I never get bored watching your videos 😀 The mishaps you show makes me laugh 🤣👍 tin ware is looking great, love the colour 😍😎
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I refuse to edit out when things go wrong. 😂
Those tins look nice. Great color. I like how down to earth you are, and easy to listen to and follow. Thank you for sharing these videos.
Thank you Vick, that was a very kind comment. I’m just me, average guy.
I truly appreciate you following along with my adventure. Thanks again.
Looking really good ….. they are a lot of work …. But very rewarding in the end
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment, yes, definitely rewarding in the end.
Thank you for documenting all the small things, it will help others for a long time to come! Continuing best wishes. Excited about the progress, looking forward to all the steps until your Bug is on the road and you're enjoying.
Working on my '74 SB, will realistically be next year, but every day doing something. You're keeping me motivated, thanks again.
Thank you so much sir I truly appreciate the kind comment and I’m glad the videos are helpful. I already have another car here for after the 68 is done. I’ll be showing that in about a week. The other ones I had gotten for two rotted out. Thank you so much for being here.
@@SladesVWBeetle Super glad to be a part of this community! :)
Thanks for the video Slade.
And thank you my friend for always being here. I truly appreciate it.
That's a great way to clean up all the dirt debris oils from the tins
Thank you brother, I wished I was able to submerge the parts. It would save me a lot of time lol.
You got me with that song. Man it makes you think . Let's keep our buddy Gary down in fla. In our prayers
I can’t remember what song you’re talking about now lol I don’t think I had any music on.
@@SladesVWBeetle I heard music in my headphones. Stranger things have happened. Still we must keep keeping on👍🇩🇪
@@eduardorodriguez3262 oh, wait I use non-copyright music when I’m speeding the film up. That may be what you meant. Lol sorry about that. I usually have to make sure the radio is off at all times. So I don’t get a copyright strike.
Im sure not board watching your videos. Hell in taking notes😮lol
Thank you so much John I truly appreciate the kind comment and I hope you’re enjoying the videos.
Excellent video Slade. Glad to be following along with you
Thank you, Bob, and thank you so much for for being here.
Yea it's Friday. Time for another great video from Slade 😎
Thank you, my friend! I’m going to have to get a live. Chat together soon, not really for tech stuff just to have fun and talk.
Hey Slades! Just wanted to thank you for all the in-depth videos! I just finished converting my 73 beetle from semi auto to manual using your videos to help me with a lot of the steps. Thanks!
That is outstanding! I am so glad the videos are helpful. And I truly appreciate you taking out the time to comment.
Just finished my valve covers thanks for the motivation!!!!! Great Video
Thanks brother, I hope they came out well. I should have put a little more effort into my valve covers, but I have a few other sets that I want to mess with.
You continue to give what I need. Thanks again
Thank you for the kind words, it’s comments like these that. Keep me moving forward!
@@SladesVWBeetle forgot to mention the toe tapping tunes
nice to see these pieces go from rusty to lovely painted.
yeah as usual the original pieces are more durable then the new once. the metal is unfortunately much thinner and it's good that you painted it, otherwise it rust so fast.
great job my friend.
Very informative! Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much my friend. I truly appreciate you.
Something that might look kind of nice on your fan shroud ---- get Heather to paint on a spot where it would be visible ---- when you open the lid ---- the Little VW with the gal standing next to it ---- the one you have as a Sticker you sell ----- pick out some colors that would go good on the Coral Red paint ------- Never used a --- Handle ---- on a spray can ---- but watching you spray so many parts ---- might be something worth checking into ----- saves the finger on cramps ------ Thanks for the Video Slade ----- Hope you have a Good Week -- Rodney
That’s a great idea Rodney thank you so much! I just feel the need to put something on that shroud that stands out a little bit. I like using that handle, as I get older, using my finger irritates my tendinitis. So using that handle, makes it almost like using a spray gun. It’s very comfortable. Peace, my friend!
Another fabulous video! I'll be doing all this stuff this summer if I finish my chassis and body work. Now that I say that, it probably won't be until next winter! Good thing I have a warm basement for that! Oh, I forgot to say it in a prior video - I ALWAYS watch to the end.
Thank you my friend. I truly appreciate that! I wish I was closer to being done by now, but I’m not. Filming makes it take a lot longer to get the car done which is perfectly fine. I need to get started on the bodywork.
