While it's too early to judge Laf's career trajectory, I have to defend his rookie season somewhat. He came into the year with a very abbreviated training camp, no preseason, not having played meaningful hockey in long time, so he was going to need a while to adjust to the speed of the NHL. He also was stuck in the bottom 6 for most of the year, so he wasn't getting the minutes or quality linemates he needed to produce. I am optimistic. Given Dylan Guenthers sample size this season, this one can seriously blow up in their faces 5 years from now... Not to mention OEL needs to have a big bounce back season. If he doesn't and or Guenther develops into a star this was a horrible trade. However, if OEL does bounce back, he will be a great mentor to Hughes and provide more consistency on the blueline and on the PP. Conor Garland is a stud, and will compliment the top 6 tremendously. I think Van needs to work on the right side of their blueline big time though.
@@RobTalksHockey yeah right side needs work for sure. I am also in the optimistic camp. I think OEL can get most of his form back being in an environment he wants to be in and with good players around him helping to contribute. Whether he can keep it up for the entirety of his contract is questionable. But we have seen players keep it up well into there 30's. It's not super common but does happen. Chara for example.

So I may have bumped him up, even though I agree that the others in Hall of Fame are more deserving to be there. But yeah, that doesn't take away from this being a super solid list. Nice one. I also like that there wasn't a "too early to judge" category, because really even Matthews and MacKinnon are a bit early to judge whether they're HoF or not. Not too early to predict, of course, as it'd be an easy prediction to say they'd end up there. I forsure think they will. But that's based on the future potential of their careers. Optimistic. The Dylan Guenther pick could be devastating in 5 years, and if OEL doesn’t bounce back it is a horrible trade. But we have potential star offensive d to help mentor Hughes, and hopefully a sub $4 million Garland who will be a stud in the top 6 which was desperately needed. With the development of Hoglander and intro of Podz our top 9 is rounding out nicely.
Matthews and mackinnon should both be in hall of fame and I am not being biased to Matthews just because he is on my favourite team and is my favourite player but he has been great since he started in the nhl he has proven that he can play against Crosby Kane mcdavid and mackinnon is better then mcdavid he is great player and can actually do stuff in the playoffs
Hey RTH, love your content, been a fan for about a year. Good to actually see your face during the video too. Good luck in the new house. As a Maple Leaf fan, I really wanted to see Matthews in HOF category, but I get where you're coming from. Think he can get to get level, and also do u think MaKinnon could get there?
Nugent-Hopkins is underrated. Overall, I think he is a much better player than Taylor Hall, but he's learned to play like a defensive forward (Patrice Bergeron?). On the Oilers pp, he is the perfect supporting cast for McD and Draisaitl. Puljujarvi crowds the crease, Nurse or Barrie on the point, Drai hangs out around the goal line to snipe ridiculous extreme angle shots, and McDavid is the 1st string Quarterback. Nugent Hopkins is like the second string QB on this pp, the desire is for the puck to be on Connor's stick, but with that amazing supporting pp cast, its almost as deadly on Nugent Hopkins' stick as it is on McD's.
Chris Osgood is not in the Hall of Fame. But this one is trickier then it seems. On surface level yes if you look at his 60 goal season it's a no brainer. But ever since 2012, Stamkos has been a very different player. His analytics dropped significantly. There were several years where his impact was meh. Obviously due to injuries, but this isn't the injury HOF.
Theres not even a debate between matthews and mcdavid, not that Matthews isnt an unreal player, but regardless of what team he would play for mcdavid would make an impact where Matthews is a little more dependent on supporting cast
You absolutely can not put MacKinnon on the superstar level for not having playoff success and then proceed to put McDavid in to the hall of fame. MacKinnon will be in the hall of fame with atleast two cups (with avs) but McDavid won't win a cup atleast as an oiler. I do think they are both hall of fame tier players. But if McDavid doesn't get out of Edmonton he won't win a cup (or has similar playoff succes like until today) and that could keep him out of the hall.
Your not completely wrong just move Hughes and hischier up move up dahlin aswell. Aaron Ekblad is not an all star, dahlin has already got a higher point total in one season and Tavares is sub par he's an all star but not close to clinching HOF. If you do this again I advise that these moves are down according to their current season status.
I’m sorry bud but as an audio engineer it really bother me… you’re supposed to talk in front of the mic, not on top. You’ll hear a big increase in audio quality lol
I like to reference greatness based on hardware. Its very difficult to compare eras, but hardware is a constant. Ovi has the most Rocket trophies in NHL history and he may not be done yet. Although Bossy vs. Ovi is an argument that can go either way
Kovalchuk would be in the hall of fame if he didn’t go to the KHL, probably around 600-650 goals had he played in the NHL the whole time and averaged similar numbers. Its too bad.
