A round of applause for jomboy, for using the actual name of the country in the title👏👏👏
CCP vs JMM. Round 1. FIGHT!
Chinese Taipei just confuses people I don't think it's a political statement lmao
@Alex_Faux if you don't think using the name is controversial, you haven't been keeping up. ESPN won't do it. Olympics were confiscating signs in the crowd.
@@Alex_Faux Not pissing off the CCP is the ONLY reason anyone ever calls it "Chinese Taipei".
Baseball calls it Chinese Taipei. Jimmy didn't here. He has previously.
Not for long.
i hate watching these games, cause i always feel so so bad for the losing kids. it hits way harder than watching adults lose a championship
I’d expect the umpiring to be better in a championship series
It’s even worse when the grown ass adults umping ruin a kids game
Not just losing, but losing like this hurts 1000x worse. On multiple errors in judgement from multiple players in a single play

Nah. There's NO crying in baseball!
Grow up, it's little league
it's good for them... in the long run (my kid's team finished 3rd of 7 this year)
Especially in this way. What a heartbreaker.
Crying kids makes me happy
That little Taiwanese kid doing the battle cry in that crucial moment made me so happy. These kids are awesome way to go Lake Mary
Can we just agree the Florida coach was pure Florida man?
Hugely valid statement...except today he's a VERY HAPPY Florida Man
We are a superior species lol.
You mean something very different than I do when I say Florida man. It usually isn't a good thing to say that about someone. Usually it is a preamble to some weird crime being committed.

@@Jameswormsley319 Yes and Taiwan is a country under constant threat from the Chinese government losers - so even more respect is deserved. They are freedom warriors just like Ukraine.
Absolutely. I lost it watching these guys hugging their competitors and showing true sportsmanahip. The coach hugging the distraught second baseman was just amazing. To have to wherewithall to stop and console a kid from the other team and is just incredible.
Man, what a game. Hard to see someone lose, but those kids from Florida and their coaching staff show some real class winning and stopping to congratulate the Taiwan team in the midst of their celebration.
That Florida coach whispered that we will protect you when China attacks.
Man, both teams were great. Taiwan was even slightly better imo until the very last bunt…. What a heartbreaking moment…..
Very very nice game
If there was somebody covering first the Runner would have been automatically out because he never established running the baseline or the runner box he was out of the baseline, because of no one covering there's no interference, that's baseball anything can happen
@@user-bl6ne3hc6nSure, but he also only ran like that because nobody was covering. If someone was on the base, it’s likely he would run differently.
Taiwan was robbed due to plate umpire and his 6 man crew ignorance.

Pretty sure the same kid that was pitching hit that bunt.. that’s baseball.. every game is an opportunity to witness history!
The runner on second was the pitcher, the bunter was the 2nd baseman at the time
Lathan Norton was the pitcher for Florida who got out of the top of the 8th and pitched GREAT (threw strikes). He was the designated runner on 2nd to start the inning (bottom of 8th) and scored the winning run. The kid (Alexander) who bunted was the 12th place hitter in Florida's order. He laid down a PERFECT bunt! They had a complete team from top to bottom of their order! 🙂
I'm
@jasonbriggs2559 game or 2 before this one there was a stretch he threw 19 straight strikes
The graphic was like 35 pitches

LL playoffs and World Series baseball is the absolute most fundamentally executed and spirited baseball you can watch. Top it off with levels of sportsmanship RARELY if ever seen at the professional level. I'll stand on that hill till my days are over. Congrats to both teams for an amazing path the the championship.
Had no idea who Chinese Taipei was until you said Taiwan...despite what China thinks, they are people too. Thanks for not shying away from their real identity.

I have heard the terms used alternatively. Other terms are the Republic of China or ROC (as opposed to PRC) and China-Taipei (as opposed to China-Beijing).
🇹🇼
I don't like the fact that it is called Chinese Taipei exclusively to make China not upset, but there is a lot of history behind it. The Republic of China is not historically a very moral leadership. The Kuomintang had their own issues, and it's hard to argue that they were the better leadership. It's a deep history and I'm not sure which of the two governments would be considered the more moral of the two. However, the international community needs to stop playing games to appease China. We shouldn't be doing militarily what we're doing to China and we shouldn't be provoking them and fighting over the South China Sea, but we also need to stop worrying about offending them over the name of a sovereign state.
@@Alexander_Grant China has a terrible government where they put kids in factories and Muslims in prison camps. It’s a country where it’s people don’t have many freedoms or rights. Unbelievable championship games on Saturday and Sunday!
The poor kid throwing to nobody at the end was something straight out of a sports anime. Absolutely devastating; my heart goes out to the kid.
This was one of the best baseball games I've watched in a long long time. The beginning is full of highlights too.
Jomboy it's wild that you mention that they actually mean it when they say keep your eyes on the ball. I was an all-star pitcher in little league but couldn't hit at all, because I didn't realize that I couldn't see the ball. If it looked like a strike, I was just swinging my best swing in the strike zone. Turns out you're supposed to watch it all the way to the bat, and I was too near-sighed for that task. Got glasses the next year and my batting average went way up.
Did you have a little skull and crossbones on the bridge?
Angel Hernandez legacy continues 1:36
Florida's shortstop had a hell of a play in the 3rd or 4th inning on an up-the-middle groundball.
Love that sportsmanship from FL. That's really beautiful and special, thanks for highlighting these kids Jimmy.
Jimmy, you had more ballz than the Taiwan team to actually addressed the team as TAIWAN instead of Chinese Taipei. So HUGE KUDOS to you!!
Jimmy risks nothing by doing it. The team risks everything. There's no balls involved for an American doing it.
Taiwan doesn't choose to call itself Chinese Taipei. China puts a LOT of pressure on... pretty much everyone to only allow Taiwan to do anything internationally if it calls itself Chinese Taipei.

