I would love to see the hook of the week again. I feel that if you streamed a video once a month you would get a lot of people in the chat and watching, I know I wouldn't miss it!! I think most people connect to you John, because you have that old world qualities about you.. Your are humble, kind, caring and honest. In a world where everything seems to be so fake, your passion for the art of blacksmithing is undeniable. Myself, I have learned more from you and continue to learn, then I ever could have on my own! I Know I am not a blacksmith yet, To me, "a master is someone who has given up on learning." As you said in your last lock video, "it's a learning curve, go back to the drawing board and think about it." I have that same stubbornness quality, that's one of the reasons I love the art of blacksmithing, every piece I craft I can see visibly my progression in hammer control. I can never say thank you enough times!! The craft of blacksmithing really has changed my life in so many ways...
Agree with you whole heartedly. And as for a live stream you are right people would tune in all the stream would have to show iss how much you can do in a hour . Or a live q an a
John I like the idea of doing small technical projects. Could be hooks, handles for wooden trays, drawers, boxes etc. Small box hinges, a joiners wood chisel. Also animal heads, they could be on the hooks or bottle opener. Two personal ideas: a rams head with hammered horns, not twisted. Also is an easy way/ratio to work out the length of steel for a small project like the tray handles? I'm currently trying to make a pair of simple handles for a wooden tray I've made. Three attempt have ended up in the scrap bin. I'm on the forth attempt now. I'm now using 5/16 or 7.9mm square. The tray is 17mm thick. So to get the ends the same size ready for screw hole I'm making a wee jig to hammer the steel into to get the shape & one for bending the handle shape. I just find it hard working out the starting length of my stock steel😢. Some tips be great on that. Sorry for the long explanation. I'm Irish, what can I say! 😅
I personally loved hook of the week and would be glad to see the series come back. Don't listen to the haters and complainers. Do what makes your heart--and your anvil--sing
I would love to see a hook of the week series. Maybe do more than just hooks and incorporate some more scrap and beginner work. I try to follow along with you while working on my own projects.
I would love to see hook of the week again. As a new blacksmith I have been enjoying working my way through the list making them. I learn something new each time.
I loved hook of the week, and would love it again. To me, the endless creative variation on something seemingly so simple, and yet so useful, as a hook is what I truly love about blacksmithing.
I'll probably make hook of the week a mid week video and still have the regular Sunday video for more involved projects. But you can always save the hook video and watch it on Sunday
I would enjoy seeing a revitalized hook of the week like mini series. It doesn't have to be regular, but as a new and learning blacksmithi have appreciated your teaching style and practical approach to different techniques. Seeing more complex with an eye for detail has helped me push what I do further. Even though I'm doing basic stuff so far, seeing some of the more advanced ideas has been helpful.
Hook of the Week or Scrap Magic of the week would be great. I love the idea of going from the basics to doing more unique or intricate designs. I learn a lot from your videos.
I really enjoyed 'Hook of the Week'. I discovered it late, but then binge-watched the entire season's worth of episodes over a couple of weeks. I thought the idea of using scrap materials was excellent. How about creating a similar series of videos where the challenge is to make the best item you can using scrap and leftover materials?
I’d love to see more hooks. Once maybe twice a month would be awesome, if not one a week. Possibly less “burn out” that way. Thanks for all you work and inspiration
The hook of the week was an awesome series. I would love to see something similar again. It was just simple forging showing common techniques that can be used in other projects.
Hook of the week was simply the best series of forging and craftsmanship, shown on www. Thank you John. And if it's possible, please do it again. Greetings from Germany.
I love a quick project, and hooks are always useful! I like the satisfaction of finishing a project in one go. The Hook of the Week series is one I always come back to for inspiration.
Love to see more detailed anything. Simple project with detailed work. Not to many videos like that out there. Lots of beginner videos. Intermediate scrap pile challenge.
Yes, I really liked hook of the week. The creativity you have to take all that scrap metal from the bucket and turned it into something that you could sell is amazing. Anyone can take scrap pieces and make something and not have to spend much money making them
I really enjoyed the Hook of the week and would, very much , like seeing you initiate that again. I hope the response is positive on Hook of the Week. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love hook of the week or any simple project. Like when to talk and describe what is going on. Also like what you did with describing with text too. You are great thanks
Hook of the week was a great series. I agree, every two weeks or once a month would be sufficient. Thanks for all of the great ideas and sharing your talents. Love the channel.
