- There's a hidden Cigarette barrel backlight, perhaps an option available for premium models, very easy to access and unlock this feature. Handy for locating the barrel at night and a nice little party trick to show off to your falcon friends.
Cheers, let me know if this function excites you 🤣

For Bonus stuff and behind the scenes
Is this the same for fg’s
Not sure bro!
There is also a T10 wedge bulb holder for the foot wells. A bit of rooting around to find them but they are there.
Oh really? In my XT model I'm sceptical.. Do you know if even the XT have the footwell t10 holders tucked up under dash?
@@FordMercGuy there is a hole for the socket on all falcons. Not all of them have the socket tho
@@pietervanderhorst2529 yeah I've seen this at wrecker yards. Seemingly depending on the model, if the premium sound/higher optioned cars had the bulb holder socket tucked under dash as part of loom
@@FordMercGuy yeah my bf xr6 hasn't got them there. However my Nan's ba Fairmont has them. Easy enough to install. I've got the parts sitting there. Just run the wire up to the drivers side pillar and tap into the dome light
Yeah I ended up doing the same and made a video on it also.
Same with fog lights all wire looms are same just some got plugged in and some got taped up
That's it mate! Except maybe XT models got most basic wire looms without the rear electric window wiring, no footwell lighting etc.
I watched your video for my Territory, & yeah it was taped up.
Crazy hey but now I have light.
Thank you
Ahh so on territory models too. Crazy indeed but a nice little backlight. Glad I could be of help
Cept it's not a ciggy lighter socket, not anymore, known as 12v charger socket
Good point👌
I guess old school terminology dies hard!
@@FordMercGuy I wish they did actually have the ability to light smokes, I miss that feeling waiting for it to pop out😆
Yeahh i think we all enjoyed that pop moment in the 90s hahah
@@foxymoana That feeling of burning the fck out of your fingers then dropping the bastard in the footwell. good times lol
Hahahah absolutely!
If you wanted to set up additional LED lighting throughout the car, would this be a good place to start running your circuit or is there a better way to do it?
Also appreciate all the effort you put into the videos, I've learnt so much from them all and production quality and detail is superb.
Thanks for the awesome feedback mate and so glad to hear I've been able to help out through my Vids. To answer your question mate, I'd say that we shouldn't overload this point for LED lighting. Perhaps using a Multi meter and check how much your leds are drawing even though they don't draw alot can be a smart idea and not running more than a factory T5 bulb would draw. Melting wiring is not fun.
Thanks that help a lot
No worries glad to hear it! Thanks for leaving a comment
I notice you have green lights around the volume control etc. Mine does not work. Any idea how to,get to,the globe?
Hi mate I imagine they are soldered LEDs. I haven't seen bulbs behind that zone. Could be replaced but not easily
What LED T5's do you use mate? I've had nothing but bad luck with mine of eBay with flickering after a short amount of time.
I found a batch I bought for my old Merc a few years ago from a website called crazy LED from the UK, had really good quality and has been lasting really well till now. They even had a 3 faced LED version of the T5. However, yeah ebay stock can be hit and miss indeed quality wise
Mate scratch that, www.ebay.com.au/itm/10pcs-of-T5-White-3-SMD-SUPER-BRIGHT-3528-LED-Side-Car-Light-Wedge-Bulb-DC-12V-/262915672397?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
by the way, would you know where the coolant sensor is?
I'm unsure mate sorry. What's the issue at hand you're trying to navigate through? Message me on Instagram FordMercGuy if it's any easier. Otherwise I'll await your reply here.
Ghias factory have the light visible. Sorry to ruin your thunder God.
Hahahah nahh all good boss! Good to hear that some models actually did have them installed and utlisied 👌
My question is why the hell would Ford hide such a nice feature? I love my Ford's but they gave us peanuts compared to what Holden got with their cars 🥲
Early 2000s so we are talking about cost cutting and trying to Keep prices low to compete with other makes and models I guess. Quite unfortunate really
Hiw is it hidden ????
Hey mate a little taped and out the way, not noticeable for anyone that hasn't removed the trim/ciggy wiring etc
