Lynda, that you for the great video-memories of my home town. I remember Belisle's, at the S/W corner of Harbor Blvd and Chapman Avenue, where a family of five could order two-full meals and take home the left-overs. I lived in Garden Grove, CA (Chapman Ave. and Springdale) from 1960 until August of 1986.
I remember when zody's became a Target, always got my Levi's at Miller's Outpost, eating at beliles restaurant I lived off of Chapman and 9th, going to the swap meet at that drive in all the time with my parents. A lot of good memories in Garden Grove Mitchell Elementary 0a Peters Junior High School Good Times!
I don't remember White Front or Two Guys, but I do remember Newberry, Zody's, Gemco...that whole shopping center on Brookhurst and Chapman. I grew up near Newland and Trask, but we started off on Stern Ave. by Brookhurst. Westbrook Bowl and Thrifty's was where we spent most of our time. lol
in the late 60s and early and late 70s ,two guys used to be where target is now on harbor blvd, and white front was next to toys are us also on harbor, zodys was where that vons used to be on chapman and newberries was right next to sav-ons which is cvs now.
Shan, White Front was a wonderful place to visit when I was a kid. Zody's, JJ Newberry's and Kress, (all located on the South West corner of Chapman Ave and Brookhurst), were great as well. But you left-out the A&W burger Drive-in and Center Meats, where our Neighbors Dale and Dave worked.
Well thanks Lynda cool video, and it was a super fine place to be a kid in the 60s and 70s hangin out at Dennys Brookhurst and Westminister, while they still allowed smoking, with a watchful eye on teenagers sitting there making plans to get back to the Huntington Pier LOL, and Bolsa Grande , Irvine Junior High, . I remember how we were wowed when the first city buses showed up running up and down the main streets, We sorta grew up then. Never forget the Strawberry Festivel too....
Belisle's!!! Remember the size of those pancakes!!!! and the mgr with huge moustache!! sometimes a kid would be swinging on top of the sign. White Front - had the small record section in the back (sale: two 45's for $1.00 !!!!) Newberrys on Brookhurst - great ice cream sundaes at the food bar. Two Guys: way before Target. Who remembers the Fabulous Pitcairn Motel ?? !!!! LOL Thanks - Good job Lynda.

Lived in GG all thru the 60's. Hung out at GEM on Fridays and Saturdays. Could walk to Main Street from home. The library was there and so was a fire station. There was a great old burger/ice cream place just off Main on GG Blvd, can't remember name. The old MacDonald's on Harbor north of Palm Hospital, too. And, of course, Bob's Big Boy (I was 86ed there once.(
