to make a wooden one that fits onto a bench and rebate a place to put cordless jigsaw underneath and make a piece to hold the saw tip . i like the idea of a wall bracket to hold its handle . less space used in shop
Wow the extra holes and slot. As you mentioned this is a cost reduction / many model deal. The extra washer? Honestly you cant make the product the product for the cost. Oh by the way a screw, bolt or nut is a size and it's not the tool you use it do it up. So the bolts are 1/4" so are the nuts. Not the tool size
3:17 that plate is why I wont buy one and made my own instead. That nonsense should not be tolerated at that thing's $170+.price tag. How hard is it to have plates specific to the popular saws? Not very. Swag is either silly, stingy, greedy, or all of it, and any one of them is reason enough to keep all that cash in my pocket. My 3/16 remnant sheet sheer-cut to size in 4 plates was $26, it then took me about 3 hours to cut/drill/fit the top plate, plasma some openings in the sides and weld it together.
Zachary Trinagli Nope the holes aren’t threaded, i’ve been using it now for a few months and the holes don’t seem to be as big of a problem as I thought they might be at the beginning.
Well, this answers my question from the other review video of the Dewalt portable band saw. So you'd need an attachment to give it the utility of an actual bandsaw. Doh.
I have the same saw, but when I press the foot switch, it only turns on the light, and I have to press down on the foot switch AND press the button for the saw to start. How do I fix this?
For the cost of a top-end band saw and this table I can buy a regular bandsaw that will cut both verticle and horizontal cheaper.but it is not portable.
That is a true statement. When I did this review I have not had this product very long I have found so many other ways to use this it’s hard to comprehend unless you have one. In My case it is small always plugged ready to use I walk up make a cut walk away doesn’t take up a lot of space and it’s extremely versatile.

Seems to me he is a grown man and not a 10 year old that needs to be told how to work in his own shop. If he wants to wear gloves and not get shit on his hands or over heat his fingers, it's his choice. Mind your own buisness...
I filled my extra holes with JB Weld, then sanded. Looks great
Marty Morgan and that is all this cry baby had to do instead of whining about it as well as the washer.
