Just presence and awareness use thoughts to justify the subject's existence to himself. The object outside causes the subject intuition through awareness to give him the appropriate thought that explains the reality of the object. The correct explanation of what Eckhart talk about is not "not thinking" but thinking without emotionally connecting with those thoughts. The emotional connection causes those hooks to appear. Its because thoughts are not individual but emotions are. The whole awareness of someone's existence is in his thought when its intuitively perceived.

Is no thoughts even possible? Personally i can't see how,, but thoughts and thinking are two very different things. I suffered badly from intrusive from thoughts for a few years but thank God they happen much much less now days 🙏. None of us can chose our thoughts but thinking about them, or not, is a choice. Practice makes perfect and the less attention we give to the intrusive thoughts the lass often they happen. Simple, but simple doesn't always = easy, but something will click and from that moment on things will get better and better and easier and easier, promise 🙏🙏🙏

Whenever I enter intense presence, as thoughts try to grab me, I say to myself 'Let Go!' I've seen so much now, I don't have pleasant thoughts 'pop' in, I get the raw real, no filter at all. It's been a rough ride but I have been granted the power to let go; the power of love without conditions, pure love. Pure love accepts all without filter. Now, envision that all is one, that includes ALL the nasty. The nasty comes to the fore and must be let go of, else one becomes a heap of uselessness. The same goes for the nice, all must be allowed to pass for one to become the peace of pure loving awareness one is. Thank you 💖

Psychology says we have over 60K thoughts per day, 95% of them subconscious.. thoughts elicit emotions (Energy in MOTION) that are habitual in nature bringing your past into your present awareness which creates your future reality and hence you have predictable patterns with predictable outcomes..
so by practicing presence and reducing the thoughts you’re no longer perpetuating past patterns into the future in the same degree but rather you are stilling your mind so that the voice of Spirit (or God, or your higher self) has an easier time getting through to you to raise your consciousness.

@senecaskater when people stop thinking they separate from the nightmare of social programming and begin to tap into Spirit or universal intelligence that has infinitely more capacity to deal with your day to day matters effectively than your puny programmed personal intellect. Presence does not negate your ability to think and function it enhances it and allows input from a higher source.. but most are too in their ego to recognize this obvious fact.. not their fault, it’s programming

    • @jamescadzow9545

@@tiuticcarefreelife974 Yes, I'm completely free of thought. Throughout my life I was never an excessive over thinker mainly because I always expressed my thoughts openly versus repressed them like most humans do. Repression is a sign of weakness and only leads to depression, expression is a sign of strength and it leads to healing and a clear lucid mind. Yes, during my process I did go through a long testing period where I would notice different humans auric fields whether they were light or dark. I can see energy and vivid colors hovering around certain human it was so intense. The dark energy fields were extremely petrified of my presence and the light energy fields wanted to spend time with me it was quite fascinating to say the least.
I had a wonderful and adventurous childhood and two amazing parents but I always migrated more towards my mother because she was always open and expressive with her feelings and thoughts. My father always repressed his thoughts and mainly kept to himself because his father taught him that way subconsciously throughtout his actions. My mother was my best friend and even though she had no clue what I was going through during my awakening she was so fastened by my daily strories. When she died I miraculously healed within 7 days from her loss, it was truly a miracle in itself how I handled the situation that I envisioned would be so dreadful. I was truly blessed to have her in my life for 45 years.
My father was my best spiritual teacher because he had the largest Ego at that time in my life. After my mother had passed his life he was in complete disarray and I did my best to help him find peace. I could see the universe put us together for a reason. Everyday our conversations became deeper and more challenging but he seemed to appreciate becoming lighter and more free of thought. He lived for another 3 years after my mother died and cried every day. This was a man who never cried until the day he lost his wife.
During our conversations and on a daily basis I can see my Ego rise to the surface and I noticed it and I was training myself how to dissolve it bit by bit. It wasn't an easy process but eventually I got through it because the universe constantly tests you in every situation so everyone around you becomes your spiritual teacher. I noticed light energy would be fascinated by me and dark energy would fear me. It's still like that to this day but not so intense.

