Chappers these old videos you have on here are my favorite. We are a lot alike. You're better at guitar, I'm better at making coffee and have cooler swords. Keep on rocking homie.
Loving that volume swell bit you did! Yet another fun video, cheers!
I don't know what it is about you Chappers but you make guitar look easy, I didn't start learning lead until I started watching you a littler over 3 years ago and just watching you play and watching the lessons you have up here has improved my technique. I am self taught so I have a lot of bad habits but I haven't had so much fun watching guitar videos since I started watching Gary Moore about 10 years ago when I first picked up a guitar. Thank you.
i prefer this type of posts, instead of just gear reviews. definitely one of my favourite channels. never fail to make my day :)
Awsome playing Chappers!
Chappers must be a successful musician. So much food in that fridge. ;) Cheers from the States mate. Love your videos.
Aaah!!! The Dark Terror! I heard your advice and i bought one! Best purchase so far! You've turned me into an Orange Maniac! I use a Tiny Terror for the cleans and this monster for the rest! Awesome combination! Greetings from Greece!
Thanks for the tips. I am practicing as much as I can to help improve this problem.
Fantastic camera angle from 7:00 onwards... amazing insight. Surprising how far your fingers come off the fretboard actually.
Keep up the good work Chappers!
Great video dude. Thanks.
Chappers, you are cool. And even cooler that you're looking at the Zilla Cabs website that I built for them :)
I Fucking love your videos! I can watch it all day! you are the man
I like how you almost kept my settings on the Flashback, Rob!
That delay tone with the palm muted chord.... Beautiful.
I lol'ed so much when he put the phone in the drawer! :P
How does the headband effect his tone?
Idk why but this comment made me laugh harder than it shouldve!!
It stops the guitar from ringing out.
manbrojoho The headband on his head, not the guitar lol
Jordan Parent Well that gives him a bit more controlled high frequencies.
lachlan pilgrim has to be battery powered and masking taped together for that authentic chappers hair
How does a day for him last only 9 minutes, he must get old really fast.
TBH, he does... he's only 41 but looks 50 now...
Lovin the satriani-esque tone from about the 7 minute mark
Rob man, i can only hope someday my life is as epic as yours. and i honestly mean that. sorry about all the bad news coming at you lately. best of luck to you mate!
Love you stuff Rob only youtube seems very 'selective' it won't allow me to like from my other channel rockittees and allows me to make comments and stuff from this one I don't know mabe it's settings or something but this was very enjoyable! Thanks!
Hey Rob awesome video as always! Do you put all your effects through the front of your amp because I noticed the reverb and delay sounded quite clear, almost as if they were going through an effects loop. How do you set up your effects to go to the amp? Thanks Rob and hope all is well!
One of my highlights from 2012!
That breakfast looked fantastic!
Love "Tree of Life" man, reminds me loads of Soundgarden :)
Damn that phone bill's gonna be high if he forgets about it :D Haha that's a brill vid chappers!
I'm glad to see at least someone there (in UK) that prefers coffee to tea! :D
I lost it when he put the phone in the draw.
Hey mate! Nice video! Can I ask what Wah your using on your board? It's got an awesome sweep, sounds great!
Chaps, nice videos mate, awesome material and the humour keeps me entertained :D
I have a question, bit unpolite to ask on a different channel, but Andertons has some amazing instruments i liked, i added to cart, and shipping to Norway only cost 20 £, this weirds me out, it`s far too cheap shipping for this to be legit, or is it? :O
Oh mate, I have only just found out about them.... I can't wait to get my mitts on one!
I think it might be the most interesting thing to happen with Guitar amps for about 15 years lol!
Awesome video dude. You reckon you could do a video of the Joe Satriani Signature JVM?
you guys on that island know how to enjoy a morning with delicious breakfast ;)
Your videos make me inspired when all else has failed
Love your videos! What's the name of the song playing on the first part of the video?? Love it!
cool vid chappers :D
Thanks for the tips man. Your right sometimes the sliding noise is cool, but it's the times that you don't want it too. I know what your saying with the muting, but I guess I just need to practice more with that. cuz when it's hard to mute when your moving up and down the neck super fast. and it's mostly the power chords with 6th string roots that my problem is the worst. but thank again man
You've come a long way since this
hey rob i was wondering wat camera you use for all of your vids i love the quality
I like the distorted delay sound....sounds like NEAL SCHON!!!
no word of a lie Chappers I still get musicgasms over the bridge of Mantra of the Monkey Lord. Thank you sir
also epic steve vai moments rob ;)
loved the phone in the drawer! phone solicitor?
You were makin me hungry w the eggs and shrooms but the tomatoes ruined it lol!
Hey Rob, sorry to hear about Monkeyfest being pulled. At a push, couldnt it be put on in some improvised form say at the local village hall? Just to keep the momentum going? Or was it really a case of all avenues exhausted?
What chorus pedal do you use Chappers? Great video!
You may want to consider double glazing. The condensation on those windows indicates energy loss when heating and cooling. That is costing you.
How do you get that middle eastern sound at 5.30? Sounds so good!
I love that he has a Skyrim map at 0:45
This was so much fun, eventhough nothing really happend, but do fix your garden
what does the dual headband do for the hair ?
