This story is so beautiful and larger then life and there is LITERALLY NOTHING I can say that already hasn't been said and I can't think of anything new because this series just has me so absolutely star struck that I'm at a loss for words!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
Really love how James Gunn is giving spotlight to the stories and comics that are inspiring their live action adaptations in the DCU and All Star Superman is one of my favourite Superman stories/comics in general. The panel of Superman stopping that girl from taking her own life always stixks to me, especially as someone who has suffered from suicidal depression and recovered yet still tackle mental health problems to this day, but truthfully that image gave me an epiphany jn live to seek the emotional aid, support and love of my family and friends to finally get help which I am eternally grateful. Superman saved me and its why he's one of my favourite fictional characters
The mix of overview and comic dub is a wonderful mix. Something I used to do before switching to just motion comics This was fantastic bro truly awesome!
I don't really giving two shits about Superman Legacy or the superhero movies/tv shows nowadays, but my god All-Star Superman is such a beautiful comic books that i'd glady revisit it very often, as well as the mini-series WE3 which's done by the same creative team of All-Star Superman.
When I was younger I was pretty dismissive of Superman. I was one of those who thought he was boring. Then at a library back in my home town, it had the All-Star Superman book. I checked it out and read it. I thought it was good so far, then i get to the Reagan scene. Seeing that page, left me crying and I still cry everytime I get to that part. That one page got me to finally respect Superman as a character. I made this quote in 2 videos, and I feel it's appropriate to say it here: *He's strong enough to break the planet, but compassionate enough to tell a girl who's lost all hope that she has strength.*
Another great commentary under the belt! Your choice of where to summarise and where to just dub over are seemless and were really immersive where it mattered
You know while watching you read this I can't help but think this is TRULY a product of it's time concerning that early Superman and Lois "plot" earlier.... But besides that, I don't know much about this series but i think 58:09 is famous enough that even if you dislike Superman for whatever reason you MUST put respect on this scene. It tears me up everytime because Superman is dying, got all this shit going on and the love of his life just found out that he's dying but he can't stay and talk about it because he knows in the time he has left that he's Superman and this kid needed his help so he took the time to talk her down. What an amazing scene this is.
Such a great book, it's honestly one of the only "must read" comics I recommend to newer readers. Also it was great to meet you at the con in September!!
I still think Man Of Steel was literally just a 1 off film like Constantine but Warner Bros pushed for it to be the start of the DCEU, how wrong they were lol.
Love that shirt. Does it come with the patina? I used to fantasize that the DCEU would end with Henry Cavill in Superman 2 based on All-Star Superman which is definitely about a mature Superman and his definite death. Very odd choice to start a cinematic universe. I'm holding my breath for - what I heard is called - the Peacemakerverse.
Yeah I forgot how shallow Lois can be sometimes, especially during the Silver Age that why I prefer modern adaptations that depict her more in love with Clark Kent, than as Superman, though still has a fixation with Superman, which I personally think adds a deeper layer to their love story over the decades
Wait a sec. 10:12. So what, she thought Clark and Superman were in some sort of "relationship"? I bet she's relieved to find out they both like girls. They don't write comics like they used to.
Your videos are starting to get a little confusing due to the lack of verbal transition between screens. Not sure if you cut that kind of thing for time but it really is helpful.
Can you do a video on marvel ultimate comics x and ultimate comics X men ,No one really talks about those comics and I would like for you to do it someday.
1:17:55 honestly i found the idea overrated as heck ..or at the very least i think it try so simplify something that aint simple and the nuance of it get lost in process. everyone has and ideal self and every power structure trying to control the stories and narratives that define our understanding of reallity are constantly trying to sell you their own idea of their super tomorrow..the super brand .. the super country.. and ultimately.. it just end up becoming a way of loosing or own agency by focusing to much in what exterior factors are trying sell us instead of focusing in our own small world where we do have agency.
All star Batman is equally an inspiring story, it inspires me to write a better story than that and to be normal.
It inspires me to ask what the fuck is wrong with Frank
it was one of the comic runs of all time
@@akiraeatsguitarpicks491Heavy drugs
It was a lot better than all star bat man and Robin but that’s like saying something is prettier than a blob fish
Great stuff

Wow! Russian Comic you are here as well 🤗
Absolutely love your channel.
@@RahulSharma-wq4qy thanks bro 🤙
Here’s hoping you’ll do another Certified Morrison Classic, Animal Man. More people need to know about that book
@nickwilson5774 *theirs but yeah I feel like Smokey’s work would be right up their alley
54:48 Superman: Wins by doing absolutely nothing.
Blake, your Videos always cheer up my walk home from a night out partying! Thank you for your work

The Flex Mentallo miniseries is also a Frank Quietly/Grant Morrison collaboration.
And We3!
Another great commentary under the belt! Your choice of where to summarise and where to just dub over are seemless and were really immersive where it mattered
Man, I love these videos! Fantastic job!
All star Superman is really awesome story and freaking fantastic in my opinion.
39:30 Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, that hurts and explains the point in all this.

I just love that singing section. Fucking hilarious. Thanks for these incredible stories you cover.

10:38 Batman must be FUMING.
Absolutely fantastic presentation of an absolutely fantastic story.
56:30 Oh God.... it's the Nail isn't it?!??!? NOPE NOPE NOPE. Fuck that shit!
The fact that all star Batman And all star Superman are so different they are basically polar opposites is so funny
Beautiful adaptation! Thank you
so good at the voices. thank youuuu

Doing homework before the movie
Superman isn't outdated. He's timeless .
Good stuff man
Lois was acting way weirder than I remembered in this comic.
Yeah I forgot how shallow Lois can be sometimes, especially during the Silver Age that why I prefer modern adaptations that depict her more in love with Clark Kent, than as Superman, though still has a fixation with Superman, which I personally think adds a deeper layer to their love story over the decades
35:10 Is this flashback really necessary?
Great shirt!
I've always wondered if it was intentional by Grant Morrison to have A.S.S. as the acronym of this title ;p LOL
Sad but amazing
The singular flaw in All Star Superman is it’s version of Lois Lane. She really sucks.
Well she’s supposed to be like the Silver Age Lois. You know, the annoying, black face doing, barely a character reporter
Thank God for post-crisis Superman.
Wait a sec. 10:12. So what, she thought Clark and Superman were in some sort of "relationship"?
I bet she's relieved to find out they both like girls.
They don't write comics like they used to.
Who ever is playing Lois, this is not working. It is too obvious Smokey is carrying the emotional weight. Great effort though.
Damn just damn

You have big beard
It's funny that All-Star Superman is on the best comics of all time but All-Star Batman is one of the worst a classic story of yin and yang.
All-Star Batman is actually pretty good! You mean All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder!
@@Imantyk that's exactly what I meant
Why is all star Batman’s batarang so long?
That was amazing thank you 🎉😂😊
I think the suit has to be flesicher suit or something old school prior to the silver age redesign which everybody knows
Bro I love ur videos
🎉🎉🎉
2:13 what comic is this ?
I think it’s art from non existent comic…
This Lois is such an entitled unsympathetic one

Still the greatest superman story
id argue dominus effect felt better but usually put them on same term
The Lois lane voice sounds like an 8yr old girl
Next time please clean your beard before filming, ok? Would make your videos so much more enjoyable...
