    Thanks Dave, it's faired very well, the air filter and intake are a great design. Lots of useful information for anyone interested in or anyone who owns a Himalayan 450. They seem like a quality bike.
    The mud always hides out of sight 😂 nice 👍

      Why would you go 10 000 km without changing the oil

    • @ScottSillis
      @ScottSillis 18 днів тому

      @@billclarke4134exactly, I change my oil every 5000km at the most and filters every second oil change.
      It's all marketing, it's possible yes, but I would never recommend leaving it until 10k. I would say Dave was wanting to see how the oil looked after it's recommended service interval and check the filters and screens for any debris.
      This is a full long term test to it's limits, as opposed to how you'd treat your own bike.
      Durability testing if you like.

    I've cut a hole in the top cover of the air filter replacement lid out to the inside of the locator tube. Changed the air filter for a DNA oil cotton. It roars beautifully. Put on a dcat pipe and fuelX pro. I think it has about 10% more with these changes. It drops the usable rev range down to 2000 rpm and opens up the topend as it breaths to red line.
    I like everything else about it. Can't fault the breaks or the suspension and is even more fun to ride. Get one you won't be disappointed(:-)

    It seems to me like this is what a KLR650 SHOULD be able to compete with. If they made this Himi with a 600-ish displacement, and around 55-60 hp, it would be a killer package. Good to see it's holding up. ..Seriously considering making a purchase next spring/summer, if this bike ends up being a viable option.

    Hmm.. for future mods to that bike, I would seriously consider the new Acerbis tank.. seems that it saves around 3-3.5 Kg dry weight, while also giving more max capacity..🤔 They are also introducing some protection that might be of interest.. Also, a Li based battery should save some weight up high..🥴 But I guess regarding weight saving, there's a number of things that could be done.. Many parts made of stamped mild steel that keeps the cost down, but does increase weight.. On the other hand, things seem very modular & accessible, making modification easy.. I'm thinking it should be fairly easy to reduce the dry weight to about 160 Kg, without compromising functionality, nor breaking the bank..🧐 I'm not sure one could say the same about the MT450..🤔

That darker viscous oil on the cam lobes may seem harmless but the beating this thing is taking you want those lobes to be unmarred for the next 10k. Oil quality is talked about to no end on the internet but this is a rare opportunity to point to exactly where the oil broke up.

    Great review Dave.
    it will be great when UniFilter offer a foam unit for that super dusty environment.
    I think for how that paper unit came out after the ride you took the bike through it still seemed to perform quite well.
    I am surprised however that RE never looked at that first up as similar fine dust environs in India and Pakistan and oiled foam unit surely cannot be that much more expensive to manufacture.
    I would think it actually less expensive than the wire frame and cage plus paper element construction.
    Glued foam over a plastic cage seems far less expensive to make.
    Anyhow Unifilter or Twinair will have a unit pretty quickly given how popular these bikes are going to be.
    Also how about the air filter on the CF Moto- is that equally complex to remove? ie. tank off to do the job.

    • @MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV
      @MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV  19 днів тому +1

    Royal Enfield gives away their motorcycles to the left and right in the UK, the USA and Australia. It's not a surprise that they need to try and sell them at high prices somewhere - like in mainland Europe. We are not biting. The 2021 and 2022 models in their showrooms are not tempting, when we have brand new Japanese motorcycles at the dealer opposite the street at lower prices. @@Shurup33 Himi has a Showa suspension. It has a service interval of 10k kms compared to the 5k kms of Mt. Not so economical I think. If u haven't watched the himi servicing video uploaded by madTV then please do.

    I've not looked deeply enough into this bike but I like how BUTT UGLY it is.... fits me rather well but I still don't know how well these
    are taken care of by dealers in the US? I only know of one dealer in the DFW Metro area & if you don't have problems then that's not
    an issue but if you do I'm hoping a dealer is available close by? peace

      You've done enough just running the bike thru it's paces..... I've kinda looked around but not too many are riding around
      that I've seen in the US? But it's pricing is a competitive factor at about $6400 USD's or close. Thanks for the video

      We will be doing that next year, I'm pretty sure. I'd like to go Cairns, Cape, Longreach and then get the bike transported back with Bikes Only.

    Everything looks well designed to be easy to access and service, and for rough riding. Even removing the tank connections is easy. Can't you tell us about the re-shimming, Dave?🕊

    The 450 Himalayan has shown it's a great bike. You guys flogging it, Fuzzy Biker has over 14,000 US miles on his since the release this Summer.
    I'll still take the placement of the air filter on the T7 for maintenance, or if I drop it in the drink.. But, it isn't enough of a negative that I wouldn't buy the Himalayan., since I rarely ride with anyone I'm never eating dust.
    Thanks to you and the dealership for filming the service Dave.

      I agree, the T7 air filter location is better. But the 450 is still great value!

      @ Definitely no argument there! I might add one and save the T7 for longer trips.
