You make it look so simple. But you have a wonderful thing going on.I thank you for sharing. I really wanna try to grow micro.Greens that's why i'm looking at the video
I very much like what you are doing, and giving the cattle fresh feed in winter has got to be very popular with them -as well as providing a health boost. Have you looked into the nutritional profile and feed yield calculations compared to dry weight feed? I would love to hear about that if you have looked at it. That is what most hardheaded farmers I know would ask me immediately.
We have a fodder unit on a trailer, so it’s movable, just needs water & electricity. Here in Texas we use wheat berries, since barley isn’t readily available. My cows love the wheat biscuits. I put a little bleach in the water that wheat is soaked in and a little bit in the water tank that automatically sprays on the trays of pre-soaked wheat berries, to help control the mold growth. It’s a little labor intensive, but it’s 68 degrees inside the trailer, so it’s comfortable working inside, especially during the hot Texas summers.
very interessting and informative. thanks for additional the tips and tricks. I have a few questions tho. 1. why you only let it grow for about a week? Wouldn't be the harvest bigger after a longer period? 2. you didn't mentioned the lighting. I couldn't spot grow lights or did i just miss them? 3. somebody needs to grow the barley before, so you can have the grains for the fodder, right? I can imagine for such a short growing period and many series there are a lot of grain used. So do you think, there is a benefit in the whole process in a holistic perspective? 4. I would expect the installment costs and the fix cost for running that system are a factor to count in. Would you say, that the technical approach is still worth it? I mean in contrast, to just have the cattle on a ranch and feed mostly hay in winter season?
03:30 that cleaning step can be automated, have some high power nuzzles on the bottom of the rack below and have some industrial grade tubing going to a tank holding some fungicide that is biodegradeble and that waste wouldn't be a problem for your water upcycling
Thanks for the great information, Can you provide me with answers to three of my questions. Do you put a vitamin in the water ? What is the result with the milking cow, is it good for them ? Do you have a laboratory result of the nutrition that the hydroponic barley producing? Thanks in advance Best regards Asbed
Hi from north Mexico where we have low water years sometimes. 1. Vitamins aren’t necessary, although I can be more nutritious than without it, but it and necessary because we don’t give enough time to the seed to fully mature/grow 2. I live where lots of Mennonite people fed their dairy cows with barley or corn/maíz hydroponic, they had seen an increase of milk production but they stoped feeding them with hydroponic because the cows had diarrhea (which I think it’s normal when you switch diets) 3. In internet there are many lab studios about the nutrients in barley, corn, hay, sorgo, alfalfa, most of Americans have barley or corn, here in Chihuahua we use corn (hot seasons) and trigo (winter season) Hope it helps you
How would you deal with mold for a fodder system for rabbits ? Im unsure if cows can eat mold but I know Rabbits cant sadly. Does Mold on the side of the metal tray not contaminate the whole batch ?
Hello, dear friend, can you please guide me, what is the reason for the rapid growth of fodder, I would like to learn this method well, please guide me.
Very interesting process…I had no idea that farmers grow grass (fodder) in this way. I guess your farm has found this technique, more cost efficient than feeding hay ?
Hi, I’ve been looking for information to sell hidroponic, no information yet because no body sells it, but in number here in Chihuahua, each 1 kg of corn seed cost 4.20 pesos and you harvest from it 10 kg with have nearly 15% proteins (with is what we look for) you can sell it (in Chihuahua) 150 pesos at least, so your profit it’s 100 pesos each 1 kg of seed, you have to consider the regional market where you are
I wonder what the weight gain per day is using one of these fodders, i think it will vary depending on what you are growing. If anyone has any info on this please share
It called sprouting or sprouts. You need to change how you have your setup, your should be water from the front (open side) and let the water run to the back and have it drain from that side..
When I raised two to five hundred pounds of green folder a week, I wanted to reduce extra labor and not create more labor. I got a bad load of hay I contracted for and I used the green fodder I produced for a top dressing. We had at the time meat goats, poultry, sheep, cattle both beef and dairy (Jerseys) when the barley prices spiked in western Canada we looked for other affordable seed grains to sprout to use as green sprouted feed. We were located in California so hay prices are normally high. We were looking for affordable feed options for our livestock during an extreme drought. 1998 to 2008.
I dont see how this will ever be cheaper than hay and pasture. Cows/ruminants have been on pasture for thousands of years. I guess its better than corn.
Isn't it impossible for fodder to multiply nutritional value and calories etc?? You aren't adding anything to the seeds other than water. So you are increasing bulk when they incorporate water, but not nutrition in any way??? You can't get something from nothing.
Oh hell no, talk about labor intensive. If you take your bottom line put in your pocket money and divide your hours your probably making 50 cents an hour. I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

