Princess Diana looked fabulous, but "revenge" was basically assuming her Charles cared, which he did not. They had zilch in common, and it was a massive missalliance, as we all know.

But I think the expression "Looking good is the best revenge" applies to this situation. If Prince Charles didn't care, others seeing Diana on that evening in that dress were probably thinking what a fool Charles was to let her go.
