Same exact problem with molding the tub in the exact same spot. I’m going to try your suggestion of raising the temp. Thank you so much. Been struggling with this and going crazy trying to get the right fit. That spot it hits hurts so much.
Sorry to hear that sir! Have faith my shoes are super comfortable on my longer rides of 6-9 hours thank you for watching and thank you for posting a comment!
@@odmods I ended up making it work but it takes a lot more force than you think at that specific spot. I ended up increasing the temperature as well to get them more flexible but you really have to pull them at that spot immediately when you get them out of the oven. I called lake and they told me to use a blunt object to force the shape at that spot but once they are a little warmer you can do it with you hands just don’t be afraid to use more force than in other spots. Once you get it molded they are super comfortable.
I got a pair of these shoes on clearance (around 40% off). Apparently, the lizard green wasn't a big hit. It wasn't a hit with me either. I dyed them black. But as far as getting these shoes to fit, it's been a long road. And along that road I repeatedly broke EVERY rule that Lake has for how to heat mold these things. But probably 20 mold sessions later, I think I finally have them sorted out. I started out being very careful about measuring my foot per the Lake instructions, and watching your video on it. So I can't fault my initial sizing. I just had a heck of a time getting the carbon bathtub to not bother the outside edge of each foot, about halfway back. And unclipping put pressure right on that sore spot. I stopped putting them in the oven after around the 5th or 6th attempt. After that I broke the "no heat gun" rule, many times. I'm no stranger to heat guns and epoxy, and being careful I didn't ruin them. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone attempting to measure and mold them themselves. If you want them, you should buy them from a full-service dealer such as George with much experience in sizing and forming them.
Loving how you are matching colors on helmet and shoe! Awesome! BTW, the weight comparison was kind of unfair as lake has lighter weight focused one as well vs this type of shoes. I currently have LAKE CX331 (old.. I know...) which weights like CX403... and CX301 which weights less than 200g I think.
Hello Jin! I'm kind of dorky that way (matching shoes with helmets). Weight is just a thing I do on my channels for people who like to see them. But honestly I worry more about the fit and function of a component or cycling shoe in this case. Thank you for watching!!

If after measuring your foot length wearing your cycling socks and then adding 5mm as Lake says to do and the number is 1-2 mm less than the top number in that particular shoe size range, would you order the shoe within that range or go a half. size up ?? What did you do?? Thanks
I just received the CX332 today in EU50 (313-315) Wide (118.9) my feet measured 310 L + 5 x 112 W . My concern is that shoe is very comfortable, but should the show width be roomy on the width ? is an extra 6.9mm consider too much room in your opinion?
I'm not sure how I can help you Sabian. If you're in doubt that you have too much room then there's your answer ... you have too much room. Personally I don' t like too much play in my shoes but this is a question you need to answer for yourself. I appreciate you watching and I appreciate you taking the time to post a comment. 🙂
Yes but you are not pushing the toes forward. You are just putting your finger in your heel and you should still have a room in the toe. thanks for watching please consider subscribing.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad when walking around and cycling my heel of the shoe is moving up and down and feels very sloppy. I can put a finger back there when I push toes all the way forward. I ordered a half size down i hope these don’t slip as much
it’s not a scientific or perfect method so go with what you think is best. FYI walking around in cycling shoes puts forces on the shoe that are not felt while pedaling. In other words it can give you false impressions.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad yea true. Even when pedaling mine currently feel sloppy in the rear with heel slipping. Hoping the new set half size down fixes it! Also, can you please tell me what temp/time you arrived at for your molding? I understand that you’re not formally recommending anything but for the sake of conversation can you share that? Thanks man.
Great review, curious though, do you still ride Bont's anymore? If no, how come. For road shoes, I go back and forth between Bont's and Lake's, still can decide which one feels the best.
Hello Lisa! Where have you been? I missed hearing from you lol! I don't ride the Bont shoes any longer. At the time I got them 15+ years ago the heel pads were not replaceable and eventually the carbon on the heel cracked and that was that. I am really liking the Lake CX403 shoes. In fact, I just bought another pair and need to do a follow-up video. The Bont shoes were too stiff in the upper for my liking. I am sure they are different by now. Good to hear from you!
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad HI! I'm still here, been training more for next years ALC ride, so trying to climb 😩. I have an old pair of Bont A- two, that I bought in 2012, didn't like them and put them away, now I like them. I like how they are cut lower around the ankle then my Sidi's are, haven't worn them outside though, so it might be a different story. I have the cut little Lake lace up shoes, I did a bit of custom paint work on them, light blue is not my color hahha. I like them, comfortable shoe. I figure I will wear mtb shoes for the ALC ride, make life easier at rest stops, and if I have to walk anywhere, like up a hill ( sure hope not). Looking forward to more videos!