YES!!! That's exactly her name (BRISA RICHARDSON ) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺
I just saw an African man doing this with way less equipment and he was much cleaner than you and you never cleaned those trays. There’s still more mould in them.
Very professional! & inspirational. Thank you!
Nice setup!

Hi, it's very good. It's very good. Please, if you can, give us a complete training so that we can do this system well. Thank you for your kindness.

is the bleach in the water toxic to the cows and then to the person eating the cow ?

Hi, thanks for sharing! Really nice work. I was wondering about the trays: are they custom-made? Is the material PVC? Thanks!
They are PVC NFT channels. Google NFT Channel and you will see exactly what they are using.

Well they could at least brush the mold off the sides and then wash out the not germinated seeds. This would reduce washing out the trays twice.
What does your system use to provide heating? What is the temperature control temperature?
Nice- question do you all use lighting or just keep the barn light on.
when you say 90% less water, did you accounted for the water used to clean?
Very cool system.
Great video where we can buy that kind of trays? Like whole sets thanks God bless

Great explanation
How many people operate this system?
Hi, what is thickness of the grains when you just pour a new batch? I mean, how thick it need to be speeded out?
I AM TURK VERY PERFECT THANKS
What brand of equipment do use to grow your fodder
i try to calculate the cost of this fodder and got some BIG numbers. Good food. Costly. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. Nice process. How many animals are you feeding?
How sq. Ft. Is your grow space?
Can you tell us where or who you got the system from?
what a beautiful lady and very cool system

How would you deal with mold for a fodder system for rabbits ? Im unsure if cows can eat mold but I know Rabbits cant sadly. Does Mold on the side of the metal tray not contaminate the whole batch ?
Hi! What's the output ratio to grains? Approximately
Atleast 4x
Perhaps hydrogen peroxide could be used to help mitigate the mold.
White vinegar
@@noezito8does that work and how much would you pour in a 5 gallon bucket?

Do you Feed the cows only Hydroponic fodder?
If Not hoch much percent of Hydroponic fodder.
Thank you
I have a question about temperature. It seems to be the biggest problem for me here in southern AZ. what temp more or less is that grow room?
for barley 18 to 25, 23 C is ideal, for maize hydroponic fodder 30-35C

What is that seed name?
Too lessen the mold try and incorporate a chlorine dioxide water treatment system to the irrigation water.
It called sprouting or sprouts.

It may not be cheaper nor less effort, but it seem like it is more healthier for the ruminants as oppose feeding them grain. Less inflammation I think
Ok zer gut
it looks so good i want a bite :o
Isn't it impossible for fodder to multiply nutritional value and calories etc?? You aren't adding anything to the seeds other than water. So you are increasing bulk when they incorporate water, but not nutrition in any way??? You can't get something from nothing.
My guess is that through utilization of photosynthesis. The plants are converting c02 and sunlight, which is the cause for increase in energy.
@@jdotmay but there isn't any meaningful photosynthesis during sprouting.
research states the actual feed if u exclude the water - reduces by 15% hence please understand more details before you invest in this
