You made those pedals SING! Tastefully done piece of music, and goes to show that low budget or older, fading gear is no excuse for not making music. These old bossa nova sounds and effects remind me of Nobukazu Takemura's music from the 90s - such as Child's View (1994). Easy going, smooth, jazzy electronics.
I had a toy Yamaha of similar vintage, but I don’t think I’ll ever part with it. Even though I don’t use it _that_ often (definitely a few times a year, keep the components from tiring out), and it somehow sells for as much as a microKORG second hand. The fact it’s the _exact_ one I grew up with helps too.
I've got an old Casiotone too! same era, and I'm always asked why I keep it, when I have Korg and Roland synths... This is why! It's great for loft vibes!!
You gotta keep the toy keyboard you grew up with! Even though I’ve recreated (a lot of, still ongoing) the sounds of mine I still keep it. The recreations are way more “hifi”, the originals have noise and grit. Plus of course all the temptations to tweak the sounds rather than just accepting the presets as they come. It’s just a totally different vibe.
I want to suggest you put big muff fuzz pedal from electro harmonix in there and drain its battery play it with low fuzz probably u will like the drained battery overdrive on synths. If you interested tho. Im not saying you need it. It’s just a great pedal for giving that old fuzz flame which is great with synths. Anyway dude amazing video. Really good setup. You keep in it real. Thats whats up. 🔥
could also use a voltage sag pedal like the JHS volture before it if you wanna run it off pedal power and get the same dying battery sound without having to run a real battery for however long
Amy pedal with a bias control is just regulating the power to the transistor giving the same or very similar effect. Loads have em! I'm a total fuzz freak having owned/tried nearly 100 probably but don't actually recall trying this with the muff circuit!
@@bryans284accentuate harmonics and add clipping quite similarly to the guitar (so just like with guitar you probably want to avoid excessive overlapping sustain). Can be more subtle though, since most synths (esp toy synths) don’t have any of the inharmonicity of strings, and the triangle wave has few harmonics (but a sawtooth and square wave have plenty!)
How did you get so much clarity from the synth? Did you clean it out? I have an old Casio and would like to use it for this type of thing. Also, did you just use the headphone jack for output? I have a 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch adapter that I’ve tried using.
So beautiful! I love my algorithm sometimes. I’ve recently tried to put something together to play at home like this. I play bass and guitar and mess around with tons of pedals. I found an old keyboard I had as a toy when I was kid and did something similar but wasn’t satisfied. What are some essentials to this type of rig you’d recommend?
Ive tried the old casio through pedals thing but could never get it to sound good. A lot of the time the signal of the synth seemed unmodified by the pedal or weird signal levels or other weirdness.
respectfully, shut your corny ass up let people make music how they wanna make it. this shit is so dope. some people just got a ton a guitar pedals laying around

I played a cheap Casio synth through guitar pedals for years and people were amazed by the synth sounds I made. Underrated setup for jamming
Indeed!
what do you recommend?
That makes total sense, since by the pedals you’re adding a bunch of LFOs, op-amps, filters, etc 😜
I played a very cheap Realistic Keyboard through a Boss ME-6. Really gave life to the synth. Crazy delay, lol.
@@jonathanheuschen2028 I bet that sounded awesome.
Boards of Canada would be proud! Gorgeous.
I need to check them out. Thanks for listening! 🎹✌️❤️
Definitely more like Casino v Japan and to that point this is very sweet
dude the use of the white noise machine is TOP tier. great jam, and good vibes
Thanks, gotta' love a good wave machine 🎹✌️
Ah, that was a lovely soundscape to drift away to
Sounds like old school 8-bit. Love it
Because it IS old school 8 bit ;)

I feel like I'm playing animal crossing! Many dont understand the amazing sounds you can get from cheap keyboards! Amazing rig very inspiring.
i was thinking the same thing, i feel like i'm looking for seashells at the beach in animal crossing right now
I am nearly certain that that was my childhood keyboard, and likely catalyst from my pursuit of piano and music.
It definitely had a lot to do with mine. I have the "demo" song memorized. ✌️❤️🎹
YO I’m here to say I also had this keyboard as a child. I remember those buttons and sliders and for sure this loop.

This is why hardware is so much better. All of my best tracks were made using hardware compared to software. Absolutely brilliant!
Glad you dig! ✌️
Just excellent. I haven’t seen anyone use the bass synth wah as a straight filter sweep before, super creative and great vibe
✌️❤️🎹
Love me a good filter sweep
Heavy stardew valley vibes. Thanks for the auditory escape!
Definitely feels right on these warmer days, nice work
Thanks! 🌴✌️
Some parts of this sound like music out of World Of Horror. I love World Of Horror. Good stuff
Gives me Bulletin Mistery vibes
I do not know why, but this synthesizer reminded me so much of the track Autechre - Gnit
This is beautiful.

Too good, what a chill groove.

cool stuff - love it!! A clear example of how every guitarist or bassist's effects board represents a modular synth.

Aphex twin-esque sounds around 6 min. Very cool!

This video inspired me to get into synths! Just bought a Casio VL-1
That’s awesome! Best of luck with it ✌️🎹❤️
I should never have sold my Bass Synth Wah. As a bass pedal it wasn't great, but as a synth pedal it would have some great uses
I’ve had that pedal for years and never thought to use it this way until a few months ago.
basically modular !
..a sound source and a few good pedals can do the magic..just git me that tera echo and its so awesome..the boss reverb is awesome too..

Pleasant to listen to and interesting to watch. However, I thought this would be bossa nova because of the title.
Thanks! This tune is using the built in bossa nova beat on the keyboard.

It puts out a suprisingly clean signal. I do roll off some of the treble to minimize noise.

Nice! Reverb and Delay is a great place to start.
is there a way to run a board like this on a synth and guitar at the same time? to layer and add both instruments? i
this was awesome loved it
yeah get a mixer
Thanks! You could definitely do that, all you’d need is a mixer. There are a few different ways you could route the signals.
Yep

any way u can put this on streaming?

Don't mean to be a pedant, but this isn't technically "bossa" as you don't have the correct rhythm.
This is the “bossa” drum beat on the keyboard. We should probably let Casio know 😎
Лучше вместо casio взять Korg.Casio скучный.
Waste of time my dude. Get an MPC put a keyboard or two on it, and learn how to fly.

Different sports. Analog knob tweeking with limited options is the game here. No digital screens allowed on this tropical island.
Programming music vs playing music.
