      +Jaco (Hunteds RCs) Thanks Jaco! :) With it being nose-heavy, it was quite easy to keep it low (and visible for UA-cam ;)) .. I DO hope the next flight will be a bit more relaxing.. Holding on to the elevator all the time wasn't great BUT it did fly very smoothly :)
      Cheers!

      +DutchRC ADVENTURES that's good news it looked like it really dug into the water when you tried to take off was that a trim problem or torque from the motor?

    Great maiden flight, congrats :-) I've downloaded the scratchbuild plan of the Polaris designed by Steve Shumate which is very similar to the HK Skipper XL. It will be build from 6mm depron sheets during the next winter months. Because I sold my old foamy all parts I need for this is already in stock as motor, prop, servos, ESC, LiPo ...

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  8 років тому +1

      +Detlef Heine Thank you Detlef :) And that is a great winter-project I think! The Polaris (when well build) flies exactly like this skipper.. I've seen quite a few video's of them :D
      Good luck / have fun with the build offcourse! And let us know how she flies :)

    Love the video! I see you like to take up the Whole Sky like I do! Your comments are right in line with my first experience, although, mine ended quite differently when the battery gave up. I started with a 2200 3S and it was woefully underpowered so when I get it repaired I will go to a 4S. Nice Flying!! I found on my small Skipper I can almost 3D land if you 'bounce' or almost Stall the model a couple of times in the air while landing and then give it one more about a meter from the ground.

      oeps! that IS a shame man! I guess that's an added benefit of allso shooting a video.. I can't keep the flight drag on to long ;)
      Hope you get her repaired well then mate! And yeah.. I just skipped the 3S thing alltogether.. Whenever HK offers something that can Allso fly on 4S.. I know what time it is ;)

    • @InTheSh8
      @InTheSh8 8 років тому

      +DutchRC Adventures This is exactly what might stop me from thinking to buy it. I really like this plane but if the electronics aren't waterproof then it's a little bit expensive. U had it upside down already? Maybe it's possible to operate it underwater and bring it back, like the flying sled from rctestflight which can do that if flipped. Maybe with some tricks it can be made waterproof. Only question remains if it "flies" through the water. Would be phenomenal.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  8 років тому

      +Music_Pets_RC You do know it's a PLANE.. right? :P I don't really plan on submerging or flipping it :) The elevator-servo would not survive that.. The other servo's & motor would be fine though..

    • @InTheSh8
      @InTheSh8 8 років тому

      +DutchRC Adventures It might have happened accidentally, of course I don't want u to do it on purpose, lol. I still have some time to decide about my next plane, just started with the dynam hawksky v2 and can keep it in the air well enough to go a step further and try to land it properly with landing gear attached. Drone from MJX will also arrive these days at my doorstep. Plenty of new input for my brain because of youtubers like you inspiring people. Good job.

      I'll tell you this: landing a plane well is the most difficult part of flying, and landing on water is even more difficult.. It is ALLSO more exciting though :D

      It's a fun and good looking plane I think :D In the Netherlands "we" are kinda always near water, but that's not true for most countries.. That might be a reason for the plane not selling well enough..
      ohw and: landing on water is harder :P

    Hey Dutch... looks going... tested out the skipper name of the plane with that landing! :-p all good though and the crappy HK decals stayed on too. Seems like a fun plane. I'm assuming cuz it was nose heavy that's why it was a lengthy take off?
    great video keep up the good work.
    cheers!

      +Mike's RC Corner True! A lengthy take-off and hard landing because of that, though I really did feel like gunning it in :P haha :D With the added atraction of the Skippy move :D
      It flew very nicely though! I like it so far.. Ah yeah.. them decals.. they Had come loose quite a bit.. and I will remove them, once I think of a nice custom replacement :)

      Sorry unless it was my wife buying it for me for christmas (which i highly doubt cuz she thinks I have too many RCs - LOL) it wasn't me. I did notice they have a version on BG and it was prices well over $200. But i'm sure HK has a big shipping charge for this that'll bump up the price cuz the box has to be fairly large.

