I'm here because of the terrible sad news. On behalf of the Rugby League supporters in Australia, we are so sorry to lose such a wonderful man and player. Best wishes to Rob's family and close friends. We can feel your pain.
Most of the gambling and entertainment pages Monday really hated the Big Freeze which happens every year on the Kings birthday long weekend. As someone whose neighbour's father went through it, I was ashamed that they were all Eff you MND fighters. Does anyone know If Rob had the ALS/MND variant the NHS has said 90% of cases are?
I am an old man who lives in Leeds. I saw Rob play many times and on almost every time, I came away from the match in total awe at the skill and bravery of this young man, Thank You Rob! My condolences go to his family.
He was a phenomenal player and person. He was a credit to Leeds, England, GB and the game. I hope his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of rugby fans across the world. Best regards, Cas fan.
What a shame that you never watched Rugby League, These guys earned nothing like the "Hyper Salaries" of some players in the Premier League of the FA, but when these guys took a tackle, they were back on their feet and back in the thick of the play. They are true sportsmen, not like some of the "Prima Donnas" who play football who limp off the field with a "Fractured Eyelash"
Only heard about Rob after word come out about his passing (I'm an American with an interes tin the NRL), but holy s:#( what I'd have given to see this cat live. Truly Box office stuff. And then, of course, to deal with ALS in the matter he did sets him in a category of champion I can only dream to be within half a mile of. Vale, Sir, Vale.
Inspirational to everyone in Life. An example of never giving in and always giving everything against greater odds; RIP Rob and Thank You for Your example from a Rugby League fan who is proud to have seen You play live in the flesh. Morale of the story, no matter how small you can be so mighty.
Amazing how many tackles from huge guys he dances through. Quite special. Even when they grab him he flicks them off. Explains a lot about how incredible his fight had been. RIP
I dont know naff all about RL. But i knew all about Rob Burrow. To see these clips and to see him in full flow like this is thrilling. Truly. I can only imagine being a fan on the terrace witnessing such skill, speed and bravery. Brings chills as i write. Just incredible.
Yes, apart from him and Jason Robinson, we usually had to admire Welsh half backs such as Edwards, Bennett, and Davies for our entertainment on a rugby field...not seen him regularly, and from these clips clearly I had not appreciated what an athletic specimen he was...I'm awe-struck...so tenacious too...a real battler...all the way!
An absolute class man , a real world inspirational hero, and I can’t think about Rob without thinking of his great friend Kev. These two deserved each other, every time I see a photo of Rob and Kev together it makes me feel good inside, and brings a tear to my eyes. I truly can’t put into words what an inspiration they both are. Dignified and strong to the core, rest easy . #Respect
What an exceptionally talented athlete he was. I’ve only heard of Rob recently as I don’t follow rugby but I’m sorry I didn’t know of him sooner. He’s got to be one of the best rugby players ever surely? Look at the speed and athleticism. I am so sad to hear of his passing 😢
I don't think he'd ever make an all time world great list but that's not really important. He's a club legend for possibly the best Team of the Super League era. For his size he was sensational and a unique specimen of a man. In terms of great tries he could possibly challenge most of the other top contenders. The first time I saw him I thought Jesus he's tiny but he used it to his advantage and embarrassed a lot of big men. Just think of the level of courage you'd need to have to be up against tough men twice your size who are looking to slam you to the ground at any opportunity. RIP Rob; I don't think any public illness and death of a household name has touched me as much as yours; not just for the cruel nature of your suffering but also for the courage and positive mentality you displayed during the hardest of times.
From the clips...he looks one of the best, but I am no expert. Loved to have seen him play for Wales in the days of their glory...he would have added something to those great teams, and like Jonathan Davies...his body strength must have been immense...at 5 5 to fly at that speed...that takes real power...
Yes, you can bet he was a handful on the football pitch too with that speed, turn of pace...and low centre of gravity, alongside his lateral speed and agility too.
