That's all fine and dandy, but what do you do about the check engine light? When it comes on cause it's not getting feedback from The original. Computer control fan clutch, That fan clutch gives you a feedback reading and it'll turn the check engine line on, if you try to eliminate it. So if you have a trick for that, that'd be awesome
I live in Wyoming. And while I can see myself doing the water pump upgrade the 7.3 clutch upgrade I won't do as I need the heat in the winter that the 7.3 clutch will take away.
If you guys do these upgrades, please pull out your stock radiator at the same time. I dropped a Mishimoto all aluminum radiator in and it made a world of difference. I also vented my hood at the same time and can tow heavy uphill in the summer now. I put water meth on and it keeps my EGT'S much lower...
I just bought a 2005 F350 6.0 powerstroke and it looks and sounds great. This does have the BP studs but for some reason I'm overheating especially going up steep grade. This truck is tuned and deleted also. I have no white smoke ever so I doubt it's the BP studs and headgasket but I am currently driving from WA to Tenn and I have had to refill the coolant reservoir about 5 time from overheating? This coolant is boiling and I can't see the leak as its being sprayed everywhere through the cap. Do you think this would fix this issue?
Will the 7.3 fan clutch come on in stop and go traffic. And what actually actuats the 7.3 fan clutch? I have heard stories like the on up above where it didn't come on when they needed it to?!?
It's a mechanical actuator rather than electronic. The 7.3L-style fan clutch does come on more quickly and stay on longer than the 6.0L/electronic version. We have found it to work well, even in traffic.
It does not cause the check engine light to illuminate. When the factory fan clutch is unplugged and this setup is installed, there will be two soft codes stored, one for fan speed and one for fan circuit. These soft codes will not cause the check engine light to set.

6.0 Fan clutch are also prone to failure due to its Electronic design and also make the Engine run much hotter. The 7.3 fan clutch engages more often and more completely to keep it cooler. The 6.0 electronic fan clutch has a connector that has been know to be cut by the fan itself and will overheat.
If installed correctly, 6.0 fan clutches can be very reliable. Also, a 6.0 fan clutch is controlled by the pcm, and with good custom tunes, can cool more precisely.

Do you just spin the fan clutch back on and it tightens itself?
Yep, the video shows the whole install process!

Yes, we cover the opening of the connector (to keep our debris) and then tuck it back, away from the shroud.
