Rob Talks Hockey I completely agree with the list, except I’m not sure Draisaitl is a HOF player yet, for sure superstar. (And this is coming from an oilers fan) But soon I’m certain he will be a HOF player, just not yet. Thank you for listening to my opinion.
I would have 3 or 4 of the above average guys in "meh". Make Gaborik a superstar (injuries aside he had some great per game metrics, and had 14 goals in the Kings 2014 cup run. Could have easily had a hall of fame career if not for the injuries and playing for Minnesota for so long). And as much as I love Bouwmeester, not sure he gets in the Hall. However with Kevin Lowe's inclusion this year, maybe Bouw gets in someday
Yakupov is a beauty on social media, but isn’t the greatest player. I think Vasilevskiy should’ve went first overall based on everybody in that draft’s performance over the years.
Everyone has a game where they go off. Gagner 8 points in a game but he's still meh. I get your point but just because he was good in one game doesn't mean he will be good
Agreed. Kokanemi will be fine..... It takes a little bit of time to assimilate to NA ice and the style of play.... However I don't see him being a good fit for Montreal....
And he had knee surgery before season and had spleen injury. This season definitely didn't reflect on what kind of a player he has the potential to be.
I agree..... I've always had high hopes for KK since he was drafted to the habs.... he has been meh this year but the ahl gave him some good development as we saw in game 1 against the pens... I can't wait until he is a bonafide 2nd line center for the habs... GO HABS GO!
Heiskanen is def a super star. He’s so good it doesn’t look like he’s trying out there. In a couple of years he’ll be putting up 60 points consistently
vrestxx io same for Chara, Dahlin, Keith, Makar, Werenski, Doughty, Weber, Josi, Chabot, Provorov, Letang, Karlsson, Pietrangelo, Hedman, Q. Hughes, and Carlson (all based off of an NHL 20 simulation)
vrestxx io I think in the future, Dahlin, Keith, Makar, Doughty, Karlsson, Hedman and Quinn Hughes are going to be first ballots, while Chara will get in. Werenski, Weber, Josi, Chabot, Provorov, Letang, Pietrangelo, and Carlson would be superstars
@@leafsfanforever2896 karlsson is not a first ballot sorry to say. Unfortunately hasn't won a cip which makes big difference. Hughes... Probably won't either
KK was dangerous on the ice last night against the Penguins, he was playing a top game while Drouin was doing nothing good at all, I believe that with time KK will become a very solid player for the Habs
You nailed it -- except for Bowmeester. I know this video is 3rd overall picks but Bo is in no way shape or form gong to get HOF consideration..... Look, Seabrook is way ahead of him when it comes to HOF consideration.... I suppose I could make a case for Dylan Strome, but it's just way too early - but I think he's found a home in Chicago where he can just play his game... Of course Kirby Dach was drafted 3rd overall and that kid has some serious skills - he is like a Toews in a McDavid body ....
Kotkaniemi also had a knee surgery during last summer, which could clearly be seen in his skating. He couldn't skate basically at all during the summer break. To make matters worse, he suffered a spleen injury during the season. Kotkaniemi is looking like himself now again during camp and first game, as he is healthy again.
Well I agree based on what he has proved thus far. But this is also about future projections, and Draisatl has definitely proved it. How many players have come close to 130 points in the last 30 years?
Recommend changing Hall of Fame category to something like Franchise corner piece as the top level. Had a guy like Stamkos in the Superstar level I think but having Jay Bo in HOF makes no sense. Also a guy like Kevin Lowe got in so not the best category
Great videos man! I miss the cut off shirt in this one.. bring it back hahaha This is my favourite hockey channel hands down, keep up the good content bud.
I was so excited when Ottawa acquired the ghost of gaborik in the Phaneuf deal with LA, just based on nostalgia for the player he had been. Even then he was an ok immobile turret you posted up at the top of the circle and fed for on-timers as a power play specialist.
Kotkaniemi is skating so much better and is making better decisions because of it since camp started back up. The guy could one day be put in the all-star category if his development continues. Also his AHL stint was great for development.
You should do a 4th and 5th pick position with these as well. It's an interesting topic for sure, and your layout/setup is awesome for this type of discussion/video.
I love these videos but I wish you went further back. With older drafts you get more full careers instead of projecting on guys who were just drafted the last three or four years.
Bouwmeester is intriguing... He played for the national junior team at 16, won a World Cup in 2004 when he was still a kid, and always stuck around for as long as I can remember, notably in international competitions... I can't believe he is actually still around when I consider that he played with Lemieux, Sakic, Blake, Foote, and all the oldies in 2004... He is perhaps one of the few players whose international experience, rather than his actual NHL career, define his worth as a player... I mean, in my mind, I picture Crosby with a Penguin's jersey, Bergeron with a Bruin's jersey, Iginla with a Flames' jersey... and Bouwmeester with a Team Canada jersey
Ummm are u kidding me about Kotkanemi?! As a HABS fan I see so much potential in that kid he’s gonna be a 30/40 goal scorer.. even in the playoffs this year he’s done great. A little bit of development and he’ll do amazing
Pretty good .... But the only thing I have a problem with is the fact you use the word however to often and always with the same tone! With that being said, pretty good content keep it up bud
Your opinion is Valid! Surprised at the rankings of Bouwmeester & Bogosian but you make a good case. Kotkaniemi would've had a solid showing in 2020 if he didn't mistranslate coach's advice to bulk up as meaning to pump iron in the gym. Resulting in a massively imbalanced weight gain that threw is already mediocre skating out of whack... Now that he had the whole shutdown confinement to shrink his upperbody and work on them glutes, I am much more confident he'll be able to justify his selection.
