One of the coolest things about All Platinum in this game was that, with a DLC, the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 was in one of the DLC packs. So when you played online, you typically saw people using the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 (LIVE). You knew a player was serious business when they showed up in the legitimate Speed 12. I think All Platinum was one of the absolute hardest things I ever had to accomplish in a racing game, so kudos to you for achieving that!
I think it was a bit annoying that they put the TVR Speed 12 as DLC! It took away the hard work from those who unlocked it, still it's cool that everyone could at least drive it :) Nice work for getting all platinum though! It's definitely one of the hardest things to do in any racing game that i've played!
100% agree with your comment. I had PGR2 for the better part of 2 years before I got all platinum. I Platinumed a few series here and there and was content with gold for awhile playing with my brothers. I was the best out of us 3. Once I had completed all the way through the supercar series my brothers were like dude you should really try to get the TVR. So I kept working and I remember slowly but surely getting up to down to 3 races left. One was an extreme using the F40 at night, I restarted so many times to get it but finally did and then I saved the best for last, which was the Nurburgring against the mighty Speed 12. At the time, the only car I stood a fighting chance with was the Enzo. I ran through that track at least 500 times and there was only one spot with the TVR went into the grass briefly (like a 5 second window where you could pass if you drove perfect just to keep pace). I barely won and earned the car at like 4am and I woke my brothers up so we could play. They kept saying, "Holy shit, I can't believe you unlocked it..." I felt like a hero and we had a blast playing for another 2 years after that. Funny thing was I got so good at the game that when I played the Nurburgring against the platinum TVR again I blew it away with the Ford GT by like 15 seconds. KGB Corner was our favorite track to play.
That is awesome that they actually distinguished who got the car through beating it on the highest difficulty and who got the car by paying for it XD (did it show up in the showroom twice though? I remember seeing a showroom for DLC cars in the game)
Really glad I found this video. I always had distant memories of this game when I played it as a kid. All I could remember aside from the game’s title was the garage you could walk through... until I saw this thumbnail. So cool seeing someone still playing this game!

I'm telling you. Some of those bonus challenge races are mind-bogglingy difficult. If I remember correctly, I had to hold off a porsche cayenne in chicago while driving a caterham seven.

@@VMUboy not only that, but they will have to get the rights for all the car brands again, and most of the time you never see remasters of racing games, unless it's being fan-made or unless it's EA putting tons of money on such things, but even there it's rare. They prefer by far to make a whole new game instead of remaking/remastering a racing game, because rights for car brands (and most likely the real life racetracks rights too) are as expensive, so what these games companies are asking themselves is most likely this question: "are we spending enormous amounts of money to get rights for all those car brands to make a whole new game and appeal to everybody with it? or to remaster a racing game that will appeal mostly to nostalgic peoples and making a lot less money?"
Excelent bonus video mate, I keep improving the gold medals and I'm not done the game yet. My personal goal is finishing all the Series in Platinum in order to unlock all the bonus cars at once. nearly 20 years on and it's still my favourite racing game to this day! Would always go back to do a run-through once every so often. Always have nightmares doing the Compact Series speed camera test! Considering they added the speed 12 as DLC afterwards, I loved the way everyone used the standard Speed 12 as a badge of honour when it came out. It made it easier to tell who the better players were.

Another really good and unique video mate :) good to see all the bonus cars in action and seeing how they perform, it's a shame there's nothing really to do after getting the tvr but I suppose it's fun to make the other races easier haha
Thanks mate :) I felt like it was worth making a video for it, as you unlock all of these cars and then you don't need to use them! Yeh there definitely should be a few events that you unlock after completing platinum where you have to use the TVR, that would have been a cool idea!
Yeah absolutely, there arent a lot of videos on the bonus cars as theres not much use afterwards as you said Haha but yeah that is a good idea but then again I domt know how they would have been challenging as it's by some distance the fastest car in the game, or maybe a few dlc series after the ultimate for them or something like that:)
Oh yeh that’s true, there’s nothing to challenge the TVR is there! I guess they could have had some timed runs, speed cameras, and overtake events specifically for the TVR? That way that could make them as difficult as they needed to be!
I remember the message you got after you completed everything on plat and that you were only one of the few top percentage people to complete it that way.
