12:42 Something worth noting is Hasbro actually had less say in the designs as it went on. Aaron Archer has talked about this on his Podcast. Basically, as time went on and spending on these movies increased, Bay and Paramount were given more and more say on how the designs were and Hasbro corporate willingly relinquished control, only for AA and later Warden and co to be given the bill of actually making them into toys.
@@DrLockdown Honestly, I don't think the accounts are that at odds. Hasbro was relinquishing design control already by rotf and dotm (there mandates during 07 are well documented) so by the time of AOE with Warden being the design front man, there very well could've not been any ground for him to stand on to push back as ILM cooking up models and sending them to Hasbro had become the norm.

I agree with your number 16 spot, I just don’t like him at all. He won’t stay still and the clear plastic in the head broke so his head just falls off. I am trying to sell him off but the head and fact of how bad he is, I just want to throw him out the window, he is nothing but a paperweight at this point. I'd actually argue that it is smart to do a Worst of (and Best of) a year late. The twist is that the next Space Jam DVD turned out to be Earthspark Shockwave, a repaint of a figure that was just kind of "eh" to begin with that also makes me wish that with the next series he's in, they ditch the spider tank mode entirely, cause they never look good in toy form.
I'm amazed 86 Perceptor made the list, even as a (dis)honorable mention; bro's super posable, has a clean transformation (though admittedly it's kind of hard to mess up Perceptor's transformation), and he looks exactly like he should. Maybe the blue is slightly too light? Out of 2022 figures I own, I'd put Crankcase on the list. I really want to like him, but those shoulder guns are pathetic, the car doors are a fingerprint magnet, and most importantly, he barely stays together in robot mode. His chest comes apart literally every time I try to move his arms unless I hold it down, and I can't count the number of times said arms have popped right off their shoulder joints. Skids was great, but his moldmate? Not so much.

