Really liking your project. Quick question: One of the reasons I am wanting ricefish is that I wouldn't need a heater, unless it's in a colder cellar or garage, but you are using heaters. What temperatures are you maintaining and why? Thanks.
Hey there! Thanks for the comment. I'm excited to hear you're interested in getting ricefish and I really hope you do! It's true they don't require heaters, especially since keeping them indoors provides sufficient warmth. I use heaters only to simulate the warmer summer months, which is the same reason I use high-powered grow lights on a timer to mimic summer daylight hours. This setup boosts my egg production even during the off-season. Heaters are particularly beneficial for freshly hatched fry, as they normally hatch during warmer months, and I've noticed they grow much quicker out of the fry stage in warmer temperatures. I set my heaters to the lowest setting, usually around 65-68 degrees. However, I recommend avoiding the use of a heater during the colder season unless you're aiming for egg production. The fish do need a 'break' from constant breeding as it can significantly shorten their lifespan! 🐟
any tips for breeding i have clean 10gals with rice-fish i feed them daily had a ton of eggs when i first got them but have had a halt in seeing eggs on the females could it just be a dull period? fairly new to the hobby. love the videos cant wait to watch more!

When I transfer my fish to different tanks, they often take a pause before resuming. I've personally found that temperature and light are crucial triggers for breeding. Try using two nets one for catching and the other one to scare them towards the other net has worked for me in the past

The bowls are 15 , normal tanks are 10s