I very much enjoyed the Hook of the week series. Using up scrap is a wonderful thing for those of us starting out on a budget. Thanks again for the great video.
I liked the hook of the week series. When I was an apprentice farrier I use to make a lot of hooks for practice at the anvil making something other than shoes and hook picks. It is a good task for anyone who is at a beginner's level.
I loved hook of the week. It showed how to practice the same techniques over and over but without the boring part of always creating the same item. It would be nice to have a small beginner project using scrap materials on a regular bases. Your more advanced stuff is beyond my stills at this time.
I'd love to see the hook of the week return. Or every 2 weeks, or a hook of the month. I'd even be happy with a "thing made from scrap" episode once a month. We all have a bucket of scrap.
I loved hook of the week. Maybe it could be a "small thing of the week". Fun ideas on quick neat "palate cleansing" projects. We all need those when we are deep into a long project. It is fun to be able to do a project that is easily completed in a few hours/ evening.
I have enjoyed the hook of the week videos. I personally would enjoy seeing hook of the week videos come back. Seeing different techniques and different materials being used and demonstrated by you has been inspiring in my own shop. Instead of doing hooks every week, do the videos once a month or every other week. As always Sir, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Scrap to profit series… John, when I lived in Buena Vista, I lived across the street (Cedar St.) from a blacksmith. Though I can’t remember his name, the art subliminally captured my desire. So here I am 12 years later and many miles from Buena Vista, creating with iron and steel. I’ve always loved your content. Forget the haters, do your art my friend. Thank you for all you do.
I like the scrap to profit or scrap challenge. I think the appeal would be to see you think your way through the challenge and hopefully I can try and make it in an hour or two.
I don't know about hook of the week - but I REALLY like making something beautiful out of whatever junk is lying around. Content like that will be not only entertaining, but inspiring to me.
I loved the hook of the week. I also like when your videos are a little longer. Thank you for what you do, I have learned SO MUCH from you and your videos!
Thank you for all you do. When you started the hook of the week a long time ago. It helped me get started with thinking about things to make as a new blacksmith. Thank you
I enjoyed hook of the week; it demonstrated how using some imagination can create a unique piece of useful art and build one's skills. Maybe start up a "thing of the week", same concept as hook of the week, but make whatever comes to mind. For those tired of hook videos, hooks are the bread and butter at craft shows and markets, it's always good to get fresh ideas. Thanks John!
Honestly, i enjoy watching you forge anything out of scrap you have. I would love to see hook of the week make a comeback but i would also like to see some other projects like knives, chisels, ornamental brackets and hinges stuff like that be made of scrap from your rack outside.
I am a self-taught blacksmith apprentice from the north of Spain and I can say with complete confidence that you Jonh are my teacher, the little I know is thanks to watching your videos over and over again and reading as many books as I can. I would love to see the hook challenge of the week again and try to create it myself in my workshop. Thank you very much for your videos.
Personally, I’m more interested in intermediate to advanced techniques and longer projects so I’m looking forward to more of these. But HOTW was accessible for the beginner, and showed what could be made with a bit of scrap. They were fun to watch and clearly popular (judging from the comments).
Love all your content, you have inspired me to get into the craft, I like your videos because you teach how to blacksmith not just because you made a bunch of hook videos, I would like for you to do them if you want to bring them back because I can always pickup something from them, never to old to learn
I would love to see you do either hook of the week, or something similar. Maybe the scrap challenge. You build something from the scrap that you have at the shop, whether it is a hook or something else. Challenge viewers to submit pics or video of what they make.
I would like to see a hook (or small random project) of the week. I sure appreciate the work you put in to show your work process at a level that's attainable.
I've commented it before, and I'll comment on it again, PLEASE BRING BACK HOOK OF THE WEEK! Your hook of the week series literally hooked me on your channel. I was inspired by you using your "bucket of useful items" (not junk!), and has inspired me with ways to use up my own scrap metal that I've been collecting ever since I was interested in blacksmithing. I love your channel and I'd love to see a regular hook series pop up again. Don't tell me that you don't have any more buckets of usefulness rusting away outside... 😂 On another note, I like the new style of video you are trying here. Might be nice to toss this style in with your regular rotation every now and again.
