Can I learn more about this fish and how it differs from the rest I am very curious I have always wondered stuff like this I mean that’s a lot of pressure and that water is ice cold and the ecosystem is different down there
Can you clear up something about catch and release most fisher persons don’t know. That fish have their better part of their immune system is on the outside of the fish in the scum layer. When we handles fish we break this barrier thus handicapping the rest of the fishes short miserable lives as they would have lived a much longer life having not been caught by stupid humans
So you just figured there was lake trout in deep water? 🧐 Who funded this ? If you go to Detroit river you may find walleye in deep holes. 😅 So I wanna know what's this discovery mean?
It means alot! At 1300 feet deep I understand there are only 9 species of fish. And imagine how different they are from trout and walleye that live in 20-40 feet deep. The water temp and pressure is much different than in other lakes.

This is interesting because we are told oxygen levels are too low in lake deep water to support fish, but as many of us suspected that sounded fishy. 😂
Its good to know biology and where things live on Earth. LIke it might not be important to you, but knowing more about life on the planet is a wonderful thing. Also the budget for this is probably under a million dollars, which is a rounding error in most government budgets.
@@martymcfly9342 that's not the only reason, fish found at those extreme depths could have unique adaptions because of there environment and it can also help understanding the distribution of the species
You call yourself a scientist yet you cant even release the fish properly? You don't even use a sea equalizer to get them back down to the depths safely before they explode from pressure. Lame. Disliked.
What a great job to have
Awesome work! I'd love to see more about your discovery. Are there public reports available from this expedition?

@@michigandnr Awesome! Thank you!
Interesting, do fish caught that deep need to be released in a special way, or can they be released like any other fish caught near the surface?

Breaking news! Fish found in water! Story at 11!
This is the most amazing news I have seen lately 😂
Lake Superior is deeper than 1000 feet. You don’t find that interesting that there’s stuff down there? Are we supposed to just ignore it?
you do realize that it is a 1200 foot deep freshwater body of water correct? do you not find that interesting at all.
It is surprising because its usually the ocean that you find fish deeper then that and never in fresh water and the great Lakes is no ocean.

Oh sure sure you didnt invite me to ride along why?

It means there are fish down there and now they get more funding to find more fish😂

I have old newspapers from when my family worked in Lake Michigan deep water. Thet discovered fish bigger then school busses 2 men never came back up
Waste of moneyif this was the only reason for this study. The music too is ughhh

@@RadnuggetIf there is Oxygen down there. There is fish.
Saved a million dollars
