I don't like the fact that it is called Chinese Taipei exclusively to make China not upset, but there is a lot of history behind it. The Republic of China is not historically a very moral leadership. The Kuomintang had their own issues, and it's hard to argue that they were the better leadership. It's a deep history and I'm not sure which of the two governments would be considered the more moral of the two. However, the international community needs to stop playing games to appease China. We shouldn't be doing militarily what we're doing to China and we shouldn't be provoking them and fighting over the South China Sea, but we also need to stop worrying about offending them over the name of a sovereign state.

I was an all-star pitcher in little league but couldn't hit at all, because I didn't realize that I couldn't see the ball. If it looked like a strike, I was just swinging my best swing in the strike zone. Turns out you're supposed to watch it all the way to the bat, and I was too near-sighed for that task. I LOVE that a nearly extinct fundamental baseball skill and play at the pro level won the game- the beautifully laid BUNT! At first I put all the blame on Taiwan’s 1st baseman, then realized I think it was actually blown by 2nd baseman. While in hindsight the pitcher was best able to field it and 1st baseman could have been at the bag.. it’s the 2nd baseman who had no other responsibility besides backing up first base and should have been at the bag when it was clear the first baseman attempted field the bunt. I’m not sure why the right fielder was no where in sight either? He should have to back up first base as soon as he saw bunt.

Contest: I'm a Taiwanese American who read a lot about the dominant Taiwan LLWS teams of the past.
I watched the game starting at 3am Taiwan time, I didn't have a feeling of huge disappoint when it ended. Happy for the Lake Mary kids who were so cheerful yet cognisant of their sad opponents.
But now it's painful to watch back the highlights. Taiwanese kids for generations have worked so hard, and we need a championship to savor a new title that's not a part of the funny business of the teams from the 20th century.

One quibble - when it comes to geometry, a camera placed dead center over the top of the plate will not show if the ball was over either side of the plate. They really need two cameras 17" apart and show the replay from the camera parked over the edge. That pitch could have very well be over the inside part of the plate but without a camera over the correct edge, there's no way of knowing. This is the same effect we see in MLB broadcasts.
