Dang....I absolutely love the look of these lenses. I like them WAY better than the standard Atlas anamorphics. I was trying to hold off on ordering but this might have pushed me over the edge! Great video Rob
Dude, same. I've had these in a cart for preorder so many times but figured I'd wait to rent them on a production and see how I like them. Which I'm still going to do but they just seem like a perfect anamorphic for most of the scenarios I'd use anamorphic and are subtle enough that I could actually see myself using them in more scenarios than I would typically go for anamorphic on which could justify actually owning them. This footage looks so sick, I'm pretty sold.
You already made me start buying Tokina Vista lenses...can't you wait until I get 3-4 of those before you start making me buy Atlas lenses? Great video.
Is it not possible to make anamorphics as a wide-angle lens? Whenever I look at anamorphics lens sets, there's never something wider than 35mm or so. Definitely not 18, 16, 14mm. Is it bc it's not necessary and the anamorphs capture wide enough field as is?
Have they announced the release window of the 54? I remember them just getting their first prototype in like a month ago. Waiting on the 138mm they hinted at
@@BradleyLayton7 we want longer focal lengths ! 135 woul be nice, but also something like 200mm or more ! (wich become equivalent to around 135mm when compared to a spherical). I dont understand why very short anamorphic are the main thing (i understand that it helps getting some nice characteristic like barrel distortion and all, but come on, long focals are very important for cinematography).

Thank you for mentioning and demonstrating the barrel distortion.
Love the new intro graphic and solid info as usual
I just watched his video yesterday. Love the dog 😍 cant wait for my 42mm and 72mm Mercury lens to eventually ship
Such lovely amber flares. Great footage, thanks for sharing!
Yeah.. These Mercuries are incredible.
Damn what a power duo between you & Julien! These look sick. Seem like a totally reasonable price too
does the barrel distortion become less prominent as you stop down on the lens?
so nice. love the look and character. Wish I could afford one lense
Very interesting. Really digging the characteristics of these. Might have to pick some up a little down the road
Stuff I'll never be able to buy, Part 600. 😄
And that’s where renting comes in my friend!
Change those limiting beliefs

Really looking to make this my standard look i love it
Love it man!!! Looks great!!!
Lenses make ball sacks look so smooth🤭🤭🤭 #rippedjeans
Great info! What cam were you filming on for the examples in this video?
Thank you for that review! That 54mm is some kind of a prototype?
Yes, it was a prototype.
Am I the only one who is disoriented by the barrel distortion on these? I want to like them so bad. Great vid as always 🤘🏼
Now wait a minute. I see that 54!

Suspiria was not from 2017
Correct, it's from 1977. Maybe he confused it with the 2018 remake.
Why don’t you like using diffusion filters?
Man... I don't know if I want all that whacky characters... and I have a pre-order on these :-/ wish I could demo them somehow.
some of the examples stills you put in the video aren't even shot anamorphic
I guess I'm ruined as a filmmaker
