The daughter he created contained some of his own demonic essence that her body had always adjusted to without anyone's knowledge, save Adria given she was the mother. Diablo was imprisoned in the black soulstone with the other prime and lesser evils...the seven heads of Thatamet were reunited and having Leah become the vessel of the black soulstone allowed what bond she had with her father, the Lord of Terror to make him the dominant personality for the new body he would create. The Prime Evil body he gained from Leah as his vessel isn't quite Tathemet himself, but its the closest Diablo could ever become seeing as he'd literally need the entirety of hell itself to ever come close to the cosmic being's original power. Even so, it was a nice concept.
I don't know if he is cannon, but Kabraxis from The Black Road book would probably be fairly high on this list. If I remember correctly there is a line in the book about how the prime evils themselves where concerned about him.
Personally i think Mephisto is the biggest of the primevils. baal and diablo are a little thick headed and rely on brute force and aggression. Mephisto knows how to play mind games and soo good is he at it that he can turn his brothers against eachother with such ease. Probably the most underrated of the 3 and im glad we get more of him in diablo 4.
I kinda think Mephisto is the most powerful because his ability to make and execute large scale strategic plans and manipulate any life form to me makes him more dangerous and powerful even if he isn’t winning a 1v1 against some of the other evils

I can't remember which book it was from, but there was a demon named Kabraxas who claimed to be more powerful than all of the other demon lords. (Edit: mentioned in the other comments) Debatable, for sure. I can't remember exactly what his power was, but I think it was along the lines of granting wishes. Reminds me of Clavicus Vile from Skyrim.... I kinda wish the baroness Greed had made the bottom of this list. While she was super easy if you had the right build in D3 or watched for her attack tells, she still wiped the floor with me several times when I jumped too far in difficulty and didn't avoid her ground slams. Could consider a list of villains who weren't demons: Griswold as a zombie in D2, Nithlatak, the Cow King, Corpsefire (allegedly had some back story), Radament, and that's just D2. I couldn't really invest much into D3, but it really does make things tragic that the whole family in Tristram suffered bad endings: Albrecht to turn into Diablo, Aiden to slay him and then turn into Diablo for D2, the king himself losing it and being turned into the Skeleton King, and the wife whom the king had killed at the request of Lazarus for being a "traitor".

Allthough that's not possible. Since half of the human existence is evil essence, you'd have to kinda purify them to resurrect Tathamet. That would in return send your other half to Je...back to the high heavens, unable to confront Tathamet in a common form. We would have to literally play as an angel entity. Does not sound too bad tho

There is also a story quest where you go back in time and fight along with a very young Deckard Cain, and an exploration of King Leoric's family mansion where you can see how the life relationships of Aidan, Leoric, and the Queen to Albrecht were, to name a few. Also, you get to save Tyrael, who was trapped with Baal in another dimension after the destruction of the world stone in D2. Answering the long unanswered question as to why Tyrael retained his identity after his supposed death because he never really died in the first place.. :) To add, you get to encounter Diablo himself in one of the quest and believe me when I say Diablo in Diablo Immortal is terrifying AF. 🤣

In my opinion the top 3 should be 3rd Mephisto, 2nd Diablo and 1st Tathamet obviously because it's the origin of the burning hells ,Baal is powerful but way less cunning than his brothers he simply bruteforced his way throught mount Arreat to reach the worldstone ,if Nihlathak didn't give him the ancient relic out of fear he would never had access to the worldstone chamber ,instead his brothers manipulated their same jailers and turned them in pawns to use at their whim making them more evil and dangerous .
To get more feats from the demons, Lohar said that a Lesser evil is powerful enough to ravish a Continent, and the Ice Leviathan in Diablo Immortal is stated to be powerful enough to sink islands, could get some scaling off that.
Path of exile 2 in one month. 100 bosses on release, and knowing them it's probably 150. A actual endgame with multiple different types of things to do.

They completely wasted the holy heck out of Duriels character potential in D4 in forever going to be salty about it. Just wasted all that potential. Should have let an actual fan write the story.
Aren’t Diablo, Baal and Mephisto greater evils not prime evils, only prime evil was Diablo in D3 when the soul stone containing the other two was merged with Diablo.
This isnt a list of demons ranked by their overall power, but rather who caused more harm to sanctuary. In terms of power the prime evils are top 3 and lessar evils rank 4-7 and the other notable demons ranking lower.
Interesting take! Id say its diablo, mephisto, baal then lilith. They are all prime level and the others dont come close. Duriel was also tasked with more important roles vs andy just being a nuisance. Finally i dont take d3 and diablo immoral as cannon since those wete joke games and just made purely for profits and not the og fans of 1&2's hayday.
For me the most annoying character that isn't a boss and even matched up against bosses is the butcher I've died more times to him than any other character in the game history is just random appearance and just killing you over and over again so tedious

The first 3 spots in list are prime evils sure, but the lesser evils are right under them. There are no canonically stronger demons than Diablo, Mephisto, Baal, Azmondan, Duriel, Andariel and Belial. #8 is actually Kabraxis who was so powerful not even the primes could control him. #9 are the Ancient Ones. Primordial demon giants you can see being tortured in Diablo 3 hell locations and their remains are in the giants location in Nahantu in D4. The wanted to get a little rebelious so Azmondan punished them by twisting them into small fallen ones or used them as demon batteries. # 10 are siege beasts found in D3 act 3. Nearly uncontrollable and considered one of the greatest prizes in hells. Only after them you have the various "children" like Lilith or Lucion on spot #11. On #12 are the liutenants like Astroga and butcher is #13. This is power wise by canon lore.
You are right - but based on their depictions and impact on Sanctuary in the games, they follow a different order. Andariel and Duriel are both pawns of Lilith in D4 and frankly, Duriel may as well rank at the same level as the Butcher given his portrayal in the games

The soulstones, when corrupted, actually work as anchor for their power (the trap gaslighting everyone they are bad for them was set by Izual), so their couldnt really bring the true form or power in Sanctuary, they are just small echoes. Another thing is, while primes and Belial and Azmodan had their own plans and agenda, Andariel and especially Duriel simply dont give a fuck, they just want to enjoy torment (mental for Andariel and physical for Duriel) and are willing to serve and be summoned for shits and giggles

The most powerful demon, in my opinion, is a Quill Volley Spiritborn. Even Diablo shivers at the thought of this demon.
