- Blade is Yunli's uncle because he was adopted by General Huaiyan, Yunli's grandfather. This makes Blade her uncle, though not by blood. However, they have never met. Yunli was just a child when Blade was adopted by Huaiyan. This is likely why Yan Qing was upset when Jing Yuan tried to arrange a match between them. He might have known that Yunli is Blade's niece and, given that Blade is a fugitive, he might have also been aware of the consequences if he were to hurt Yunli.

Where does it talk about Blade being adopted? I couldn't find him being described as anything besides an attendant or apprentice.

I thought the same thing- blade is ATLEAST over 700, considering the timeline of events, Yunli couldn't possibly be a child when blade was adopted.

@@Darkos88 Perhaps, I don't doubt that they'd have been close or that Huaiyan would be a role model and father figure, but for the relationship to be deeply familial enough that it would extend to Yingxing and Yunli being considered as family is what I doubt, I'll have to go looking for other similar master-disciple relationships in the Xianzhou when I get a chance

Jingyuan is such an asian parent for attempting to matchmake his son.
he trained under huaiyan, so similiar to Yanqing being Jing Yuan's vassal (not quite as close as Jing Yuan and Yanqing since they're basically actually family and we don't fully know how close Yingxing was to his master) but tbf they all probably he died since he was a short lived species. im not so sure how much Jing Yuan disclosed of the crimes he committed with Dan Feng and about his immortality. It's likely he didn't mention anything and we'll get a touching moment where they reunite and then the horror on huaiyan's face when he sees what yingxing became.
