    Been quoted 650-700 by a front end specialist shop to do all the rear end bushes in and out that day. Not bad for the price?

      I had to have this done on my G6E turbo at 90,000km as the rear bush was flogged out & the other two on the way out also - stupid design as the bolt literally writes around in the bush and hogs it out - pretty much doesn't matter what bush material you use, the engineering of it will guarantee it'll flog out before it should. I didn't have a hoist, so after reading through the workshop manual I decided to pay someone else to do it - it was $1800 NZD all up from memory, but that was years ago, probably be a lot more than that now given how much more tradies are paid these days. It was just about due for another round of replacement when some stupid cow ploughed into the back of the car whilst she was looking at her phone and wrote it off. Now I have a Lexus GS460, and the diff cradle engineering is so vastly superior - really don't know why Ford didn't sort this out after so many years.

      Any ideas what they could of done wrong? Mind you they also did sway bar links and control arm bushes so the whole back end has been tossed a bit but the guys reckon they aren’t at fault when they raised the issue first and it felt smoother before I forked out 2k

    • @BrowneysGarage
      @BrowneysGarage 4 роки тому +1

      @Matthew Felice-Nicolay Sorry to hear mate. I'm far from an expert but I'd suggest starting with the basics if you can, go through and nut and bolt check everything in the rear. I remember the rear of this car being all over the place when I first got it and found that one lower control arm bolt where they attach to the cradle was slightly loose and was giving some play - this car had a bit of a sketchy history!
      Beyond that get a good full wheel alignment check? There is very little adjustment in the rear I believe but this may show up anything out of the norm?

    • @BrowneysGarage
      @BrowneysGarage 3 роки тому

      @Meagan Reilly Hi Meagan, happy to try help but just a little unclear. Is this for new diff bushes (as replaced in this video you've commented on) or upgrading/replacing the whole diff?
      Diff bushes would certainly be more common to do than the diff itself, as the diff generally has a very long life unless there's a LOT of abuse & extra power or accident damage - normally at least. The labour for these 2 jobs will be much the same as the whole diff cradle (the assembly worked on in this video) has to come out for either job, but prices for parts will vary.
      If diff bushes need doing then I'd say that's a bit high, under $1k seems more reasonable. Perhaps you could post on a BA/B Series owners Facebook group with where your located for local recommendations of who will tackle it cheaper?
      If it's the diff itself that needs replacing it will vary a lot depending on what you can get one for second hand or rebuild cost, then probably best to do diff bushes while it's out any way and you could quickly be looking at a decent price for what it is.