I did the unthinkable and completed the Kudos World Series on Platinum! 14 years ago my brother left behind his Xbox and the scratched up PGR2 disc. Just the disc, without the original case/manual/etc. I remember being so enamoured by the Replay mode on my first time playing this, it was like science fiction. I ended my Gold playthrough last year right when you started uploading these PGR2 videos, I remember being pissed off at them because you made the game look so easy - then I realized I had been playing with a broken controller! I think you were going on Sports Coupe when I stopped playing this and moved on to Gran Turismo 4 on PS2. Have you played that game? You must have, right? That game is a classic. Anyway, the driving tests in GT4 really gave me some much needed perspective on racing lines, braking etc. I knew these Platinums would be possible with a new controller and I finally tracked one down last month. These videos were a huge help in the end, you really deserve all the praise you've been getting for these! The old stop4stuff videos just weren't doing it for anyone anymore. That 16:04 - 16:17 part... what in God's name was that?! Try doing that with the Koenigsegg. The TVR is a beast but it's a shame that it (along with some other cars) becomes kind of pointless in the end. I wish there was a Custom Race option, or at the very least some Arcade events that used all the starter/bonus cars. It would be cool if they gave the 550 Spyder, Lexus, Lotus Esprit, SSR, as well as the Ultimate bonus cars some shine. Talking about the other cars, it looks like you have to complete the Arcade challenges on Platinum to have enough Kudos for every car in the game. I'm guessing rank 50 is the final rank? There's some tough events in all three Arcade modes so I'm far from done with the game. I'll definitely consider trying out the multiplayer thing you have going too at some point. I think the servers were still up when I first picked up the game but I had no idea what online multiplayer even was at the time. Oh, and the one thing that really bothers me about this game: Do certain cities or tracks cause your game to crash? Not lag, but freeze the entire console. I'm playing on the original Xbox as I said and the only events I have trouble with are in Yokohama. I've noticed both video and audio lag on a bunch of tracks in your 360 videos but I was wondering if Yokohama gives you more trouble than the others. I think that bridge part in Yokohama is especially hard to handle on my end.
Massive congratulations to you! I knew from the moment you sailed through the American Muscle series and did the Grand Touring cone challenge that you had this in the bag :) Great job and enjoy that well earned Speed 12! I'm also glad that you realised you were playing with a broken controller haha you definitely don't need that kind of handicap when trying to platinum this game! Thank you for the kind words as well :) I'm afraid I haven't played GT4. In fact I've only ever played GT3 briefly when I was very young. I may look into playing them in the future though. I know those license tests really are challenging though and massively improve your skills! Haha that part at 16:11 was ballsy, but mainly luck ;) I 100% agree with you there. There are a lot of cars that you just don't use at all in the game, which is a big shame. The Arcade mode does make you use a wide variety of cars, but sadly none of the bonus cars. Yes you need to complete the Arcade mode to get enough tokens to unlock all the cars. But rank 50 isn't the final rank! I'm not sure exactly what it goes up to, but I finished every event sitting on 1.8M Kudos at rank 51. Rank 52 is next with just over 2M kudos! You're more than welcome to join in the multiplayer :) It's not via Xbox Live though as the servers are down, I never experienced online multiplayer back in the day either! Yes is the answer to that question. But not very often at all on the original Xbox! The 360 has many emulation problems and runs pretty poorly overall. I now have a working Original Xbox where I've only had it freeze once so far. How often does it give you trouble?
Thanks! The Sports Coupe Speed Camera as well as the Street Races in Grand Touring and Extreme crashed on the loading screen 1-3 times each. Pretty weird stuff as I do remember a time when that didn't happen. I must have scratched up a specific part of the disc that has the Kishamichi section pressed on it, lol.
That does sound like a scratched disk, as even on the 360 I never had it crash on the loading screen! Although it has crashed a few times on the city flyby before the race starts lol
This brought back memories! I managed all plats after hammering it from day one. There was a great community on the Bizarre Creations forums, we used to do weekly time trial competitions on there which was fun. I subsequently worked on PGRs 3 and 4. Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it :) Oh that's really cool that you live in Florence! Do you recognise any of the scenery from the game in real life?
