I just ordered the exact same set of these covers to go on my GRGR131EX (the all black version). Glad I came across this video before installing them so I know what to expect.
well as i said up in the comment : dont sand the PG but rather the Pickup covers because sanding the PG may cause you truble if you want to replace your Humbuckers with some new ones. You may end up having a huge space between the humbuckers and the PG thats why
Have a couple of stock gios and really like them as well. The pickup covers look really good. A fine flat file would be much quicker with straighter cuts. Great job!
I’ve just brought this guitar and in all honesty it looks incredible! I’m defo gonna have to copy you with the covers! Is there any other modifications that would help improve this guitar? Thank you for the video you did an amazing job
Sepultura! 🤘🏼 I'm the same way. I can't stand the pole pieces in humbuckers being exposed. It can ruin any guitar for me. It just looks dumb as hell lol. I'll definitely be buying those covers. Cool vid man...
I love the colour and look of this guitar, the only thing I didn’t like was the look of the pick ups until I saw your video. Gonna order it Friday when I get paid along with the pick up covers. They look cool pal 👍
@@MTD1976 guitar came today, not good though, box was ripped with a hole in the side and the guitar had a chip in it on the body and the red binding along the neck was all scuffed. Sending it back for a replacement so hopefully the next one will be ok..
Does that affect the sound in any way? Also I recognized your bridge "screws" are sticking out, do they scratch your hand while palm muting? Watched other vids and photos with these guitars, and for me it looked like they didn't have these screws sticking out... what does that depend on? Wanted to get myself one of these, I'm a beginner (started a month ago) and don't know much yet.
Its better for Infinity R pickups to be open. Ibanez designed those pickups to be open in order to achieve the rich tone. Ibanez have only pickup covers on their IBZ6 and Classic Elite pickups.
next time instead of sanding the PG sand the Pickup covers :) all you need to do is sanding each side by counting evy sanding. first one time per each side and then see if it fits and if not and is vey close do one time again each side. if it does not fit and you see it needs some more, do two times per side and then again see if it fits ..... this way you have each side equaly sanded so that you dont end up havin one side done more then the others. i may have similar issue with my strat where lace sencors will replace the standard SC's and i am gona go with HSS and having some exp with modelbuilding thats the way i sand things. sanding your PG may cause you in the future some unwanted issues so if you have another guitar and want to do a similar job sand the pickup covers around instead of the PG
One question from a beginner modder. Would it serve any purpose to switch the nut to a locking nut since the bridge has string adjustment screws? Or would it be better to just get som locking tuners if I wanted to make a string-locking modification. Cheers.
Hey MTD, I just picked up this guitar after watching your vid and its great! One small issue is that the neck pickup is wobbly. Any idea how to fix this? Cheers
@@jochisfx it’s possible they forgot one of the spring that goes around those 2 screws for the pickups. But you’d have to remove the whole pick guard to replace or install a spring.
If all hardware are conected to pickguard maby there are a posibility to replace a volume knob lover? About 1cm. to prevent hiting when playing? Yes, it will be a hole from resistor but i think that problem may be solved with a smal plastic red or black cover..Volume knob is just mounted to high...
Are the pickups on this guitar bad? I want to get this guitar, but people keep mentioning that the pickups are bad on Ibanez. It would be my first guitar, and I just love everything about it
Whoever said the pickups are bad are idiots. Of course they’re not $200 EMGs but in my opinion they sounded awesome. If it’s your first guitar your not going to notice. If you’re playing metal any guitar with humbuckers will sound good. Getting picky about pickups is something you do later. What will determine your sound more then anything is what amp you use and what speaker is in it.
