Help Ohio, please. Ohio has gerrymanded nearly all higher minority areas to pull high white converative voters into the higher minority areas. It's extremely easy to see this for Columbus and Cleveland, but may also be thevsame for Dayton, Toledo and Cinninnati. I don't know the higher majority areas in the later 3, but know each area has minority areas that may be gerrymandered by race.
I tried to purchase a home (or three) in Dayton in 2019 I believe, and was surprised with the reaction. I have been to Columbus, Ohio and felt absolutely no discrimination when I went to Pastor Rod Parsley's church about 25 years ago.
Judge Kagan, Your Honor (s). Gerrymandering itself seems to be Unconstitutional, because we are not supposed to discriminate on the basis of race and other factors. This is spilling into the public sphere in an overtly polarizing way.
Your Honors, President Obama was quoted in a Washington Post article as saying, during his Inauguration speech, "In his State of the Union speech, President Obama called on lawmakers and the public to take a number of steps "to change the system to reflect our better selves" for "a better politics." The top item on that list was to end partisan gerrymandering: "we have to end the practice of drawing our congressional districts so that politicians can pick their voters, and not the other way around," Obama said."
Your Honors, Were the maps based on socioeconomic fatctors? I agree Justice Sotomayor that race does seem to be factored in, but if the Black belt is only 56 percent Black, it appears that area would probably be more inclined to benefit Independents over Democrats or Republicans.
No one is hared on account of race? Neutral? There were people who didn't want to supply voters in long lines where it's hot water to dissuade people from voting.
Is it race or the way people act? There are communities who look White, but identity as Black. Your honors, I was under the impression that all voters are human beings. What exactly is "race neutral"? .
Judge Jackson, is a race blind algorithm effective when they don't reflect the overall zeitgeist of the population? If we haven't unlearned racism as a society, how is an algorithm going to be effective?
Judge Jackson, I agree that race has infused the voting system, but how are we to deal with the issue of segregation in this as yet United States of America? We face the perpetuation of the mental segregation of America.
Sir, you mentioned Post Hoc. The Constitution is clearly an example of Post Hoc Ergo Poster Hoc, which is why we are both arguing our pisitions before The Court and have amendments to the Constitution as we pursue our Constitution's Preamble of "a more perfect union". en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Post_hoc_ergo_propter_hoc Post hoc ergo propter hoc - Wikipedia Post hoc ergo propter hoc ( Latin: 'after this, therefore because of this') is an informal fallacy that states: "Since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X." It is often shortened simply to post hoc fallacy.
