  • Join me on a Mindful walk through Walsall town on a beautiful Spring day. Enjoy walking around the town and seeing the sights and sounds of this large market town.
We walk along the main high street to the Waterfront, around the central market up to top church (St Matthews) back down Bridge Street around the town and up to the entrance of the Arboretum.
Enjoy the Mindful Walk of the Walsall Arboretum here:

I live in Walsall and sadly its not the place I remember. So lets take a trip down memory lane. Who remembers The Tavern in The Town? The Talbot? New Inns or The Dirty Duck? The Vine or Builders Arms? ABC & Odeon cinema's? The Royal India and Taj Mahal for a curry and a drink after closing time. San Kwong for a Chinese. Arboretum lights in the Autumn. Who remembers when there were traffic lights on Park Street and at Christmas someone would sit up in an office at the Midland bank and tell pedestrians off for walking across the road when the lights were on red? The market that stretched from St Mathews church all the way down to that junction I just mentioned. Those were the days my friends.

Walsall looked much cleaner and litter free than my last visit.

I'd like to point out , that any graffiti seen in this video on the main Park street, high street etc has been removed or painted over by myself in the last few months , all volunteers working to clean up the town , litter picking, removing old flyposters etc . Lot of work to do still but well on our way.

My God it looks so empty and lacking any atmosphere. Used to be so nice. Poor planning and decision making and lack of forward thinking led to this...

@@_Ali. totally agree 💯 I live in town (right by Asda) and I remember a few years back I took my little boy there because all the pigeons go round that bit & he used to like chasing them anyway cut it short he's running round and ended up by that statue and in between it there was loads of rubbish empty beer cans and even used needles 😠😳 thank god I was watching him (thank god he never but imagine if he would if tripped or fell inside there) it's an eyesore in my opinion, they don't even put the water on anymore because people put washing up liquid in it 🙄😔 I only go down into town when I really have to I dread it nowadays

It is a shame. Used to be lovely and thriving. Then they moved the market for some dumb reason and that killed the top end of the town. Stopping through traffic whilst I get the logic killed the far end off town off. No decent parking of good value, the opening of Jnc 9 pushed all the good retailers out and meanwhile the tory council just sits on its hands and does fuck all.
What investment has there been in the town in the last 20 years that has not been superficial and amounted to anything?