Solid video. Only disagreement I have is that Marian Gaborik should be in Super Star. He is clearly a step above the others you placed in All Star and he was able to stay consistent over a long period of time.
Kotkaniemi raised his stock a lot in the series with the Pens, they sent him down to the AHL when their chances of making the playoffs was nonexistent to bring up his confidence.
Great video yes I know I’m late, one thing I’d like to point out and I only know this cause I suffered the same injury playing hockey but Nathan Hortons career wasn’t ended due to concussions. (That was also probably a factor) but It was ended due to back disk herniations. His L4/L5 to be exact. He might have also had S1 nerve problems as did I. My surgeon referred to his case when I was dealing with mine and if you do google it I can be found.
Given how high of a pick 3rd OA is I’d slide every single player in the above average group into the tier down which is meh...because that’s what you think of to date on every player in that group...I don’t think any of those guys save for maybe Drouin would be redrafted into the top 10 in their respective drafts let alone anywhere near 3rd OA...but cool video! I think it’s a bit too early to classify Drai as HOF. He’s def a superstar, but he needs a few more consistent good seasons to get that HOF nod. Not saying he doesn’t deserve it, I just think it’s too early to call a 24 year old HOF, even McDavid (although that is my personal opinion).
"Bogosian is not a liability out there" Um, yes, he is. 100% guaranteed the Sabres are in the 24 team playoffs this year if bogo doesn't touch the ice. There is a multitude of examples of where his play directly led to a goal against and even a loss.

No shame in spelling mistakes, KG. I think you were trying to say phenomenal. I agree with you that injuries did affect Drouin’s offensive output this year in Montreal. I hope to see him bounce back big in the playoffs this year. Kind Regards, Stephen
Good list as usual, Bouwmeester is likely All-Star at minimum and maybe super star, but outside of being Triple Gold and ending his career with a cup winning team, from an NHL standpoint he's no Hall of Famer. Horton's above average, but without injuries could've been All Star. Bogosian could be up to "meh", he's been a 5/6 defenseman for a few years now, although the number 3 pick should be better than that. Huberdeau is probably more all-star at this point, but if he keeps up his current strong paly into his 30's (maybe's he's a late bloomer), I could see Superstar status. Heiskanen might be too low after Dallas' cup run, but he's All-Star or Superstar for sure.
I see Dylan Strome having a huge playoff run with Chicago this year. I like your list, Rob! It’s kinda funny to me how awful Erik Gudbranson has been at the NHL level, after seeing him play very well for the Kingston Frontenacs in junior. Even though he has regressed greatly, I remain a fan of his. Any team but the Bruins for the Cup, forever!! Lol 😂
I also think strome shouldn’t be in above average I think he should be in all star. If you look at the people in above average he’s clearly better than them all.
Wonder if the last three would have been in different brackets after the playoffs. Kotkaniemi improved a lot, Dupois looked a like superstar and Heiskanen looks like Conn Smythe Candidate
Agree with everything except Drai. He’s an offensive beast, that’s for sure. But he’s also in the bottom 20th percentile for defensive forwards. He’s such a liability in his own end. I know plus minus isn’t a good stat, but if you put up 110 points and still end up minus, then that’s a telling sign. And giving him more deployment isn’t helping the oilers on the defensive end. The oilers have maybe one defenseman in Ethan bear who’s actually good defensively. The more time drai is on the ice, the more that team suffers in the dzone. He should be one tier down imo, especially because his career is just taking off and he’s still pretty young. Anything could happen.
Whys so much hate for Horton? 20 goals 50 pts every year. Physical game, hes one of those premier actual power forwards that comes into the game every 5 years or so. There are never a lot of guys like him
What would your list look like?!

Huberdeau has 41 PTS so far this year;)
i totally agree with Gaborik being just an All-Star, i do think it would have been higher if Lemaire didnt emphasize a defense-first game.
Lol 😂
Stroke scored yesterday too
Yes he did. 😄🤟🏾
Jack Jonsons parents weren’t managing his money they were spending it all 😂😂😂
7:20 huberdeau will go to the hall of fame if he keeps it up 115 points this season crazy
You are putting Heiskanen in All Star tier???? He's a for sure Superstar which he has three assists game yesterday
He’s not and I’m a Stars Fan. He has superstar potential, but he isn’t a Norris Contender just yet
Whys so much hate for Horton? 20 goals 50 pts every year. Physical game, hes one of those premier actual power forwards that comes into the game every 5 years or so. There are never a lot of guys like him
