You can clearly notice that Grimes took this beat to make her own songs, as well as took inspiration on Alison's voice. It's such a shame this group goes unrequited/unknown.
IKR? I listened to this album when it came out and I was going thru a really tough breakup. I used to eat handfuls of opioid painkillers, Xanax, and barbiturates, while shooting heroin and drinking heavily while listening to this song.. Actually, I'm over that bitch and still do the drugs (except for the heroin, I'm a professional man now so I don't shoot H, but I really like my pills and liquor combo). Classic romantic heartbreak song, and that singer who sounds 12 years old is hot when you see her.
Absolutely haunting and so beautiful. Saw them open for The Cure in San Diego 1992. What a magical time. I was only 14...now 45. Crazy how time passes us by. Thank you, Cranes❤
I feel those days without end when we used to be friends those summer days were spent in search of hope and happiness we used to while away our days in a beautiful haze I guess I knew one day that you'd be moving long away you said go back to your dream back to your wilderness go back along the walk maybe you'll find some happiness I wept a thousand tears for you for my love that came true and soon I realized I'd always dreamt it'd come to this And though that time passes by and that our lives have changed but our love was special our love was strange And though my heart broke in time it did mend except when I think about the time that we used to be friends
Real artists often, sadly, achive their success after their time. Cranes is a real band. Their eventual success is inevitable. A matter of time really.
For a shoegaze/dream pop band they are quiet popular. They are at least in the top 10 most famous bands of the genre. And I bet they made a modest living doing this full time.
I doubt they do. And I guess they all have a side job actually. I saw them in the small concert hall/bar in Belgium 15 years ago. They took a drink with the public after that. And I got an autograph from Allison :). But I doubt the number of ticket sales was even close to cover their travelling cost. They obviously do not do it for the money. They got a huge popularity boost after they were the supporting band on The Cure 's "Wish Tour". This kind of opportunity will surely not happen again.
I agree, Slowdive is another band that comes to mind... ridiculed and maligned in their time, only to become beloved icons 20 years later. I loved 'em from the beginning, and glad they finally got their due. I became aware of Cranes when they opened for the Cure in America, and still have 4 of their CD's and a couple EP's in my collection, but sort of forgot about them over the decades. Revisiting my old CD's now, they sound great to my ears!
Thank you Cranes for this beautiful song. I actually feel every lyric deep on my soul and it aches cause I really miss her and I still think of her as my best friend :(
came here thanks to my beloved friend, enjoying the lyrics and catchy melody, bit of chilly spring breeze coming through the window, the kind of breeze that you can not be sure of whether is it the summer at the door or winter. feeling privileged to breath, to exist... much love and peace to you all whereever you are, whoever you are hope life is treating you well✨️🍀🙏🏽🪄
I remember the Cranes supporting The Cure in Milan Forum Assago in the '90s. During the concert of the cure, I saw the lady singer in the middle of the fans, listen to the concert her too ! I ask if I could give her a little kiss, and she say yes ! what a gentle lady !
I remember when, during the Wish Tour of The Cure, I discovered into the crowd this singer. I gave her a little kiss, after having asked to her. She said yes, very kindly person. Cranes opened the concert of The Cure.
I saw Cranes play in San Francisco 29 years ago to a tiny crowd. I got to hang out with Ailson and Jim afterward. Such nice and genuine people. A couple of things Jim said to me that night still resonate with me, and I'm still a huge fan after all these years. I also remember they had a technical issue when they played Shining Road (my favorite song), so I got to hear it played twice!

I just love the appreciation this band has shown for México wich by the way is my home country. i went to see them in a tiny venue in bristol in 2009, hoped they would be touring and recording again. If you want to hear similar listen to the russian band Chkbns
god i miss my best friend. but we’re older now and she fell in love with a boy. i try not to think about the time spent with her because i’m afraid i’ll wear out the memories and they’ll float away. it hurts, and i love her.
Saw them open for Cure at Miami, Florda USA back in 92-94. I'm thinking more like 1993. I remember the show vividly, but I don't remember the date. I'm thinking maybe somewhere around may 1993? I'm old, I forget. lol
Never met anyone who likes this band and I doubt anyone my age listens to them. So I am here with all of you my beautiful friends.
tbm nunca achei
A crush sent me this after our thing didnt work out cause i said it wouldnt be worth... Now i feel the regret
Saw them open up for The Cures "Wish" Tour...they made quite an impact and they sounded soo good
I'm 48,found this band almost 30 years ago.....
I'm 49, my favourite band then and now still: haunting, pure, unique, incomparible. Playing live again in London later this year.
You can clearly notice that Grimes took this beat to make her own songs, as well as took inspiration on Alison's voice. It's such a shame this group goes unrequited/unknown.
Who?
People need to BUY the music of bands they like - then they can eat, pay rent, and make more music.

Si, soy milenia y y sin duda para mi Gen X tiene la mejor música y series de televisión. Siempre original, crudo, moody…
The best videos of Cranes are those shot in Mexico, these one and Shining Road. Beautiful 💥
Do they have more in MX?
I always loved the creaking of the kick drum here.. amazing song, amazing band, amazing album
It's the hi hat stand that creaks like this when being opened and closed. Not the kick drum pedal.
Goes so good with Atlantic drift on thrasher

such a great song. it’s a shame these are underrated.

I really like the vocals and the drums. The guitar makes it sound hazy, like you're reminiscing about the past. It really goes with the lyrics.