One girl asked me what I was thinking about right now. I replied, “Nothing.” She answered back that’s impossible, because everyone is always thinking all the time. I told her I wasn’t thinking until she asked me the question. :)
When I do think about it, I was just looking out the car window as the forest of trees were going by, but that was it. I wasn’t thinking about the trees. I think it is the non-egoic, subtle thoughts Eckhart is discounting.
Either way, it is ridiculous for Eckhart to suggest he doesn't have thoughts when checking in at an airport.
Also, the bulk of his material states the opposite of what he is suggesting here. Most of his material says that thought doesn't have to negative, obsessive, nor take the place of our being identity

For example if he was in the forest and thought " i need to buy bananas when i get home" then the thought disappears... wouldn't there be a big chance he forgets to get the banana's when he gets home? 🤔

    • @markfuller
      @markfuller Рік тому +2

He means the latter. I would even question "unproductive." Some people feel they are very productive furiously ruminating, telling themselves a story about who they are, were, should've been, would've been, could've been.... if not for... and..." (building up a head of steam about everything other than this fleeting moment which is the only thing that's real (everything else is a story we tell ourselves). The question should be "is it real, is it necessary?" If it's not happening right now, then does it matter that it did happen (or may happen)? If it does matter, give it the necessary thought and then move on. If it's about retirement, ok, budget savings for retirement and then you only need to think about that occasionally. If a person thinks this way, only when necessary (about what's necessary, about what is), they'll think 90% less. Most of our thinking isn't about what needs thought, but a story we're constantly telling ourselves about who we are, were, should be, could be, would've been, if not for..." Wanting to be someone else, somewhere else, doing something else, sometime else...
It's not just the story telling, it's the believing it, feeling like this is part of reality, the experience of living in this moment. It crowds the moment into non-existence. I often think of the old Mr. Magoo cartoons. If you watch one of those, it's not about poor eyesight. It's about denial/delusion. He constantly rejects his experience preferring the movie playing in his head (his expectations for his experience). He's thinking about all the wrong stuff when he talks, expecting reality to be something it isn't (and oblivious to that disconnect).
Sam Harris describes it _"It’s as though you’ve been kidnapped by the most boring person on earth and just forced to listen to this guy all day long. Literally, the conversation starts the moment you wake up and doesn’t end until you fall helplessly asleep at night."_

But some thoughts are there to protect us, if I drove to the supermarket without thought there's a 99.9% chance I'm going to have an accident, some thoughts are necessary to prevent us being reckless.
I could get the bus and it would be perfectly safe to sit as a passenger without thoughts, of course I'd probably miss my stop!
The other thing he said about thoughts being analgous to clouds but the thing is clouds don't criticise us they don't bully us, if thoughts had no substance the way clouds have none it would be easy to ignore them.
He seems to be suggesting that thoughts can be controlled this is misleading, he said this in an older video then he had to correct himself in a later one, thoughts happen by themselves just like clouds we can't control clouds this is one similarity that is correct.
If I'm walking in a wood I still have thoughts such as how beautiful is this, listen to that bee buzzing, the wind in the trees, how beautiful are those bluebells, I'd better be careful of those cows when I come out of this wood into their field!
Thoughts are necessary and usefull as long as we remember they are a good servant but a bad master.

@@davidalbro2009 Hi David, we can't really control any thoughts because thoughts are completely self arising, if we controlled the thoughts we'd also be able to choose them, and who would choose to have thoughts of worry, fear, anger and anxiety? Thinking about the thoughts our minds produce is entirely optional, simply choose not to talk to yourself about the minds thoughts. After all what is thinking but internal dialogue and talking to ourselves about things. Just choose not to have the conversation with yourself and the mind will quickly move on from the previous unwanted thought 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I love love love Eckhart. You can say I'm a Tollist. I believe he ws a very spiritually advanced person in many lives - may have even been the 13 th century Eckhart - but didnt reach enlightenment. It happened in this life. In Buddhism we say there are four stagres towards enligfhtenment, and in each stage one loses a slew of defilements. I believe, he reached the fourth stage that day when he had his awakening. Id love to know about emotions; does he ever feel angry? I doubt it. Because that deffilement too is gone when one reaches the third stage I think. So this is his final life , lucky man. His energyh will remain as part of 'god."

Thanks to post this video in which Eckhart points 80% of time he is not thinking. So, I call it 80% rule of Eckhart Tolle and use it like a yardstick to see how I am doing. Usually, it may be 40-50% in my case whereas I remember Eckhart mentioned somewhere that Oprah is about 50%. Just yesterday due to the complex and coversome tax filing which took time, my number may have been down to 35%. :-). Using this like a gauge but maintaining the middle way is how I see myself navigating my life. Although I am ~75 years old, my interest in AI - its impact to the society (potential negativities it may bring) keeps my mind fairly busy thinking of the future of human species.
