    Trochlear nerve-
    At the level of inferior oblique.
    Other structure same as CN 3 but this nerve Crosses.
    Longest course in cranial cavity
    Same course as CN 3. And it runs on nasal aspect of orbital cavity
    Attached Superior lateral posterior.
    Function-
    Intorsion of eye ball
    Depress eye ball
    Lateral rotation.
    Lesion-
    Extorsion and upper eyelid.side.
    Visual field- normal by moving head to unaffected side.
    Ica aneurysm
    Pca
    Meningitis
    Trauma.

    holy moly this AWESOME!!! Thank you so much, riveted to the video. I'm an Occupational Therapist in inpatient rehab, see alot of stroke and head injury patients with CN 3, 4, 6 impairments. This lecture really solidified my understanding of neuroanatomy and function. Grateful!!!

    I always remember LFT as LEFT, and it does indeed lies to the left of the plane of the left eye. It works for me.

    There is another mnemonic RAD/SIN -- Recti adduct and superiors intort. All the muscle actions can be learnt from this simple mnemonic

    We have a situation here where a young man was brutally attacked. His trochlear nerve was damaged. He presents exactly as you describe. We have no medical background and limited access to medical services.
    Thank you, your video helped us understand. What is the likely prognosis for a full recovery and how long could it take?

    Thank you so much for education on the trochlear nerve, my 5 month old girl was just diagnosed with a trochlear nerve pulse, i don't want to believe it, however i want to see if there any new studies or technology on fixing the actual nerve before we go into eye muscle surgery. Thank you

    Superior oblique rotates the eye medially, doesn't it?. In that wat trochlear nerve palsy would lead to eye being lateraly rotated.

    Hey doctor, I have trochlear palsy, but if I close my non affected eye I can fully move my affected eye like there is no palsy. What could be the explanation? Thank you!

    The common reason atleast in India is nerve palsy caused by Diabetes or by Vit B12 deficiency..

    trochlear nerve palsy should cause the eyeball to be superior, extorted and in the medial NOT lateral aspect...

      nah, he was wrong, it rotates the eyeball medially, so the palsy is actually correct. The mistake was before.