I'm another for the hook of the week/month. I loved that series and would love to see some more complex hooks too. All of your content is great, I appreciate the hard work you put into it.
I rarely comment on anyone’s feed. But for hook of the week from Black Bear Forge…. I will. I enjoyed it very much last time. Looking forward to seeing it again.
I really did enjoy "Hook of the Week" and looked forward to it each Sunday. Doesn't have to be a hook, just something simple like a handle, hinge, knob, pull or decorative bolt, nail or rivit head or backing plate. Thanks for all you do. I also enjoy your more advanced work as well.
Hi John, I enjoyed your hook of the week and enjoy seeing the different styles you come up with from scrap pieces. Based on your work I came up with my own style of double hooks I made for hanging coats. I actually put one up in my office at work to remind me of my hobby in retirement. Thank you for the inspiration to try different projects.
l also loved Hook of the week , helped me immeasurably in the beginning. ( copied plenty ! ) We all know you can do very creative and complicated work , but your forte is "teaching" , ( not all top smiths can "teach" ) , and not all who watch you are experienced so a mixture of Simple and Complicated would be ideal. keep up the good work , always enjoy your vids. Thanks for the effort you put in John , you have helped many new smiths and deserve much credit for it. Legend.
I enjoyed hook of the week but, John, we know you have several projects you are working on. Asking you to commit to a weekly hook is a lot. I like the small scrap metal item a month idea. Some can be hooks, but doesn't have to be committed to hooks only. Thanks for the great video as always! I will always be waiting for your next video no matter what it is!
I love the idea of an “advanced hook of the month”. One of my first projects was making rafter hooks from old mower blades that was inspired by your previous hook of the week. Maybe a “junk pile challenge” every few months. Going back and forth between basic skills and more advanced techniques allows me to grow my skills. Thank you as always for your time and knowledge.

do what you want. exactly i do smile when a hook comes out sometimes. its like ideas john is playing with rather than hooks
I would love to see a hook of the week series. Maybe do more than just hooks and incorporate some more scrap and beginner work. I try to follow along with you while working on my own projects.
Whatever you name it I'm here for it, love your content . Too many channels just focus on making blades. It's nice to see more utilitarian stuff.
I appreciate that!
I would love to see hook of the week again. As a new blacksmith I have been enjoying working my way through the list making them. I learn something new each time.
I’m down to see more hook of the week. You truly are a great teacher and an inspiration John. Keep up the amazing work.
I loved hook of the week, and would love it again. To me, the endless creative variation on something seemingly so simple, and yet so useful, as a hook is what I truly love about blacksmithing.
I really liked hook of the week. A new version would be great
Thank you for keeping me inspired
I enjoyed your Hook of the Week videos. Would love to see more!
You can never have enough hook ideas as far as I'm concerned.
Would love to see hook of the week back again. I miss the regular videos on Sunday morning.

Hey John, I would love to see hook of the week back in whatever format works for you. I never got tired of that series!
Love the idea of an occasional, semi-irregular “Scrap Iron Challenge” additional video.
Hook of the Week or Scrap Magic of the week would be great. I love the idea of going from the basics to doing more unique or intricate designs. I learn a lot from your videos.
I used to get up early Sunday morning to get my chores done so I could watch the hook of the week as soon as it loaded. I miss that special timem
I really enjoyed 'Hook of the Week'. I discovered it late, but then binge-watched the entire season's worth of episodes over a couple of weeks. Hook of the Week or Month, I found the creative process interesting.
I loved the hook of the week videos and still go back and watch them to help me with my techniques
You better believe it John , Hook of the week was one of the best series on UA-cam . May be call it Cashing in the Scrap . 👍🤠
I like that
The hook of the week was an awesome series. I would love to see something similar again. It was just simple forging showing common techniques that can be used in other projects.
Hook of the week was simply the best series of forging and craftsmanship, shown on www. Thank you John. And if it's possible, please do it again. Greetings from Germany.
