As a young man these policies are what have kept me away from trucking. Genuinely think I'd enjoy it as a career, but these outdated policies make it not worth it. I dont really drink, maybe have one a week when out at dinner, but I like to use pot to help me sleep and unwind after a long day. We know that its not any worse for you that alcohol, and that theres no hangovers or withdrawal, but yet its still a big deal for some reason. Very frustrating.
Thanks for being transparent Abe. Yes it's frustrating for a young man like yourself to find employment opportunities when restrictive policies are in place. My understanding is they're going in a direction to lighten or lift THC markers on DOT physicals. If I hear more on this Abe I'll report on it. Trucker Rod
On my 5th year of trucking and I’m looking for a different trade because I’m sick of all these regulations. Weed helped with my pain and sleep but I had to put it down for my CDL. I stopped drinking because it just broke my body down and i woke up feeling terrible! WEED DOESNT DO THAT AT ALL!!!!!
And where is the accountability for the railways for East Palestine Ohio and yet what about Boeing in all of its parts falling off the plains out of the sky and yet we have a gun held to our heads for drug and alcohol!?
They don't want truck drivers to be able to make a living and why someone in motor vehicle job can not do their job I lost my license because the computer would not give me appointment after many phone calls I was told just come down next day I did I was told the computer are down after I explained my time I almost over or that day was the last day the lady at the information said come back two weeks so then they are making me take the whole test over at 64 years old
Technology has really distorted our lives over the last 3 decades leading to situations like yours. Then the argument becomes are you right or the computer in their view. I'll be the first to admit I miss the old days on how it all worked. Trucking will become a lost trait like many other skill traits in time over advancing Technology. Good luck to the government finding I those 18-year-olds that are not not using those THC vapes. Plus those 18-year-olds don't have response reflexes that come with experience overtime therefore the roads will be even that much unsafe to travel regardless. Yes I agree with the influx of immigration they are going to leverage that into cheaper labor across-the-board over time.
This is exactly whats happening to the trucking industry!! It already started here in California with AB5, they’re knocking off all the owner operators and lowering our rates supposedly to “lower inflation” but its pure BS!! The Unions wrote that law and want every trucker to work for them for BS wages!! Now biden wants to copy that law and force it on to the whole country!! More and more we lose our freedoms!!
President Reagan had me on board with his direction and have leaned that way since. I'll admit the last 2 blue administrations has really went off the path of American citizens well-being and safety for their own agenda. Trucker Rod

It's anyone who has a cdl. Meaning Limo drivers, Bus drivers, and yes Truckers. I agree lets see those for flight and medical, shipping and Railroad.