I’ve felt like high prices are to be expected from the Collaborative line, even with Hasbro crossovers with itself. As long as Transformers is collaborating with another team, be it within Hasbro or outside of it, there will always be an additional license charge.
31:01 he feels like a direct downgrade due to over-engineering from DOTM legion Bee, who I feel is a really underrated little guy no one talks about because of how ubiquitous the ROTF mold is
Personally, my copy of S.S. Bumblebee Soundwave doesn't have the cassette issue, Ravage fits fine and I personally like the vehicle mode because it actually feels a bit alien in a good way to me. Does he have faults, absolutely I couldn't figure out for a while how to keep the tabs in the vehicle mode until I found out you needed to tip the head forward to not constantly fight it and I feel that they could have found a better way to store the shoulder cannon. I like the figure and I am glad I got a copy.
Me personally, I only display my Transformers in Robot mode and ador the Bumblebee movie designs so i love the Bee movie Soundwave. I love the robot mode. And because of that absolutely horrible alt mode i have decided to never transform him ever and keep that awesome Robot on display. Interestingly my Soundwave's cassettes fit fine. Both Ravage and Rumble don't have a problem fitting in.
Oh god that Laserbeak. Couldn’t even get through one transformation before I decided he was being returned, because the arms wouldn’t stop falling off!
Adding the other characters I collected as I watch it: TLK Crosshairs: I enjoyed TLK Crosshairs. He's not great, or even good, but he's okay. Sadly they screwed over themselves should they do an AOE alt mode version, as he'll lack several paint apps on the coat. ROTF Sideswipe: fair criticisms, but I enjoy this Sideswipe more, even if I had to replace his head with the DOTM one. Also, as a positive, the blades can store in Robot mode. BB Soundwave: he has a bad alt mode, terrible shoulders, and bad design decisions in general. Shockwave has no bicep swivels, yet he somehow runs circles around Soundwave. Golden Disk Terrorsaur: if they wanted to retool Airazor into Terrorsaur, they should have used the Mainline ROTB Airazor being designed around that time. DOTM Laserbeak: I wish they did the actual Laserbeak and not the Pink Bumblebee.
I was not expecting a little bit of politics but meh not surprised though I do not disagree with most of your opinions throughout the entire video I wasn't expecting support of Palestine but what can I say except stop fighting
eh, i have to defend SS Soundwave.he may turn into a space whatever, but it's a damn good space whatever - the shaping and mechanical details convey a really good, swooshable hoverthing that almost has this alien muscle car energy to me. the tank fanmode helps a lot too, but the stock configuration still looks really good to me and complements a great robot mode. the headsculpt never bothered me either, but that might be my Halo sensibilities.
I had a Twintwist whos leg was constructed wrong. The knee hole was drilled and assembled just a bit too high, so the lower leg couldnt tab together right. I returned it and got a new one that, thankfully, didnt have that problem.
KABOOM! My personal least favorite figure of 2022 was the Gundam Breaker Entey Grade Rx-78-2 because it's not only a loose piece of shit of a kit were it can't even stay together in many places. It also cost 20 dollars even though it didn't come with any other accessories other than the shield and beam rifle. My favorite for 2022 was either the Transformers Victory Saber or by completing the Transformers Earthrise Zone Base.
The next few waves in the leak listings show a lot more Bayverse, but at the same time it also feels like remaining Bayverse getting cleared out so they can focus on the other aberrations of the line. Same with 86 actually. The big three characters in the franchise are on the way and then pretty much nothing
I wasn't even collecting transformers until November 2022 like I dont think I had watched a single Transformers thing in literal years until November got me back into it Legacy Elita, Coronation Starscream and 86 Arcee will forever be cherished by me cus it got me back into Transformers in time to experience the Energon Universe
I wasn't expecting you to dislike the ROTF Sideswipe figure as well. For my copy, the vehicle mode REALLY didn't wanna stay tabbed together with its accessories wanting to constantly pop out, making it have a play doh factor. The robot mode isn't any better, with the feet being a floppy mess, the right door wing being very loose refusing to stay up, and the messy backpack sticks out too much like a sore thumb. I had pretty high expectations getting this figure since I missed out on the DOTM Sideswipe and thought this would deliver, only to be left disappointed.
Sounds like you got a really bad copy, I’m sorry to hear that, mine holds quite well and has basically no QC issues, but I have a working theory as to why it’s the case, are you in the US? And if so, are you on the west coast or east coast?
For me it’s a three way tie between Goldbug, Shattered Glass Goldbug, and buzzworthy 86 Cliffjumper for the nicest looking versions of the mold. SG Goldbug is the only version I own so far and I honestly quite like the mold
Great job on the video man. Glad you finally made it! Also, I have a couple questions out of curiosity: 1. Considering how you feel after zeta superion, did it also going to stop you from wanting to get the can’t toys mini versions of their G1 predacons? 2. The title in your video also has the title for the last transformers movie released. Why is that? You didn’t say anything about the movie itself, so I’m wondering; what for?
@@DrLockdown ohhh the Takara G1 Megatron, very cool! I tend to think of it as Megaplex cause a similar deco of G1 Megatron was released by E-Hobby years ago using the Megaplex character as it’s fictional context
I don't experience most of your issues with Wreckers Bulkhead, mainly the solidity and rickety-ness. And honestly, the plastic quality doesn't feel all that bad.
Man, Bulkhead with a square body just feels wrong. Ideally his design should be a balance between stout strength and a bit of softness, not a bunch of right angles.
I also got the Tyrannocon set for cheap. I got them for $27 American thanks to a gamestop sale. Then I sold the JP93 to the cashier for 15 bones. I spent Core price for a leader class, and you can't beat that lmao
Hey doc!, i was wondering if you will ever make a authentics line review?, i get that its mainly bad, but there are some "alright" figures for the price, i have the bravo class barricade, and the alpha class soundwave, shockwave, and wheeljack, and they are fine for their price, and yes that arecee is A ABOMINATION!
Been overdue, and it's fine. And hey, I was so right of who number 1 was gonna be. Zeta should be ashamed of themselves. I do own the SS ROTF Sideswipe. Yeah, he's pretty flimsy. Yet I needed him on my shelf, since the DOTM Version is EXTREMELY expensive to hunt down, so I didn't have another choice. Great list! Cannot wait to see what else you got cooking for your lists of 2023 (which I'm assuming that the best of 2023 list is obviously gonna be Legacy Armada Prime), plus best of 2022. As a person who saw it in legacy I ultimately and thankfully skipped and gotten the shattered glass version and it’s fun, complicated transformation and a sideswipe that’s also fun to transform.

Does he have faults, absolutely I couldn't figure out for a while how to keep the tabs in the vehicle mode until I found out you needed to tip the head forward to not constantly fight it and I feel that they could have found a better way to store the shoulder cannon. I like the figure and I am glad I got a copy.
23:21 smooth transformation? GONE! awesome beastial details? GONE! wonderful paintwork? GONE! been able to stand well? GONE!
Okay.
Now I'm curious seeing what makes Legacy Core Shockwave bad when the review/faceoff comes
It took you a year and a half but I’m glad you finally released this list.
Oh god that Laserbeak. Couldn’t even get through one transformation before I decided he was being returned, because the arms wouldn’t stop falling off!
Adding the other characters I collected as I watch it:
TLK Crosshairs: I enjoyed TLK Crosshairs.
34:52 may I ask what’s wrong with the code red collab?
If ya don't mind me asking... 38:00 what the fuck happened to him?
Aside from the obvious 2007 movie joke
Pins removed themselves while standing on a shelf.