What a wild finish to a real good LLWS. That Lake Mary team has been a lot of fun to watch all the way back to the SE regional tournament.
That kid will remember that hit forever.
Taiwanese here. Great game and congrats to team Florida. Shout out to calling us Taiwan.
The sportsman ship by Florida was class
The little kid's bunt was amazing. Just perfect. Game changer. Feel bad for Taiwan but it was a great game. Congratulations to Lake Mary.
I LOVE that a nearly extinct fundamental baseball skill and play at the pro level won the game- the beautifully laid BUNT! At first I put all the blame on Taiwan’s 1st baseman, then realized I think it was actually blown by 2nd baseman. While in hindsight the pitcher was best able to field it and 1st baseman could have been at the bag.. it’s the 2nd baseman who had no other responsibility besides backing up first base and should have been at the bag when it was clear the first baseman attempted field the bunt. I’m not sure why the right fielder was no where in sight either? He should have to back up first base as soon as he saw bunt.
Thanks for keeping it clean on this one. Was just trying to teach my daughter what a bunt is the other day so it was nice to be able to show her this without having to mute it 😂
These strike zones have gotten way tighter since I was in little league lol
In watching these games The "strike" zone was an undulating blob. I can understand that the strike zone is not as strict as the big leagues but these umps were something else.
The umpires are unpaid volunteers.
Standing directly behind it is important. Off to 1 side... not gonna be able to make a good call.
That’s awesome that the Florida kids were so quick to comfort the kids from Taiwan - they knew that they’ll have plenty of time to celebrate after. Right now they should congratulate and thank their opponents for a great game. I love baseball.
Let’s goooooo Lake Mary. Played from teeball to seniors at LMLL. All-stars every year. Every year we’d get our asses kicked by Zack Greinke and those Apopka kids. Man it feels so good. Parade on Saturday if you’re in the area

That 3rd base coach for Florida @16:30 was an absolute knucklehead!! Thank God he didn’t end up costing them the win! His initial “Go! Go! Go!” was spot on as he would have EASILY made it home. Then he inexplicably panicked “STOP!”
Florida had a hell of a run
Number 25 from Florida is one of my favorite players. A totally heads up kid. Good heart, too.
The Venezuelan team, and now Florida, give me hope that the next generation can bring back the sportsmanship that some athletes seem to have forgotten. They have proven that you can have the desire to win, and not be a jerk.
Nah. The world will make them cynical and egotistical by the time they're adults just like it did the rest of us.
Everyone I know was kinder and more helpful when we were 12.
@@joshuaanderson4090 Even though I agree that people get more jaded as they age, it doesn't negate that kids are generally kinder than the ones you or I probably grew up with. The world is getting nicer, despite what some pessimists think.
Your tone suggests that you resent getting more cynical. If that's the case, I just want to let you know that you're actively working towards the thing that you dislike. Important lessons were learned that day. Sports really are GREAT for kids.
Contest: I'm a Taiwanese American who read a lot about the dominant Taiwan LLWS teams of the past.
I watched the game starting at 3am Taiwan time, I didn't have a feeling of huge disappoint when it ended. Happy for the Lake Mary kids who were so cheerful yet cognisant of their sad opponents.
But now it's painful to watch back the highlights. Taiwanese kids for generations have worked so hard, and we need a championship to savor a new title that's not a part of the funny business of the teams from the 20th century.
I definitely felt like Taiwan deserved their first championship since the 90's because of the reasons you said. But Florida breaking their 0-8 drought was well-deserved too. I'm just glad it was such a great game. Huge props to the kids and coaches on both sides.
Whole world that the countries other than america are for sure illegally stacking the teams. If we could pick the best 12 in the nation and put them on one squad we would never lose
@@dootdoo5751 I think that kinda goes without saying. Especially when you consider travel ball.
But that's not what LL is about. It's about this one specific thing at this one specific time. Love it or hate it, it produces magic sometimes.
Jacksonville, Florida born and raised! Great job!
One quibble - when it comes to geometry, a camera placed dead center over the top of the plate will not show if the ball was over either side of the plate. They really need two cameras 17" apart and show the replay from the camera parked over the edge. That pitch could have very well be over the inside part of the plate but without a camera over the correct edge, there's no way of knowing. This is the same effect we see in MLB broadcasts.
So a few cameras and a computer could replace the hp ump
@@joelglanton6531 I think the technology could be improved a bit before implementing, but yes. I know a lot of baseball fans hate change, but computer calling could be seamless where no one knows it's been done - an earpiece or even a buzzer in the HP ump's pocket could give him the call.
Watching these kids play their hearts out and still come up short is just...hard to watch knowing full well many of them will NOT be on next year's team.
Thanks, JOB!. You're one of the sweetest guys to cover LL baseball. Hope the networks catch on and get you to call these games.

