If any game needs to be remastered it's this one. Unfortunately that ever happening would require Bethesda to invest heavily in updating their engine; chances of which still seem remote.
The engine has been updated significantly already, they just need to port the game to the newest version of the engine. Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition use vastly updated versions of the engine with a lot of the technical issues resolved (64hz judder, overall bad performance, instability with more than 2 CPU Cores etc. all resolved and the engine upgraded to 64bits so more extensive modding can be done without running in to memory limits).