Although I love rugby union I've not really followed league. Rob has really raised awareness of his sport too. What a fantastic player he was, his speed and skills made him a giant, and of course how he bravely fought MND until the end. Rest in Peace Rob.
Just seen the Rob Burrow documentary on the BBC iplayer. If you don't cry watching that you're a better man than me. What an inspirational man, family, friends and rugby league community it showed. Also how good was he when he was a child, the tries he scored against lad's who were twice his size was unbelievable. RIP Rob Burrow, you will never be forgotten 👍
It's only when you see this compilation that you realise just how brave, fast and elusive he was and what an incredible rugby brain he had. He was truly one of a kind. I loved watching him make monkeys out of the big guys. Leeds should retire the no 7 shirt in his honour.
Only English player I can think of to compare...but there some really good Welsh half backs who had similar traits, but I think he surpasses them for his ability to find a gap through his speed...linear and lateral...and that low centre of gravity...and agility to move from one direction to the other...a nightmare for any defence...how he found those gaps I don't know...never seen the like of it before...
I was at the O2 on Sunday night and my wife was pointing out to me where Rob Burrow and his family were when she went to the national telly vision awards and literally within 10 seconds of her showing me I had a news alert on my phone announcing the news of Rob’s passing and people around were getting the same news on their phones , you could hear people saying “ no Rob Burrow died “ you could feel the buzz around us as more and more people were getting the news , not many people would get that kind of response but that’s the impact this man had , he was our Rob Burrow , God bless him .
I didn't know much about Rob Burrow the player. Wow. I have never seen anyone run laterally and backwards like that in League to cause a defensive line to fracture and then pop with such speed, acceleration and balance through those holes. What a player.
Never watched rugby but I could watch this for hours. The turnover of his legs and the agility….its just so inspiring for all us short kings out there to know what our bodies are capable of…truly tragic that his life was cut so short.
I loved watching Rob play, dynamic runner and playmaker... a giant of a man in such a tiny body, so sad for his family, his wife and children are stronger for they way he conducted his self in his life and career. His mam and dad can be proud of thier sons achievements in all aspects of Rob's life RIP Rob...
RIP Rob Burrow - what a great person! - And on the field, lightning fast, brave, great hands, great movement, and soo hard to tackle - they said he was too small to play, but he used it to his advantage!
I've always been a Rugby Union man and, despite knowing of Rob Burrow and his courageous battle, I had never seen him play. His acceleration and change of direction are so impressive. What a player. Condolences to his family and friends.
sorry to admit this but this is the first time ive seen rob perform and I am amazed at his skills, he is such a talented guy. I say is as opposed to was as I believe he is still out there somewhere showing off his skills, sleep well fella😇
i know lots will be viewing this after the sad news on sunday but there was another side of robs game thats worth mentioning he was fearless...in this video there was enough high shots on him that didnt deter him but i remember with joy him being kept at arms lenght by the biggest prop they had as he attempted to fight back after a cheap shot with keith senior laughing like hell at the 10 inch and 6 stone difference between the 2 or the perfect hit on jamie thackery that dumped the 17 stone prop on his arse...there are many other occasions which made him a joy to watch

Nice one Kev. Very sad loss

I had no idea. Think I’ve just watched one of the most amazing sportsmen of all time. His leg speed, agility, vision, imagination, fitness…wow!
I never watched rugby league but Rob Burrows just sold it to me. What a man

What an experience it was to watch this man play for Leeds as a young kid in the stands of Headingley with my grandparents. A true Yorkshire hero

A man small in stature with the heart, courage and strength of a lion.
Truly a legend.
The Lionel Messi of the Rugby world. beautiful to watch

MND is just horrific. To go to from this to how he ended up was tough to watch. Hopefully they make some sort of breakthrough on it someday soon.
I loved watching Rob play, dynamic runner and playmaker... a giant of a man in such a tiny body, so sad for his family, his wife and children are stronger for they way he conducted his self in his life and career.