    Nice review fellow Dutch guy! Do you like it better than the smaller version? I'm trying to decide what one to buy. Need something that can do well off of snow, so I can fly a bit during the dreary winter months of west Michigan . It's a lot like the Netherlands here in Holland, MI.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  6 років тому +1

      Howdy Tom :)
      hmm I think they both are Fun airplanes, but this XL version sure has more 'air presence' :) It does allso depend a bit on Your skill level: the smaller Skipper might be less intimidating and therefor more relaxing to fly? If your an experienced pilot though, I think the XL is more fun :)
      Ghehe the weather is Dreadfull over here :D I do hope it's a bit better over there :)
      Cheers & thanks Tom :)

    • @tomheetderks9997

      Thanks! I think I am swayed toward the XL, I have some experience in the hobby. Yeah..my ancestors chose to settle in a very similar setting..nice beaches, sand dunes,etc..but we get the same old overcast for weeks in the winter. Oh well, we keep flying right? Take care

    • @DutchRC

    Well it definitely looks like a super fun aircraft! And I know that you aren't sponsored by HobbyKing but I think you should be you have nearly 2000 subscribers and most of the stuff that I've seen on your channel seems to be from them maybe you should talk to them it can't hurt 👍😎👍

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  8 років тому +1

      +Dave “Quad Therapy” Vale Thanks mate ;) I'm afraid my video's are a bit to 'honnest'.. I usually point out all shortcommings on their (and other companies's) products.. I do get several offers from Other companies somehow :P haha ;)

    • @davevale5662
      @davevale5662 8 років тому

      DutchRC ADVENTURES I don't really think it matters if you point out the good and bad I think it just comes down to $ and if only 10% of your subscribers purchase there products WELL THAT = $ for them and I'm sure they have already profited off of some of your videos. So have you ever tried to contact them regarding this? It can't hurt the only thing they can say is no and so what cuz your doing the videos anyway GOOD LUCK

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  8 років тому

      +Dave “Quad Therapy” Vale Well yeah that is true.. It comes down to the $$ in the end.. I I *KNOW* quite a lot of people bought things after seeing my video's..
      And yep.. I've offered to review a boat for HK last summer.. Noooooo reply..

    • @davevale5662
      @davevale5662 8 років тому

      +DutchRC ADVENTURES well that's there loss I would suggest that you stop mentioning them but that would probably upset your subscribers what a shame the Chinese companies are practically begging people who do review videos take a look at gearbests Web site and take a look at all the programs they offer especially to people like you. you would qualify for there professional program....just a thought I like to see the folks who have helped me get some reward well good luck my brother👍💶👍

      +Dave “Quad Therapy” Vale Thanks man ;)
      The thing with HK is: they have a warehouse in the Netherlands, so I have overnight delivery (very usefull in case of new releases).. and well, I shopped there quite a lot before I started this channel as well ;)
      Their prices have gone up Considerably though!
      And yes.. I get offers from Chinese companies (like GB) daily really.. But only toy-grade things that don't fit my channel..

    Did the reverse thrust work?

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  8 років тому +1

      +André Rousseau Yeah.. You've got quite a bit less thrust in reverse, and on this lake I didn't need it.. Ohw.. And on water, the plane will digg itself into the water a bit..

      +DutchRC ADVENTURES Yeah HK said 4S helps and I saw them drag the wing down in the water. Bad for the servos for sure. Might be great on snow ;)

      There you go :) Yeah.. I'm not even gonna bother with 3S in this one ;) It's not (at all) like it's to fast on 4S :)

      +DutchRC ADVENTURES I have a sneaky feeling most of my newer planes will be 4S planes for now on was well.

      +André Rousseau Yes.. I'm actually selecting on that nowdays.. More Voltage = Less Amps.. Electronics stay cooler.. Most of my multi-rotors run on 4S as well..
      Hmm how manny 3S lipo's do I have, you think by the way? :P

    Hey there skipper. I'm flying quadcopters for quite some time now althou I'd really like to fly airplanes to. What rc airplane you recommend for someone who has never flown airplane before but knows how to handle a quadcopter? Hope you can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance

      +KoekeBeest1985 It sure did SKIP huh ;) haha :D
      Okee.. first plane? I would Definately suggest getting the HK Sky Easy Glider then.. By far the easyest beginner plane I've tested so far :

      If you'd want something bigger.. The Bix3 would be a good choice:

      DutchRC Adventures How often do you fly the HK Sky Glider? Just making hard choices here....I mean the weather in Holland isn't that great atm. Really really doubting for plane or maybe another new quadcopter....for inside...got any suggestions for a cool new quad? I noticed the brushless before but there are not so many on the market yet....also not for inside though.............I just need to pleasant suprised by some RC I guess.

      +KoekeBeest1985 I don't fly the Sky Easy myself a lot. I let a friend of mine fly it (quite offten) because he doesn't have a plane himself yet..
      You want the quad to be mostly for indoors?? If you want a really good one, I'd get the Blade nano QX.. I love my FPV version of it :)