"If Stamer was more consistent throughout his entire career" bro tf? The two "inconsistent seasons" you're referring two are 2014-2015 and 2015-2016... The two seasons following right after he broke his right tibia and had to learn to skate again? He's been consistently in the top 10 for most p/pg his entire career.
Analytically Stamkos saw huge regression after 2012 and hasn't bounced back since. That is 9 years... Yes his point totals may look good on surface level, and he is still an elite player, but his stats have also been 100% inflated with how good Tampa is from a talent perspective. With that being said I understand the argument, but that's just my rationale.
@@RobTalksHockey I'm legit not understanding where you're seeing huge regression? 2012/13 was a lockout shortened season where he was still on pace for 50 goals and 97 points. The same exact point total as the year he put up 60 goals. In 2013-2014 where he broke his tibia, he was on pace for 55 goals.
I agree for the most part. It's a pretty good list but I think Stamkos, Tavares, McKinnon amd Matthews will be in the Hall of Fame, especially if you look at some of the guys in there already. There's a lot generous entries.

How do you feel about the Canucks trade? and love the Vids man!
Rob let’s hear your thoughts on the OEL to Van trade
Does it help Rick Nash's case that he became a key part of the Blue Jacket's front office? His value continues.
Stamkos was really set back by injuries - I think he's an easy hall of fame candidate.
Make a video reviewing the 2020 draft, a year later
Hey rob is your UA-cam work full time now
Full time yes, but sadly not my only job. We’re getting there though! 🤙🏼
@@RobTalksHockey hope you do get there and I hope I Get there soon
Matthews and mackinnon should both be in hall of fame and I am not being biased to Matthews just because he is on my favourite team and is my favourite player but he has been great since he started in the nhl he has proven that he can play against Crosby Kane mcdavid and mackinnon is better then mcdavid he is great player and can actually do stuff in the playoffs
matthews cant do a
thin g in the playoffs
2nd overall Tier List?
Probably about time for a 'stash tier list. Lowest tier being Marner-tier instead of Yak attack?
Yakupov will be in the HHOF just for his 160 foot long goal celebration!
Why the inconsistency with volume keep the mic by your mouth when talking
Massive Lightning fan and I thought you were actually a little generous with Stamkos.
Idk if you have but pls pls do goalies tier list soon
Hey RTH, love your content, been a fan for about a year. Good to actually see your face during the video too. Good luck in the new house. As a Maple Leaf fan, I really wanted to see Matthews in HOF category, but I get where you're coming from. Think he can get to get level, and also do u think MaKinnon could get there?
As long as they don’t fall off a cliff, I 100% think they will both be in the HOF. A bit too early, but they are both game breaking talents.
@@RobTalksHockey sounds good thanks
2:31 Michel Plasse actually was 1st ovr in '68
Great vid, now do #2 pick players
Nathan Mackinnon is a Hall of Fame talent
Both Mackinnon and Yakupov need to be in the hall of fame
Switch Nico to All Star and Hughes to Superstar now lol
Wow I agree with this 100% (as of right now obviously) I think you did really good this time round 👍👍
The monitor backgrounds are amazing LMFAO
Bonafide Chris Osgood is a HOFer yet a guy who got 60 goals, and was the captain of 2 cup teams is in the superstar tier.
Good video. I agree with all of the picks
Theres not even a debate between matthews and mcdavid, not that Matthews isnt an unreal player, but regardless of what team he would play for mcdavid would make an impact where Matthews is a little more dependent on supporting cast
its funny how did not know that Matthews had 60 goals
Its to early to judge The last 4-5 years of picks cuse they havent reached their full potential yet
were you not watching the video he said that multiple times
Yooo can u do 2 overall
You’ll hear a big increase in audio quality lol
greatest pure goal scorer ever no argument mike bossy most goals a game average. the goat. then gretz then ov.
You're delusional not putting stamkos in the hall of fame
I personally, was high on dipi. His contract was ridiculous but I do believe he could’ve been a star if injuries didn’t derail his career.
Where do you guys think Getzlaf ranks?
"If Stamer was more consistent throughout his entire career" bro tf? The two "inconsistent seasons" you're referring two are 2014-2015 and 2015-2016... The two seasons following right after he broke his right tibia and had to learn to skate again? He's been consistently in the top 10 for most p/pg his entire career.
He’s way too inconsistent and unfortunately has missed a lot of time due to injury. I don’t even see Stamkos has a superstar, just an all star.
Tavares probably won’t be, unless Toronto wins some cups. His individual numbers and overall success won’t be there
Embracing the Jimbo meme, I love it
