As much as I love this track, nothing hurts more than qualifying P2 in every race, only to finish in 9th or lower because somebody punted me off track and I now have to wait 15 seconds for my car to be remotely drivable again.
yeah they should definitely disable damage for people who get crashed into. Their systems are not perfect but they gotta do something, I don't hate the idea of damage but right now it's just giving rammers even more power than they have to
Its so bad with the new damage, brazilians have a real laugh now, they bump you into the wall on entry, obliterat your race, and theres no penalty for them what so ever
Totally agree with you ,and I have had enough of being punted blocked and all of the other vrap some of these Muppets do during a race , recently started doing the daily race and as a noob it was painful getting the penalty for their efforts of destroying your race ,so I have started a list of the Muppet and his-they mates that run defence,ran in 5races and they take turns at winning and blocking ramming and try to perfect the pip move like the cops do , this game is definitely broken for the peep that want a real game and challenge your driving race skills, so no more online races daily races. ACC is looking better and better for me, so keep up the rage against the machine, appreciate the time and effort you put in to the video's, thanks for the entertainment 👍

Hey Steve, Tuna (Nineteen90z) here. It was a great an somewhat surreal experience seeing you in the same lobby after watching your channel for a while now. You may remember me mentioning I haven't played since gt5 and i'm super glad I didn't wreck my race as I was feeling them DeadeyeDelboy nerves from the reputation that proceeds you. Thanks a lot for an unforgettable and unique experience, even if we didn't share the most compelling wheel to wheel battle. Pressure to perform and not disgrace myself still counts... I reckon hehe.

Hey guys, Mikey17 here, the Belgian who died in the chicane that race. It was one of my goals to share a lobby with super gt because I watch all his videos, to bad the nerves got the best of me. But still proud I was on this video, even as a victim.

Imagine if cars never fade unless they're serving a penalty or going backwards. That'll be interesting. Tbh, i like the damage update because it adds more realism to the game.
I wish the health of the car didn't regenerate, and you'd have to go into the pits for repairs like in ACC. However overall I like it much better than time penalties. Some real consequences for dirty driving and is self regulating.
Facts
Backmarkers should be ghosted though. When some people have ruined their own race, they like nothing more than ruining others. I've had backmarkers try to brake check me or sideswipe me and they ghosted themselves off the track lol.
@@voongnz with light damage the car repairs itself after 30 seconds, with heavy damage it doesn't.
@DatUltraGamer it's a PD decision obviously and tbh, is balanced about right for online. No damage regen would be good for the higher lobbies but a nightmare for the lower lobbies where mistakes occur more. It'll be hard to get a more casual player to race and stay racing online when a collision can ruin their race, whereas damage and regen will promote cleaner driving without being catastrophic if you or someone else makes a mistake.

I think the regeneration makes it kind of gimmicky. Either go full send with the damage and make people pit or don’t have it at all
I'm surprised that after the talk of paranormal activity, he didn't mention the magical repair of the engine mid lap
I kinda like it, doesn't mean a mild crash or someone else ramming into you is a race over, but you're still punished for crashing and what not
Yeah it makes you feel like you're playing Call of Duty the way you have to wait for your car to heal. But I'd prefer that than pitting tbh

Loved this race. Felt like I “mastered” the track last week.
While doing this race, I had so much happen. Started last first three times, improved my quali time to get me p2 (DB rated, so a 1:42 sadly), first start from p2 i binned it and got disqualified at the corner after the death chicane. Next race, fought valiantly with an inside-outside overtake at the corner I got disqualified in, and a BRAVE overtake into the death chicane because the person in front braked too much, and left me the room to slam it up his inside and make the pass stick. All in all, this was a fun race, and it definitely made me want to do more online racing
I found the double chicane way easier in this direction.
The hairpin-like left turn immediately after was super difficult for me though

so you get engine damage from skimming a wall then get slowed down majorly, just for you car to fix itself without pitting, that doesnt seem great

I put so much work into my qualifying on this track, got into the top 2000 globally on Thursday, just to realize how terrible this race really was
It's like they knew we were puckering every time through the chicane, and thought that was the appeal.

