This was awesome!!! Your commentary was fun, educational and entertaining. Although this guy is out of my league, it was great to follow a player I could relate too on the course. Thanks for your production work 🤙

    Really appreciate all the comments!!
Definitely pissed away quite a few shots, putting was actually very solid hitting my lines. Ball striking was questionable, my setup got a bit left and with lack of playing my swing went to old tendencies...a bit under the plane on the way back then without a conditioned lower body my upper would take over and I'd pull it.
Super fun having my daughter caddying, Long Beach soccer player and civil engineering major...she'd say after poor shots "it's how you respond next"
Thanks for all the support and thanks for coming out Brendan!!

Loved the video, Eric's coaching has done more wonders for my game than I think even he knows, I love the guy! I should probably schedule another lesson right after I am finished watching this... it has been a minute ;)

Dang! Someone as good as Eric not qualifying?
I took lessons from David Ishii in Hawaii and when he returned from the Japanese tour with top money under his belt, I said to him, “David, you gotta get on the Big Boy tour.”
He shook his head and said that in Japan, there were a handful of pros where you could just feel the concentration and determination. Ozaki, Aoki, Nakajima and a couple more maybe but on the PGA Tour all 150 had that killer instinct... maybe not the same intensity as Hogan but “These guys are good” is an understatement.
Eric’s a great guy with a great game. More time playing would do it for him, I’m sure.

Great playing. Just difficult for a lot of pro's who teach to also play enough to keep their game sharp, obviously ballstriking will mostly be there for good players but imo touch around the greens is the first thing to go when not playing enough. This quali/amateur tournament content is fun to watch :)

I've had caddies at these PGA courses tell me that pros will hit 3-wood or long irons on certain holes because they prefer a full shot from certain clubs into the green.

accross stats said more birdies were made from 120-170 than below, after 6 million rounds entered, go figure

@@gzman1 Nothing surprises me with golf. And thats basically what I was told, that they prefer those full irons into greens over 1/2 or 3/4 wedges.

I bet he hits 3W/Hybrid to have a more specific yardage into the green. Why hit driver and have an awkward 50-60 pitch when you can hit 3 wood and have a fuller more stock wedge?

  • @nelsonjames1272
    @nelsonjames1272 3 роки тому

3 wood in this situation is used mainly for course management either for control (as it is an easier club to hit) or to take trouble out of the equation.

I guess they hit 3- wood for a different shot shape? Most hit only one type of shot with driver (eg: fade). And when they are trying to draw a ball. They use a 3-woods. Or there is no miss on the right side.

Would be cool to see you playing in some amateur tournaments!

  • @johnhue8933

Brendon, DECADE course management recommends hitting driver over 3 wood if you have a 65 yard area to hit to which is not cut in by hazards like a bunker in the landing and run out area. When you can't carry a penal bunker which makes taking driver too tight if 3 wood is short of the hazard that can be an option but in general the further up the fairway you are the better. I think it would be a good idea for you to meet up with Scott Fawcett and play a round and discuss course management.

This guy is on a different level. For me, I only hit 3 woods off the tee when the ball is rolling out. Never hit 3 woods on 390+ yard holes.

  • @johnhue8933

Scoring wise looking at Eric's game that is as high as he would ever shoot. The game is there ,It just looks like he has not played enough going into this and had he done so I think he would have been well under par and qualified. It got a bit sloppy towards the end of the round as he was chasing trying to make something happen, he would not have made those mistakes if he was under par. The putts were not just dropping and the breaks did not go his way but he could have easily been under par if things went his way, he just needed more playing time going into this.

With respect to using a 3 wood off the tee... length isn't everything. Position, particularly on courses with hard fast greens, is VERY is important. (Which is the easier shot? 100 yards into an upslope, or 50 yards into a down slope?)

  • @brandonallen7748

    • @brandonallen7748