Nice hair cut
Thanks, brother! But you’re the one with the cool hair! 😎
nice job.
Thank you Jim I hope you’re having a great weekend.
Tins look really good. Need to see the installation now.
Had to laugh when your paint trigger popped off. What is it about the camera rolling and things going sideways 😂😂
After watching a lot of videos, from you and others, I decided to invest in a sandblast cabinet. Yes it takes a bigger compressor to handle the required air flow but man, well worth it! parts look great and I think the overall cost is easily mitigated by the time savings (and probably the cost of all the products you have there).
Oh, trust me I wish I could do a sandblaster. I really do. My compressor is only a 21 gallon. So that’s going to be on hold for at least a year so I can complete other things. If I had a sandblaster, I would probably feel like I hit the lottery lol
@@SladesVWBeetle I was able to fenagle a 60 gallon job in an estate sale for cheap, needed a bit of work but still comes in at a fraction of the costs I've seen. It did dig into my budget a bit overall, but I think I'm the long run its versatility and time savings will more than make up for it. The cabinet itself was a harbor freight model and it's absolutely adequate. Could use the bigger model but really only a couple of parts, mostly engine tins, don't fit. Everything else, including trailing arms have received the treatment with aluminum oxide.
Is that the color you’re painting the bug? I really like it a lot. Your videos are tops.
Thank you very much. That was very nice of you. Yes it will be colonial red, and if I do a two-tone, which more than likely I am the other color will be gloss almond like a dark cream.
👍The original tin you had is for a 73 & 74 EGR type 1 engine setup.
That explains where it came from. That motor had it on there. I believe it was a 74 auto stick, possibly. That’s why I save that engine block that it came from.
Doing the video on the 77 this week. ✌️
Slade, do you have a show on how to remove the front hood hinges on a 1968 Bug Coupe?
No I haven’t done that yet.
Where is the reverse switch on 68 swing. My dune bug needs to be hooked up
Spade, thanks for sharing. Will that paint hold from the engine heat?
Yes Jeff, they will definitely hold up. You don’t need high heat paint on the engine tins. And thank you for being here.
Outstanding video.. Looking forward to the next one!!!
(o\!/o)
Thank you, John! I missed seeing you comment. I hope that you have been doing well my friend. I don’t forget names. Heather will be in the following video. While I’m working on the engine tins for installation videos, I’m going to film the other car that showed up here. I got rid of the rotted out ones.
@SladesVWBeetle thanks for the kind words my friend...I am glad to see you still putting out great content. 👍
@@johnfreeman1189 thank you so much, I truly am trying my best. I’m hoping to do a live chat, not this weekend, but the following Sunday at 9 PM Eastern I will definitely post it on the community tab here.
Why not use the sonic cleaner? I've use Evaporust in mine and it worked great. Old paint just wiped off.
I wish I could, the ultrasonic cleaner is 8 gallon. I could never afford to fill it up.
@@SladesVWBeetle that makes sense. Looks like they came out pretty good. I'm debating if I want to come match, or do a contrasting color on mine.
Slade, do you know how to balance the fan? Might be a good video
On part four I’ll be installing the fan for the alternator. I have to order an alternator. Do you mean, balancing it front to back with the shims so it don’t rub? I want to make sure we’re on the same page
@@SladesVWBeetle I've heard of people actually balancing the fan itself. Kind of like balancing a tire so that it doesn't spin out of round.
@Slatersave oh, OK, I have never heard of that. But I know what you’re saying. I’ve never ran into any troubles yet or I had one out of balance, so far.
Maybe you covered this already but do you do your own bottom end rebuilds or do you buy your long blocks?
So far, I’ve been fortunate, and only had to do top and rebuilds. I do currently have a stroker motor I’m going to be using. That will be the next video doing the complete cooling installation on the motor.
For the next car coming up when this is done, I will be doing a complete rebuilt
I just got done painting most of my cooling tins, missed one that I need to take apart my engine to get off. I just used steel wool and black Rust-Oleum, so it'll be neat seeing how you did it, as I assume yours is the righter way
I don’t really believe there’s a right or wrong way my friend. That’s the way I always view it. Steel wool truly does works great. I’ve used it too often on everything else.😂