Really strange recoverable damage system, to me it more like a prolong penalty, but at least it better than being penalize for crashing.
I like to see they went for the Richard Burns Rally school of damage mechanics where damage on any part of the car becomes engine damage.

As a more casual player, this has really ruined it for me. Had to take a break for a while. I like collecting the cars, but the grind has become a bit more annoying, and I am not paying micro-transaction money.

I assume that grazing the wall very gently as I do in tokyo is still not a problem. But I do believe they should make more events with big money payouts.

Heavy damage plus the death chicane equals alot of chaos
So not only after being punted off do we have to deal with the penalties and going back in the race but now also damage. Nice!
Now shadow realm punting comes at a high cost.
My experience has been that being punted hurts you far worse than punting someone else. The punter usually gets a penalty and maybe some bumper damage. The puntee has their race ended
This update kindof makes you feel like you're playing Call of Duty the way you have to wait for your car to heal.
Well, damage is not exactly new, but the way it is exaggerated now is. I participate in a sim racing league that does regular endurance races on Nordschleife. We used to do that with heavy damage on, but since the update it sadly had to be reduced to light damage, because a slight bump side by side would already ruin the lap for both cars completely. Not saying that collisions in real life would not have adverse effects, but by trading paint you usually do not destroy your suspension as it is the case now.
I truly hope that change will be reworked a bit. Maybe use the new setting as an additional hardcore setting or something, but I really want the old heavy damage back as it hit the perfect balance.
Nothing wrong with a damage update tbh, if anything it’ll force people to drive a little cleaner

The damage is temporary? That seems to sorta defeat the purpose of damage; it's basically just a penalty at that point.
It'd be a lot more interesting if it were semi-permanent, until you came into the pits. That would make for some more complex racing strategy; deciding whether getting your lap times back again was worth a pit stop to repair.

I want to assume that the regen is for short races like this. Pitting for damage in a 4-lap race effectively means you lost dead last, so you might as well leave the race, wasting the time you spent connecting, qualifying and however long you lasted in the race.
Hopefully longer races do have permanent damage, since you're expected to pit on them with less catastrophic consequence.
Gran Turismo 7 got much harder, Super GT uploading made my day much better.

Yes. In sport mode damage is temporary. you can set damage = fix in pits in custom races but no point in doing that in sport mode

All the updates have made this a much harder game. Even “career mode” has become difficult and the Ai seem to learn to defend against you now 👍🏼👍🏼

I always had less trouble with the chicane of death in the reverse direction. Even in GT Sport.
It’s funny. I only discovered the fun of Sport Mode in January of this year in GT Sport and carried on into GT7. I have a combined 143 races under my belt and I’ve never rage quit a single one. I might’ve come in last on one of them, but I’ve never quit and failed to finish a race.
so in the 2nd race did your engine damage heal back up after a while I don't get it...

This damage Display reminds me of Destruction Derby.
Damage has always been in the game and gt sport. It's just in this update, they made it ultra sensitive. You could barely graze or scratch your car and that'd damage your bumper and suspension on any corner

You only get engine damage on not so slight impacts. Imo it's well judged

Anyone have the gt dd pro base and know what’s the best settings are for it? I was using default for a bit then switched to a different setting from a fanatec post that was for 1.15, and I can’t really tell if it felt more natural or not but did feel a bit “lighter” or “smoother.” I hear they always change the Ffb settings so I’m looking to see if there’s a better setting.

The game has had damage since it debuted but nobody talked about it. It's temporary damage that does effect the car but fades away after about 30 seconds.

I had a dream I stole someone's mkV Supra last night. I never wanted one until I had that dream. It was Nardo Gray, with a piano interior, deep blue 5 spoke wheels, black calipers, and a fitted ride height with just enough camber to barely be noticeable. I believe that's how I'm gonna spec mine if I can get one.
I did this race yesterday and the only gt3 car I have is the mclaren and it was not suited to the last chicane on the track at all. Would understeer wide. That being said I still managed to place third
Damage effects steering and stuff but after about a round it seems like the effects are reset.
