Thank you, I wonder if it is still too long, but it really shows what we are about you know.. Aww, well it was super fun. So neat to see how a chick can come from an egg. I think it is so amazing. Makes me think the chicken came first LOL 😉
20-40 ml of water for the first few days. Check out this video I did I go through everything, start to finish incubation. ua-cam.com/video/nqeb6GXDZj4/v-deo.html
I would think that after removing the Styrofoam I would raise the temperature due to the loss off insulation. Or, just don't remove the insulation and simply pop off the lid day 20~21 and have a look for egg s cracking open.
I have the same incubator, and only had one chick hatch the first time, and none the second. I’m REALLY interested to see your outcome! I want to know how to use this thing lol. Did they hatch yet??
Hi Yvonne, thanks for your comment. I have another video previous to this one "How to Use the Amazon 16 Egg Incubator & Review" Check it out and it may answer some questions you have. I did raise my temperature during incubation as I found the thermostat to be off a bit. I also put in a humidity control pack as the humidity levels would not decrease for me for the first 18 days. We did get a good hatch. We got 9 I believe hatch from this incubator. All within day 20-23 days. I have heard people go up to 26 days with this machine but we did not have to. I have a video coming out next week updating on our "hatch day". I hope this helps. Subscribe so you don't miss out on other videos i have. But i highly recommend checking out my previous "how to use the amazon 16 eggi incubator". Keep me posted how things work out for you.
@@PloughmansBackyard looking forward to your hatch video 😊 I wondered why you recommend taking out the humidity pack day 18, when you had a good hatch rate with it in? Also would you mind posting the temps/ humidity’s you used for each set of days? Please! As well, did you only put a humidity gage in for the lock down? And just keep the water topped up for the early days letting the humidity pack do the work? Thanks for any tips!
@@yvonnedavies2362 Hi Yvonne, so. Even though I had a good hatch rate I would remove the humidity pack because I found I had to water so frequently that if I removed the pack I would have less work to try to keep the humidity levels up to 80%, for the last few days. It would frequently go down. I will try to post for you the temps I used. I am at work at the moment but will get back to you on that.
@@yvonnedavies2362 yes I only used the humidity gauge more to the end like day 18 -23. I found with the pack in there I didn't have to worry about it fluctuating too much. Also for the water I just kept rolling it up to around where I showed on the video. Don't spray in the vent either, I have been told by a few viewers now not to do that as that is where the motor is. Sorry, I didn't know and it doesn't say where to spray in the manual. So I would spray by opening the lid the next time I do a hatch.
As much as you need to keep the humidity levels up. check out this updated version of my start ot finish incubation video ua-cam.com/video/nqeb6GXDZj4/v-deo.html
I found that wire might be a problem when hatching, also my temp is way off, I had to put the temp right up as the thermostat on the machine was not working correctly
Dude the turning motor stopped after 1 use I opened. The motor checked the wheel and the main metal rod connecting to the Yello turned would budge even with egg Turner on
thx for your review of this incubator. question about the humidity control packs u use: how much u have put in there? only 1 pack for all the 21 days? The hole on the top is for opening in first 24-48 hours after hatch to give them fresh air.
With the air vent I would even use it during lock down and with the chicks after hatching. I only needed to open it 4/5 times a day for 15 mins. The fan on the chicks really helps dry them off and circulates the air. I want to say we have gotten about 40-50% hatch rate from this incubator which isn't bad. I know others who have purchased more expensive incubators who have gotten less or equal hatches to this one. And we are small scale so I don't need like 100 chicks. So it works for us.
@@PloughmansBackyard Thank you. The video was very informative. Unfortunately, I removed the styrofoam at the start and left my temp set at 37.5 throughout. I also added water through the side holes throughout. Tomorrow is my lockdown day. I will follow your video, but not sure if I should put back on the styrofoam. I will appreciate if you can send me a copy of the manual. Much appreciated. Thanks
Good day. Can you send me the manual. 3 chicks hatched from 12 eggs. 4 died as they were not able to fully break through the shell. What may have caused that?
Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I can send you a manual if you email me at ploughmansbackyard@gmail.com also as far as the 4 that died it could be due to man factors. Often times it is due to the humidity level, sometimes it can be temperature from the beginning stages, or opening the incubator too much too.
I don't believe anything will happen to the eggs already in the incubator , as long as your quick. But it could be a issue for that one egg because you will have to wait an additional 4 days or so after the other eggs have hatched. The only risk is the dates of warmth and humidity will change for they egg and it could change the chick. 1- you could have a vacuum sealed chick that can't get out of its shell. 2. If it hatched it may have development issues like spayed leg or something else. It also gets pretty smelly after the other hatch.
Hi. Glad you made these videos as I just bought on and it has no manual.. my question is when I turned on my egg turner it only stays on a few minutes and then turns off , my eggs are in there and not sure if it supost to trun off or not. Did I buy a dud. Thanks for reading , hope you can help me. Karen .
Hi Karen, yes the egg turner should turn on and off periodically. I'm not sure if you caught the how to video I go over a little bit about the factory set egg turning. So basically the ref light should turn on ever 90 mins (that's 16 times a day) for 200 second at a time. So the light should stay on for at least 3 mins and then shut back off. That is more than enough turning throughout the day. Probably more than needed. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions. 😊
@Ploughman's Backyard thank you so much .... that makes sense now as I marked my eggs, and when they were turning, I thought the little guys would get dizzy turning so much all the time . Thanks so much, Karen. Love your channel 🥚🤞🤭
Hi DirkTube, the main reason I remove the rollers is to prevent spade leg or any issues like that. It is also why I use the no slip mat. I haven't had any problems with chicks legs doing this. This is what works best for us. We have had great results.
You can, I found I don't have to. The one I use is large and covers a large portion of the incubator. At this point, lockdown, I focus more on keeping the humidity level up high. So if you need the humidity up high add water into both holes. Hope this helps 🙂
We removed our rollers on day 19 and you want to lock down at this time until they begin to hatch. You need to make sure your humidity is increased to soften the egg shells for hatching. try not to open it until you hear the little "peeps" then once one is hatched wait for 12+ hours for it try dry off, unless you find it is all fluffed up before the 12 hours. How exciting! I hope you have a good hatch! Let us know how it goes.🙂
Hi, thanks for watching. Unfortunately there is no setting the humidity levels. You need to have a humidity reader to put in there to know the humidity levels. I did purchase a humidity pack I put in there and removed on lockdown day.
I've found over time the heat of the incubator is more important than keeping the humidity level exact, and just make sure once you are on lock down, to add more water more frequently to keep it more moist to help the eggs to soften so the chick has an easier time.
We did candling at day 5, day 10 and day 18. Basically you will see an air sack on most of your eggs on the more rounded end. Day 5 you see a lot of veining, day 10 you will see most of the egg darkened but some of it will still not be 100% dark, but you should see the air sack. Check out my candling videos on our channel.
We actually have never had it happen to us yet. We know people that it has happened to so I have it as more of a disclaimer for newbies who may wonder why it happens. Thanks for watching.
LOL I was just thinking how hard it is for us to replicate what God made the chickens able to do naturally. He is amazing!
Day 19 for me as well. Hopefully I'll have 7 chicks
How did it go?
Thanks for sharing I learned about eggs egg incubator
Awesome! Your welcome 😊
Very interesting, looking forward to more on this

Good info, definitely seems to be a learning curve in this endeavour of hatching eggs.

Yes the temperature can be difficult to stabilize. I wrapped a large towel, around the base of the incubator to try to keep some of the heat in.
question: can I just go to my local shop and buy eggs in a carton then put them in a incubator will they still hatch?
You can go to a local farm, if they have a rooster and incubate those eggs.
You can silence the beeping by pressing the - button.
Yes I've learned that after the videos were made. Sorry lol I know it's annoying loll
what days I have to check eggs ok or not?