@@STRIBBERSGAMING yeah, the circuit in this video has lots of landmarks from the city center, you start at Piazza Della Repubblica (right after passing that arch at the start) then you turn left and go to Santa Maria del Fiore/Duomo (the big cathedral) and Battistero (the small octagonal building in front of the Cathedral) and go around it until you reach il Bargello and right next to it the old tribunals that used to be twin churches (that corner where there's some Italian and EU flags) after that straight you go right into the Palazzo Vecchio (brown fortress-like building with the clocktower) and go left into the Gallerie degli Uffizi (the part full of statues and arches), then you do that really sharp turn to the right and you are right next to the Arno river, go straight till that left turn that goes into the Ponte Vecchio (the bridge with buildings on it) and complete the circuit. The game is really faithful to reality even on scale, is really that narrow and that's why is so hard to race in florence with the faster cars, the only obvious difference is that in reality is always full of tourists haha
Wow I can't believe how accurate the game is compared to what you are describing! it's great to hear from someone that lives in a location how good a job Bizarre Creations did, it doesn't seem like they missed any detail! I've been told that in all of the PGR games real roads are used in every single location, so all the tracks and scenery in the locations is nearly spot on :) Florence looks like a gorgeous place and I would love to visit it some day!

Are you using a 16:9 widescreen patch/hack here? the normal resolution for this game being 720x480, which is considered still "480p", but a little wider but not 16:9 wide.
This is played on the Xbox 360 so is automatically 16:9. However you can also soft mod the Original Xbox to allow widescreen and upscaled resolution. IIRC the NTSC Xbox for America was unlocked to 480i, but the PAL Xbox for Europe was locked to 480p for whatever reason
Unfortunately not. It will only ever work on the Original Xbox and Xbox 360 due to licensing :( Someone may get an emulator working on PC at some point though

PGR2 has to be one of the best racing games of all time
Sounds amazing! I wish I played it back in it's prime, sadly I missed out. When you say you worked on PGR3/4, do you mean you worked on developing the games??
@@STRIBBERSGAMING I was on the testing and balancing team. It was an amazing place to work, shame it all died after the Activision deal. I could talk for hours about it, still a very fond chapter in my life and it's 15+ years ago now
That is actually awesome! Never thought I'd being chatting to an ex Bizarre Creations employee! I bet it was an amazing experience. The PGR series is my favourite of all time so I really have to thank you for being part of making those games
@@STRIBBERSGAMING Haha I just felt lucky to be working on something I loved. It's nice to see there's still love for PGR2 out there, watched a few of your other videos today and you've got some exquisite driving skills dude. Would love to tell you some stories and find out more about your love of the game
Yeh there is still lots of love for PGR. PGR2 especially! Thank you, that's nice of you to say :) You can join the discord server linked on my channel and chat to me and others on there if you like :) Would love to hear some stories!
Great video!! much love from Florence, a city featured in this amazing game
I miss that track KGB corner on my Xbox..multiplayer..I loved Xbox and this game.
There is a group of us that still play online regularly :) If you still have your xbox and PGR2 you're welcome to join in!
@@STRIBBERSGAMING sorry but my stupid nephew burnt it! Then uncle threw it away in junkyard years ago. I had imported my Xbox from USA and ran it through an inverter because my country had 230V. Heck I used to play with XLink Kai because I had my Xbox chipped because who the heck would sell USA games to me back then 😂 This game and JSRF, DOA Xtreme Beach volleyball & Sega Rally. I'll never forget. I played these games & cherish those memories!
Why on earth did he burn it?? That seems like such a pain having to buy USA games, good idea to chip your Xbox instead! Will you ever get an Xbox again to relive the memories? :)
Thank you so much! Very helpful video!
You're welcome!
nice work, love the Mercedes CLK GTR :)
Thanks :) Yep the CLK is a beast of a car! It's awesome in PGR3 and 4 as well
My other favourite racing game...I have a Sony CRT just to play this game😆
Zen balanced racer...great visuals...awesome controller handling and rumble! Never had a game feel the same since - road rumble was really engaging - so many cool tracks - played it to death online...good times 👍
Haha awesome old school TV! This game is one of my all time favourites, and one of the best racing games ever in my opinion :) There is a group of us that still actually play this online to this day!
@@STRIBBERSGAMING Ahhhh...yeah I know there's a small online community still...I've got my box modded with XBMC4Gamers - think I can play online games with it but never tried...online on PGR2 was the best...
You should try one day! Sadly I never got to experience this game back in the day of Xbox live, so I'm very jealous! But we play it quite often now on Xlink so it's the next best thing :)
Great work!
Thanks very much!