@dmike03 Hi, yeah it's to do with right hand muting... Try covering/muting the strings with your right hand as you slide the left :-)
make more of this please rob?
LOL! just saw the end!! dang!
the playing from 5:00 onwards is incredible, would sound fantastic infront of a wembley sized stadium
Anybody else laughed at the part when chappers put the phone in the drawer?? XD haha
I honestly have learned a great deal from Mr Chappers, and he is a fine guitarist and personality (youtube stylee) BUT I do wish he would get back to what we all love about him, his playing and demo's and lessons etc....
Hey Rob. Can you please help me by letting me know which one of the follow is best on the basis of both feel and sound:
1) POD HD Pro
2) Rocktron Prophesy 2
3) Boss GT Pro
4) Avid Eleven Rack
Also, on which parameters does the Axe Fx2 shine over the Avid Eleven rack. I would have loved to get all these answers by myself, had i got an opportunity to try all of these units here in India, so your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
thumbs up for skyrim map on the wall!
I have no idea why, but when you put the phone in the drawer I found it hillarious.
"Tree of life" By Rob Chapman from the album Bare Bones on iTunes ;-)
Old Mrs.Chapman:-"Are you a musician?"
Rob:-"...I'am a musician yea..."
Thats's a sad one.
I don't think that was the former Mrs Chapman.
I've got some ml1 shred similar to this video!
Hi Rob ! :) Can you tell me what distortion pedal do you use to get such awesome tones like that please ? Thanks :p
What amp is under the Dark Terror? Loving the flame maple cabinet.
4:40 ... lovely !!!
\m/
A day in the life of Rob Chappers is only 9 minutes. He ages 160 human years in a typical 24 hour period. During ancient times and the great flood he had to tread water for the equivalent of 6400 years. He hasn't bathed since. He plays guitar so well because he had a lot of practice playing hollowed out gourds with strings strecthed across them. In the time It to me to type this he had already outlved most of the people on youtube.
Ummm that breakfast at 2:17 looked so fucking good that I went upstairs to the kitchen and made it myself :) lol
I just watched your video on clean technique and I was wondering if with the "hole" you only mute the strings when you are sustaining a note and not when you are picking notes?
Dragged a comb across my head! By Lennon & McCartney :-) So, you put the string lube/cleaner on your fingertips & not the strings. I guess it lasts longer that way??
What do you think about the New Kemper Profiler?
love your headband where can i get one ?????
Off topic, but that breakfast looks delicious! Any chance at getting the recipe?
@RoathRipper I'm sorry, I just don't have the crew, time or money to make it work in any form this year. I know it must be frustrating not knowing the reasons why, but please trust me when I say that it will happen in 2013 and momentum will never be an issue for me. A great change needed to occur in my kingdom now things will be different.
I envy you dude, you have an awesome life :D
Hey chappers... what's that head in the wood enclosure? Looks great
I always wondered how you have enough energy to do the amount of things you do in a day. I guess now we know, lots of coffee and soda lol
That's "Mantra Of The Monkey Lord". Beast of a song.
Rob
I see you are using FCP X. The Media dept where i work decided not to upgrade to it because it seemed too much like iMovie. We are still using FCP7 which we are used to. How are you finding X?
Man, you need a Mrs Chappers!
2:19 looks amazing...
Is that General Grevious on your ESP shirt? Does he have an endorsement? ; ) I am thinking he probably plays 8 string guitars...
Flashback - Best. Delay. Ever.
Rob, we want some SUBWAY BANDIT!!!!!!
It's been years :D
Lol i have the same phone as you and i thought my one was ringing.Freaked me out when i saw it wasn't ringing
Chappers, I have a question that's not really related to your day in the life. But I seem to have a problem with when playing power chords especially, when I change chords you can here my fingers scraping the strings. you can here it through the amp. and it's even worse on acoustic. I've tried moving my fingers of the fret board a little more, but I find it slows down my chord changes. So do you have any recommendations? thanks man
Rob you live in Wiltshire?
Can I buy your music anywhere? The song in the opening of this video ought to be on my i-pod.
Not Chappers but i'll have a go.
If you slide your hand on the strings, it's gonna be heard no matter what. Sometimes it can sound good to give more character to the playing w/e.
To remove this, you can mute the string with your picking hand between chords, they may be other options but that's the one i've had the most success with. Sometimes I also mute with my fretting hand if the chord allows for it. Mostly it's with the palm.
@donSparda well it's free to anywhere mainland UK so it should be
I would love to see that, actually. Being in the USA I'd have no way of ever getting to experience it :(
Greetings from Brazil Rob, what type of cables do you use?
I have to same coffee thing hahahahahahahahaha!
Chappers plays the elder scrolls, legend.
MFW we've got the exact same chair from Ikea in our room. :P
Aaaaahhhh, the British breakfast!
@zatoichi188 Yeah I specifically chose a very normal day, no bull shit required.
Tree of Life! \m/
the breakfast!
can i have em?
How come on UK built amps you switch the standby switch down and on American amps you switch the switch up?
Did it take some adjusting to get used to working for yourself?
you should make a follow up to this.
