What a fantastic voice ! She is with out doubt the queen of ska ! Just as good now as the original days of 1979 " the 2 tone era ! Great voice ! Great songs ! &10/10 in my books every time !
Quality music from a quality band. Pauline has an incredible voice after all these years and still is gorgeous. There’s nothing but joy behind those eyes and that smile. Special shout out to Arthur Hendrickson as co-lead vocals. 😍👉🏼🤎
My favourite British ska band of them all - saw them in the backroom of a proper skinhead pub in north London in their first appearance ever in London - everyone was dancing!
Saw them play in 2014 here in Christchurch, Aotearoa/NZ and it was a joyfest. Got talking to Pauline for a few minutes. She is everything as lovely as she appears. Gracious, friendly, happy to chat and just puts out so much great energy. Not that I want to take anything away from Gaps and others and especially not Neol Davies but Pauline Black's voice is the thing that makes The Selecter immediately recognisable. She's a tiny dynamo of a woman.
How the ffff can people listen to this and SIT there not moving a muscle?? On My Radio and Too Much Pressure would raise the dead and get em skanking. And, damn, doesn't Pauline still look so fine? Plus her voice still has that gorgeous, sexy huskiness. Incredible.
Brilliant Ska Band! Have not lost one step! Still as intense as ever! Unreal! That’s how you do it! And Too Much Pressure could be the Anthem for 2020!
@@bobly If only Ranking Roger was alive to bring back 'The Beat'. Oh wait, forgot about Dave Wakeling. Saw both versions of the band play over the years, and both were polished, energetic, fun and absolutely tight as a nut. For some reason though, Roger's version edges Dave's out. That being said, together they were fantastic and now they can never resolve their differences for a reunion gig showing what two tone is all about.
Guitar guy's doing a great job here, Respect. I think it could've been me up there instead, though lol...🤔😄 cos, around six years ago I got a call from Aitch asking if I'd play guitar. I was already playing guitars for a band Black Canvas (Soul/ Dub Dance hall) so i guess someone from that circle of musicians kindly suggested me...🤷🏻♂️ but it was gonna clash with a date BC already had booked. And I seriously was looking forward to hittin my local town with this Reggae/Rock/Soul thing I was involved in. I (reluctantly) declined, but that looks a scream up there, with those guy's...! Seriously the guitarist who's playing here, is doing the business. He's perfect really. Seems to put the right energy into it, looks the part too,, and has a cooler guitar than me... the guy's cooler than me full stop 😅 so they are lucky to have him however, (and there is a 'however'😬😛 ) I think I just have the edge on his playing...(I'm a guitarist, of course I'm gonna say that🤣) don't get me wrong though, I like this guy, and I like his playing, and if it'd been me, it wouldn't have been the same. He fits. Obviously the bass player's makin it happen, too... and that's what matters. My playing might have been slightly more 'there' but would it have been the right kinda 'there'...hmm that's the question ain't it...🤔 And (I probably don't hear you ask lol) was the loyalty which I pledged to my other band, 'honoured'..? well...basically... was it fuck 🤣🤣 The whole band stood me up.... and I jammed/improvised the 45m slot on guitar myself... with the drummer from another band I was playing (bass) with, who were there waiting to play later, on the same bill (Stroud Fringe) Can you believe that tho..? No, neither could I....😳😂 anyway, the performance later with the other band (Dustmites) was fantastic. Probably one of our best shows (Originals/covers 'Doors', Alman Bros, The Who etc) which kinda made up for it. There was a reason why I got a call, I'm very good. (bass/guitar) but this guy's great. I love his guitar too, whatever it is 😎❤
They were fantastic in Glasgow on the Friday night with the Beat, both on terrific form, what a night 😃 Love Pauline n have been a fan since the original days.
Love it so much 😎❤ all the way. Pauline has so much energie and soul, a lovely and cool woman. Keep the Music, the Ska and the Love alive. Dance on and on and Peace ✌ Greetings From Moe from Kiel City. 🎶🎼🏁
Such better video work compared to their 1980s videos. Back then the cameramen figured if the performers were jumping then they should also. Nope. Impressed how well her voice has held up! I notice her accent has changed to mid Atlantic.
Absolutely fantastic Pauline, you and your band are superb, so much energy from all of you, hope I may get a chance to see you live, are you appearing down south ( UK ) anytime soon ? x
Given the overuse of auto tune these days, I doubt many at the top of the current charts could pull this off. This standard of live performance is becoming rarer and rarer
saw them on a double bill with the Beat at the Old Granada Studios Manchester 2016. Well you know, what was actually left of the bands, The Beat was just Ranking Rodger really and as said previously, can it really be The Selector without Noel on his 12 string?
Pauline Black really is the Queen of Ska music 💖💖
Shes a beauty this lady x
Belinda*
Yeaaah ❤Pauline My Favoirite Ska Woman ..Greetings from Upper Silesia South West Poland Autonomic old school area
With a surname like that, she could get arrested. Well at least where I live. What's wrong with being born black, surname-wise?
i was mad for the selecter when i was 13 still great now at 53

No Gaps...No Selecter. I am gutted.
Still the first lady of ska and what an abso f*****g lutely time to be a teenager it was back in the day!!!
Better than 99.99% of the crap music out there today.
Cannot fucking be happy about how great a song is without being an old fart?
@@stimouthyouks1086 i got ya.. but he is kinda 99% right 😂😂😂
You said it. Dang. I must be old. "Those dang kids and their horrible music! Get off my lawn!"
@@vernonzehr I got the same vibe lol, this is good music, how it immediately means shitting on other genres isn't something I'll understand.
Now that's how we do it kids, Damn that was bad ass!

orginal was 140 bpm, this versions running at over 155bpm - and still the vocal is so super sweet. Respect!
Real music with real people. A fantastic performance and the sound was amazing...
Yes. Not just about her as a personality but the band and the music in its entirety.
How can this not make you happy and energized.
- Take a bow Pauline what a lady - Grace and style!
