You got settings, which are default are 30% tolerance for the jobs. The amount of tiles etc. is always given for the case, that you only have 10% tolerance, cause you need to do more in this jobs than by yourself, until the game fillls up the rest automatically. You can change these settings in the main menu options.

If you want to put material into the storage, you need to place the items on the delivering spots infromt of the shop. Than you can move them from there to the storage and back at the computer.