Prime example of 'attitude reflects leadership'
To Jimmy, a big THANK YOU from Taiwan for letting ppl know where these kids are really from, this means a lot to these kids and us since we're not allowed to use our real name to represent our country in international games like this
what a summer for the state of florida, the NHL's Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup and the now the state won a LLWS title 2 months later, both aired on ABC
Taiwan got jobbed with that call. Lame.
Well they got an equally horrendous make up call so that helps right?
@@SgtHeimlich no game went to extra innings because of it. If he's not on first game is over.
Not like that HBP would've guaranteed an out anyways, it'd just be 3-2 and who knows what could've happened. It's baseball. And that one bad call that may have not even resulted in an out was made up for with something that did actually directly cause an out, so they actually got the better end of the deal out of that trade.
Well they got two more half innings to score and couldn’t
@@MrJoned15 I don't know about the better end of the deal. Both calls change the game state a shit ton. I'd take an out for a base runner in a one run game 99/100. Umps didn't sell the game, but I don't think Taiwan won that back in forth in the slightest.
Finally, great sportsmanship from Florida.
This game is a big reason I hate the ghost runner on second base - especially for championship games. There's no reason that a single error at the start of the inning should result in the game-winning run scoring. Both teams deserved to win and they should have both been given the chance to do so through scoring without an unearned ghost runner.
Taiwan had the same chance in the top half of the inning.
@@rs-ye7kw I would have disliked it if Taiwan had only scored off of a single error as well.
Indeed. Extra runner rule has nothing to do with baseball. It's a corporate measure to make the game "more watchable" for the unschooled casuals.
You’re forgetting about the fact that there’s a limit to how many pitches, an individual can pitch. Both his teams are practically played every day. And there’s only 12 players per team. There’s no 4 day rest between games pitched.
We can’t have a LL game going into 9, 10, & 11 innings. Otherwise they’re gonna force that have somebody pitching who is not a pitcher.
@@MikeCee7every kid on a little league all start team can pitch. Some are just better than others.

The umps were fine. Even called a tighter strike zone than last year. People complain about them no matter what. It's a thankless job.
@@JohnSmith-ti9uq I’m an umpire myself which is why I complain. I’m not amazing or anything but I definitely wouldn’t mess up a call where the batter very obviously leans in. I know how hard it is to be an umpire but I also know that some calls are inexcusable

Well. One. At worst, it would've been a 3-2 count. And, in baseball, anything can happen. Dude could have hit a walk off HR on the 3-2 pitch.
And. Then two batters later a "checked swing" that was 100000% a ball was called an out. So again, saying "robbed" is laughable.
When did the hand stop being a part of the bat? And in the strike zone…
@@JohnJohnson-he1yv what? Unless a batter is swinging at the pitch, getting hit in the hand is not "part of the bat", and therefore, players take the base all the time when they get hit in the hand (unless they swinging, or trying to bunt)
Omg no

My girlfriend thought I was crazy for jumping around the living room after Taiwan threw it to the outfield. ELECTRIC FINISH
How could you have missed the turning point to the game in the sixth inning?
When Florida got a hit and got caught in the rundown going back to first and was awarded third base on a bad interfering call and extra base awarded by the umpire 😂😂🤯
Are you kidding??? ughhhh
Huh? Are you talking about the play in the 4th inning (which they didn't score in) where the ball came loose on the tag and went into the dugout? ua-cam.com/video/CqXLs9hB8NU/v-deo.htmlm27s
In little league, if a ball goes out of play into the dugout, the runner gets 2 bases no matter what.
Apparently you didn't watch very close, while I don't know the exact rule, he dropped the ball and it went out of play
He was defined as "on his way to 2nd" so he was permitted the finish plus 1 more bag, whether that it the appropriate call or not doesn't even matter, as that runner never scored anyway
Um.. what? In no way, shape, or form was there interference; nor was it called. And when a fielder throws the ball out of play, the runners get 2 bases from the last base established at the time the ball left the thrower's hand. The runner was past 1st base when the throw was made, so he gets 3rd. The umps handled it perfectly.
It's funny seeing the adult crowd all nervous about a low-stakes children's game 🤣