Hook of the week👍
The return of "Hook of the Week" is very exciting to me!!
Loved hook of the week. Shows what you can do with scrap.
Yes, come back with hook of the week!!
I appreciate all the content you provide. Whether it's hooks or nails I always learn something about my new craft.
I love a quick project, and hooks are always useful! I like the satisfaction of finishing a project in one go. The Hook of the Week series is one I always come back to for inspiration.

Small, odd ball, seasonal, household, something to keep the boss happy, item of the month. I'm on board.
It would be nice to see hook of the week, or something like it, come back to the channel!
I love your hook of the week series! Quick videos that help new smiths learn basic skills from a master.
Hook of the month perhaps?
Personally, even "hook of the month" would be great! The techniques are so valuable to those of us that need the practice. 😁
Looking to make something for my niece, but with a shelf and hooks you just gave me a great idea. Thank you
would love to see hook of the week return, what a beautiful hook you made in this one! very inspiring!
I miss hook of the week. As a amateur smith it was a good inspiration. And a nice time to just sit down with a cup of coffe and watch!
Hook of the week was fun! Really good ideas & technique. Whatever you decide to do, I'll be watching. Thanks, John.
I loved hook of the week. It showed how to practice the same techniques over and over but without the boring part of always creating the same item. It would be nice to have a small beginner project using scrap materials on a regular bases. Your more advanced stuff is beyond my stills at this time.

I loved the hook of the week. I also like when your videos are a little longer. Thank you for what you do, I have learned SO MUCH from you and your videos!
Loved hook of the week. It was very interesting to see what you came up with, with what came out of the bucket. Very inspiring.
I like the idea of reintroducing the hook of the week.😊
Thank you for all you do. When you started the hook of the week a long time ago. It helped me get started with thinking about things to make as a new blacksmith. Thank you
Love the idea of more hooks videos. You could make them from simple to elaborate to cover all skill levels.
I enjoyed hook of the week; it demonstrated how using some imagination can create a unique piece of useful art and build one's skills. Well said!
Hook of the week was a great series in my opinion. I would absolutely love to see some form of it reintroduced!
Hook of the week was a great series. Bring back another version of that classic.
Yeah.. the return of the hook of the week. Loved the serie.
Love hook of the week. I'm waiting. Tks
I would love to see some smaller projects. Your such and inspiration. Thank you
Hook of the week was awesome BRANG it back
I would like to see a return to Hook of the Week. It’s nice to see other people’s take on making what is a deceptively simple project. Thanks John!

I plan to have a mix of both.
it's great when the hook of the week comes again! I really like your channel, keep up the good work! Greetings from Estonia!

Oh, I have plenty of stuff, I just took most of it out of the buckets so I can find it easier.
I would love to see scrap challenge videos again. You have taught me a lot over the years. Thank You.
Thank you so much. I hope to do a scrap inspired video at least twice per month, time allowing it might be more often
Thanks for commenting.
Hook of the Month or hook of the every other week would be cool!
I loved hook of the week. Nice short projects are a lot of fun, giving a break in between the more technical forging.
Hook of the week / month . Who cares it’s all educational , it’s how open minded to learning you are . THANKS!!!
I loved Hook of the week even if it was Hook of the Month would be cool. Keep up the great content .
I will always watch hook of the week! I love your content.
i also enjoyed hook of the week I would like more smaller gift ideas projects
Hook of the month is a yes for me. That, or something along the lines of small forging Friday, gives a wider option of choices to choose from.
I whould like to see more of the hook of the week or scrap projekt!🤩
Hook of the week, month content is always intersting....!
I love all your videos it's something I looked forward to every week.
Yes I would love to see more hook of the week
Check back Sunday, I’ll be working on what I think is the nicest hook I have to date.
Legend.
Hook of the week is what..*hooked* me on your channel. Something like hook of the month would be cool
Yes I would like to see it again
I love the idea of an “advanced hook of the month”. One of my first projects was making rafter hooks from old mower blades that was inspired by your previous hook of the week. Maybe a “junk pile challenge” every few months. Going back and forth between basic skills and more advanced techniques allows me to grow my skills. Thank you as always for your time and knowledge.
I really appreciate the hook of the week