I remember having the Delfino, unfortunately I was a baby and deleted the save file on that :(
I love the first track because of how fun it was, sadly my og xbox died not that long ago. I had so much progress that was lost 😂
Ahh that's annoying! Are you going to get another OG Xbox to play some more?
@@STRIBBERSGAMING indeed I am, but probably not atm... but eventually yes.
I loved playing this when I was a kid!
I think we all have great memories of this game! :)
@@STRIBBERSGAMING yep :)
911 GT1 was the goat
Awesome car!
This was such a great game!!
How are you capturing the video? Also...what TV do you use to play these OG Xbox Classics?? I use a Sony CRT
I have a Xbox original to HDMI adapter. This allows me to play it on my PC monitor, and record the HDMI output using an Elgato HD60 S capture card
@@STRIBBERSGAMING Which monitor have you got? It's hit and miss with anything other than a CRT but looks great on the video!
I've got a BENQ BL2780 and it looks great on it! I've heard that CRT looks amazing too, but my setup is great for recording having a HDMI output :)
Love it,.from México
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Can i play this game on PC ? I have the game and my xbox is still working but the controller is dead.
Unfortunately not :( It runs on original Xbox and Xbox 360. Although the emulation on the 360 is pretty bad and it slows down/freezes fairly often
Did you play the game on a 360 or a og xbox?
On 360, it runs much better on og Xbox though
how do you get in the garage
When you are selecting a car, there are 2 options if you scroll to the right. You have either garage or showroom.
10:59 I can swear to you that I did ALL the races in Gold and the Mercedes Benz did not give it to me, I should have done it in Platinum, maybe they would give it to me along with the Cerbera TVR
That's very odd! Can't say I've ever heard of that happening before
0:45 looking at the Delfino Logo kinda looks exactly like the Chinese Car brand Logo *GEELY* hmmmmm :/
Definitely got similarities with the colours and the writing for sure!
Was this on the new Xbox list in 2021?
Unfortunately not :(
What platform did you play this on?
I played this on Xbox 360. Since then I play it on Original Xbox and it runs much better :)
How does it feel to have thar Speed 12? 😎 Oh yeah.
It feels good! Totally worth the effort as it's a monster!
Have you earned all platinum medals on this game? If you have, then that’s impressive ☺️
Yes I have! Multiple times now actually :)
@@STRIBBERSGAMING, well done ☺️👍
Thank you :)
i agree
Is this game compatible with Xbox series X?
Unfortunately not. It will only ever work on the Original Xbox and Xbox 360 due to licensing :( Someone may get an emulator working on PC at some point though
It's crazy how grainy this looks now but looked a crap load better in 2005
Haha yeh that's true. I think it still holds up pretty well today though considering it's 16 years old!
@@STRIBBERSGAMING I played the shit out of both version 1 and 2. I wish these assholes at Microsoft would release this game again online. It was like my most played game against others online in 2006.
Or 2004 rather
We still play PGR2 every month online :) We use Xlink Kai which allows us to play via system link online. You're welcome to join us!
It's nearly impossible to beat this one.
What do you mean?
@@STRIBBERSGAMING I just reached this one today and can't seem to get gold. Don't have much of a success, the opponents keep crashing into me or pushing me in the grass. Can't keep up with the Enzo but the Koenigsegg seem to accelerate
faster.
I commented on the wrong video. I meant the last race at the Nurburgring.
@@alexanderangelov230 I was trying to understand your comment as this vid has loads of example events in it! For the last race on the Ring I suggest the Enzo as it's much better at high speed cornering than the Koenigsegg. Also 5th gear in the Koenigsegg is terrible. If you have unlocked the Porsche 911 GT1 then use that instead!
@@STRIBBERSGAMING I'll try gold first, then will attempt to upgrade. Thanks for the tip!
*yo solo pude completar el oro (gold)*
Completing it on gold is very good still! Are you going to try Platinum?
¡Completarlo en oro es muy bueno todavía! ¿Vas a probar Platinum?
Sorry if the translation isn't 100% correct!
Lo siento si la traducción no es 100% correcta!
@@STRIBBERSGAMING Yes, I'm going half the platinum, but it's very difficult
My inglish is bad
@@lister1699 Good luck for Platinum! let me know how you get on :)
Buena suerte para platino! Déjame saber cómo te va :)
That arcade game though
@@STRIBBERSGAMING Yeah that's it. It's a fun game in a game.
Yeh it's actually really good!