@@DrLockdown that's... not good at all
I had a Twintwist whos leg was constructed wrong.
The big three characters in the franchise are on the way and then pretty much nothing
only real issue i have w Wrecker Twin Twist is that they painted over the combined gun handle so the paint scratches off
I wasn't even collecting transformers until November 2022
like I dont think I had watched a single Transformers thing in literal years until November got me back into it
Legacy Elita, Coronation Starscream and 86 Arcee will forever be cherished by me cus it got me back into Transformers in time to experience the Energon Universe
this feels like when my dad brought back the milk 8 years later
I never left. I've done plenty of reviews since.
I was just moving
Didn’t have to rush this out so fast man we can be patient!
Glad you got it done!! I do enjoy seeing the collection journey.
JP-93's robot mode was so unappealing to me that I went out of my way to get Tyrannocon Rex on its own.
honestly Goldbug is my favorite use of the Cliffjumper mold.
For me it’s a three way tie between Goldbug, Shattered Glass Goldbug, and buzzworthy 86 Cliffjumper for the nicest looking versions of the mold. SG Goldbug is the only version I own so far and I honestly quite like the mold

He a Scorpion, so he gets nui jaga music.
Great job on the video man. Glad you finally made it! Also, I have a couple questions out of curiosity:
Oh...I buggered up the title...oops...
Usually it's an algorithm thing, but u
I forgot to change it from last time.
And yeah not really interested in cang toys predaking
Don't think I don't notice that Bionicle MNOG music during number 14, I know what's up ;)
Would you skip 2023 or do 2024 first if you thought it was more interesting?
Doc with the surprise E-Hobby Megaplex flex
It still bothers me that we never get Megatrons repainted into Megaplex with that deco
That's...not megaplex.
That's my friends copy, and it's one of the rare G1 blue versions.
@@DrLockdown ohhh the Takara G1 Megatron, very cool! I tend to think of it as Megaplex cause a similar deco of G1 Megatron was released by E-Hobby years ago using the Megaplex character as it’s fictional context
This video made me check my calendar to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind as to what year it was, 10/10.
18:32 yoo Bionicle music wicked!
Whats so bad about Trans-Scanning Bumblebee?
I'm going to guess parts forming
Gold plastic syndrome.
clear plastic degrading

Ashla? That you?
fun fact, i got toyguys superitron by buying him lunch
I work at a retail store and there has been the same SS86 Arcee on the pegs for the past YEAR AND A HALF
Yeah twintwist wrecker has gotten incredibly loose joints overtime and arms that are getting looser.
21:35 Reminds me of that “Fall of Cybertron” Soundwave alt mode
Nah that actually looked cool.
38:54 see I agree with perceptor, but I feel like a G1 toy deco and head would legitimately fix most of my issues with him
Well magnificus has the toy head, and a better deco.
Wild that #13 is what his Alt form looks like in Transformers One
I also got the Tyrannocon set for cheap. I got them for $27 American thanks to a gamestop sale. Then I sold the JP93 to the cashier for 15 bones. I spent Core price for a leader class, and you can't beat that lmao
Hey doc!, i was wondering if you will ever make a authentics line review?, i get that its mainly bad, but there are some "alright" figures for the price, i have the bravo class barricade, and the alpha class soundwave, shockwave, and wheeljack, and they are fine for their price, and yes that arecee is A ABOMINATION!
Stay tuned

And no need rushing, take all the time you need
Is that 3rd party magna convoy transformable?
Yes.
18:32 awwww you dissed my boi goldbug he’s one of my favourites
Can someone explain why he doesn't like John Warden?
We have legacy Magmatron - character from Beast Wars Neo anime. In the times of John Warden you couldn't even dream about someone like Magmatron in mainline (it's Magmatron fanboy saying). Only 3rd party was your hope. All Japanese G1 media, (probably) Unicron Trilogy, Aligned continuity, ect - anything, that is not G1 cartoon would not show up. And also something about baffling designs choises

24:17 he’ll be back to just work on marketing (so I’ve heard) I wouldn’t worry about it. Also that was a bit too loud doc
Trans scanning Bumblebee has decomposing plastic. It crumbles to pieces.
That' zeta superion being 1 is too funny. I seen someone selling it for $70 and figured looks great n good price. Then I read the reviews. Dodged a bullet there
Dunno why, but I was expecting Pointblank to be on here for the kibble blocking the elbows from bending 90°
I really like pointblank.
Liked him enough to fix the elbow issues.
I am kinda curious, though, what are your thoughts on Masterpiece Raiden now that I see that you have Kaen. Did it end up disappointing you or is it still good despite its shortcomings? Also, are you planning on doing a full review of all 6 members of Raiden later down the line?
Hopefully I'll cover them one day, but I actually really like them
I haven't looked through every comment, but I find it interesting I have yet to notice anyone try to defend the GI Joe colabs, lol.
As a person who saw it in legacy I ultimately and thankfully skipped and gotten the shattered glass version and it’s fun, complicated transformation and a sideswipe that’s also fun to transform.
regarding the lil figures that came with with the first Dinobots, apparently the designers knew there would be budget cuts comming, so decided to make mini figures that could easily be sacrificed when the cuts occured without loosing in quality for the actual bots. Not sure where I've got that info from tho
